Can I request assistance for tasks in these diaries, or do I need to train to the required levels? -Bo
- You need to train to the required levels, and certain boosts such as Spicy stews can be used. Unfortunately, the request assistance does not work for Achievement diary tasks.
az talk 11:02, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Whoever says Assist doesn't work, haven't tried it.
Assist system DO work, it is not a matter of beliefs. Do TRY it if you don't believe it. (Or if you don't try it, then don't write assumptions as facts).
I used assist system with lumbridge/draynor tasks, smelting steel bar, smithing steel longsword and crafting holy symbol and all task were "updated" (completed). Maques1 10:19, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
This is getting interesting...
I tried smithing adamant med helm from varrock hard task, and indeed it didn't work.
Then I wanted to try cooking a lobster from lumbridge/draynor medium, with a level 37 account. (To cook a lobster, you need 40). First, I tried without assistance, and guess what happened? I was able to cook a lobster with just being on level 37! Then I got the "diary updated" message, and subsequent tries of cooking a lobster failed with the usual message that I'd need level 40.
Is it a "glitch" then?
I offer my high level member account's help to sort out this matter.
Maques1 12:06, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe you used a temporary boost? And the image says: "requesting your assistance." Does that mean he/she is requesting your assistance, and not the other way around? az talk 12:25, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- Do you think I have nothing else to do just spend time to make fake images here? You probably didn't add the 3 "scrolled down" skill's level. That's probably 338+3=341. Also like I said, I am willing to repeat this. Create a new account, start diary, and I go assist wherever you want. Maques1 12:40, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
No, I definitely did not. This was nonmember account/world, so I could only wear chef's hat I guess, but I didn't. Also further attempts to cook resulted in "normal" messages (no level 40 - can't cook). A noob was around trying to trade and req. assist, I didn't even expected that it should work, so I didn't logout to clear screen. But now I can't do it again, as task is completed for the account. If anyone has/makes a noob account, I'd be glad to assist. Maques1 12:37, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
Game Guide[]
Jagex had also mentioned, in [http://www.runescape.com/kbase/viewarticle.ws?article_id=536 the Game Guide], that the Assist System does not work for Achievement Diaries.
“ | Note that you cannot make any untradeable, quest, minigame or Achievement Diary items using the Assist System (Achievement Diary tasks will not be marked complete), and there are still lots of things you'll need to get your skill levels up in order to make. You also cannot use resource gathering skills (like Woodcutting or Mining), so if you need assistance you'll still need some raw materials. You can only gain access to things that you could get by trading anyway, so there's always a reason to work on your skills! | ” |

“ | You cannot assist someone with a quest, an Achievement Diary (they will not be able to mark a task complete if they were assisted in this way) or a minigame. | ” |

Winterhook, a Forum mod in RuneScape, also said the Assist System does not work for Achievement diaries. See http://forum.runescape.com/forums.ws?71,72,964,57813431. az talk 11:18, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
Assist doesn't work for smithing or farming, but you can use, Mature dwarven stout, Garden pie, Ect, tried and tested with friends.. Real high level players Phamtom21
Re Glitch[]
Maques1 i think maybe because Lumbridge / draynor diarys' are free to play, that assist system may work, to encorage less skilled accounts to complete, anyone wants to test again, can contact me in game, low lvl account Spartes Bain my f2p acc no diarys complete ( forgot to sign) Phamtom21
I'm online, added "phamtom_2", no sign. I can bring materials, got raw lobster, ores, etc. Specify what needed. Maques1 12:45, 2 November 2008 (UTC) Phamtom_x2, im on spartes_bain at sec world 106 lumby castle.. Phamtom21
Please confirm, that you could cook lobster with lvl 15 only. Also I'm willing to test some others, eg. smelt steel bar, craft holy symbol, smith steel longsword, etc. Maques1 13:03, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
was able to smith with assist, cook without required lvl Phamtom21
So, we've tried these, all completed with assist, except cooking lobster, where no assist needed at all, so account could cook the (one) lobster with level 15 cooking, even without assist!
Even though if the utilization of the assist system is purposely working for lumbridge/draynor tasks, the "cooking lobster without any level requirement and no need to assist" part is clearly a glitch. Maques1 13:30, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
If this is definitely a glitch, and according to the Rules of RuneScape (Rule 4), bugs/glitches should be reported to Jagex. It should not be "promoted" in the articles. az talk 13:36, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

This is not about "promoting" the glitch. (Though there is a glitch collection on this wiki I believe). It was simply found out during the debate of whether the assist system is usable or not. I report this bug to Jagex, and also ask to clarify this. If I get answer, I post it here. Maques1 13:44, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
Yes i have reported as a bug also, we do not yet no if its a glitch or intentional on jagexs' part, to further aid new players in free2play diarys' hope we get some aswers off jagex soon, Phamtom21
Skeletal Wyverns[]
That players will have to kill a Skeletal wyvern for the Falador diary is a logical conclusion, but has it been confirmed by anyone at Jagex? If so, where's the source? --nekobawt 23:50, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
- Ok yeah, never mind, I'm an idiot. I somehow managed to read everything but the second paragraph, which happens to detail the Fally diary. Doh! --nekobawt 20:21, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
Overall Rewards?[]
I was thinking it might be nice to have an "overall rewards" section", detailing all rewards? Idk, but i got a picture of all the items together.
Couldn't think of which section to note this in, but it would be nice if the level requirements on the lamps were provided.
I just did the falador ones, and tried to put the xp on RC.
2 of the lamps said 90+

and the last allowed me to use it with my rc level being 82. 86.174.23.17 20:31, September 8, 2010 (UTC)Proto
Rewards pages[]
All the pages of the rewards should be condensed to one page. i.e. instead of Falador shield 1, Falador shield 2 and Falador shield 3, there should be just Falador shield detailing each of the shields' benifits (in the same style that Explorer's ring does for 1, 2, and 3 of the ring). It would condense the pages, and make it look better, in general. @Gaz#7521 17:13, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- There is the long debated and outstanding policy on this wiki of RuneScape:Granularity. In nearly every case where I've seen articles of different items combined, there ended up being strong reasons for breaking them apart again that showed up at a later date. Each of these items do have different stats, abilities, and many do even require obtaining them from different NPCs. On the other hand, players will never be having multiple achievement diary items (aka both a Explorer's ring 1 and 2). I don't see the compelling reason to combine them, but mine isn't the only opinion on this topic.
- If you do decide to combine these items, try to be consistent across all of the achievement diary items and don't half-complete this with some items combined and others separated. That would be worse than simply leaving them all as independent articles. Also, clean up references to these items, such as the Achievement Diary templates and redirect references. --Robert Horning 18:42, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Update Current-Reward Picture[]
Hey you know that picture with that lady wearing all the current Achievement Diary rewards? Well she's missing the Enhanced excalibur sword that you get once you complete the Seers Village Achievement Diary.
So can anyone re-update that picture please? I just want everything to be accurate here.
--
22:08, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- You don't get enchanced excalibur as a reward, just as a side bonus the ability to upgrade excalibur should you want to. Hence, its not really achievement diary armour, as its not a direct reward from the diary. Should anyone thing differently, then I don't mind taking the pic, however it won't be animated (which is good, cos its needless). @Gaz#7521 22:21, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
Alching Diary Rewards[]
On the articles for each Diary reward (fremmy boots, etc.), it says the high and low alch values are "Not applicable". Yes they are. I just high alched my Fally Shield 2, and I got 120 coins. This isn't vital info, but if someone could take out the time to alch each level of each reward on high and low alch (lotsa work :o), it would be greatly appreciated. I've already filled in the alch info for Fally Shield 2. --User:Lil diriz 77/Signatures 02:13, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Total requirements are wrong[]
I've noticed that the required combat level for all the diaries is wrong. It's 100 instead of 20. This is because someone has missed it from the karamja diary which requires 100 cb to get a task from Duradel. It's also not shown in the karamja reqs tablet. I put this info here because I don't know how to edit the reqs tablet. --Pandaflakes 11:31, October 23, 2009 (UTC)
40 Defence Requirement[]
Isn't one of the tasks for the Seers' diary that you have to use Piety? I do believe you need 70 prayer as well as 70 defence to do so. 86.137.221.103 09:41, June 30, 2010 (UTC)
4 sets of tasks[]
[[Manual achievementdiary.jpg| ]]"Achievement Diaries contain a list of cities and regions in RuneScape, each having four sets of tasks to complete."
Excuse me, but the last time I counted, it was three each. Talking to the starting person is definitely not a "set of tasks". The only exception is currently the Ardougne Diary, one might note that in the intro too.
I didn't want to edit it incase I misunderstand something...
Lamp requirements[]
It would be nice if the level requirements on the lamps were provided.
I just did the falador ones, and tried to put the xp on RC.

Regarding the above, i also don't know whether temporary boosts would allow you to use the lamps on that skill. For RC using the guy in the dorgeshun(sp?) city would have raised my rc by enough, but i already used the lamp =/ If someone could find out, that would be much appreciated.

Diary Requirements[]
Something that has recently started to bug me is the list of required levels to fully complete the diaries. This list uses the elite diaries, which have high level requirements. I think it would be nice to list the skill requirements for at least the hard diaries here also. I find it irritating to look at all of the 80's and 90's, when I just want to know the level requirements for the hard diaries right now.
I know the requirements are listed on each diares page for each set of tasks, but to figure out what levels I need, it requires going through the easy, medium, and hard tasks of each diary to determine what the highest skill level required to complete them all is.
I think it would be appreciated if a list of all the skill levels required were listed for at least the hard diaries, but would like to see it done for easy, medium, hard, and elite. 166.164.99.95 02:58, October 18, 2010 (UTC)
On it. I'll start with Lumbridge.

I can't not find any info on the new tasks added in lumby anywhere...can someone put up an outdated notice along with the cleanup notice and get these new task included? As I'm aware each of these new task also have some reward by claiming them with I think Explorer Jack or someone else... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Drixomanbeta (talk).
- Hmm, yes, I considered starting a new page for Miscellaneous tasks, but I'm guessing that the page already exists, and I'm just not getting the right name, and no one has linked to it from here... Task #418[]
The urns update brought with it an unexpected update not mentioned anywhere else: When I made my first urn an achievement popped up and promptly vanished before I could note down what it was.
Anyone else able to fill this in? I've looked through all my completed tasks but I can't seem to track it down.

Total Money Reward[]
Yeah, I know I'm being a noob for doing this :P but I was just wondering how much money in total you get from doing all the tasks. I had the amount recorded in my notes, but some noob (more so than I) hacked my account and deleted my notes.
Thanks!

Glitch[]

- I've been wondering about a glitch myself. After completing the members tutorial, I turn Tutorial back to On to check on the introductory tasks. All of them are completed, I've double and triple-checked (I'm assuming some of them got completed automatically since I already had the requirements fulfilled when I started the Tut), yet the window says "Progress: 59/60". It's kind of bugging me. 81.172.107.58 17:32, March 13, 2012 (UTC)
F2P Requirement Table?[]
This wikia shouldn't assume that everyone is a member. The info should be useful for all players alike. Would it really be that harmful to add a F2P requirement table? I highly doubt you need 91 runecrafting to complete everything as a F2Per. 76.123.47.195 18:07, May 8, 2012 (UTC)
- Added it. It's just the Lumbridge/Draynor requirements table though, as none of the f2p Varrock tasks have higher requirements. AnselaJonla 18:15, May 8, 2012 (UTC)

- Varrock and Fally aren't F2P. THARKON 19:04, May 11, 2012 (UTC)

- Really, there are Varrock tasks that are f2p? How odd. Never saw any announcement of that change in any newspost, but if that is the case, then those tasks should be listed in the F2P section of this article as well. THARKON 20:37, May 16, 2012 (UTC)
- As far as I can tell, any task regradless of location (even if it was intended for members only) can be done by F2P players though they still won't be able to accept the rewards til they become P2P. The only task that it truely members only would be Seers' Village task of "See Yew at Five" which have the player cut Yews. The player must cut the trees in that location for it to count which is noted on the task itself on this wikia. Using "Strike a Pose" from the Varrock task list as an example can be done as a F2Per. I have done many Varrock and Falador tasks personally as a F2Per which is why I found it weird we didn't have the full requirement list.I not sure if Karamja is member-only-locked or not but possible F2P tasks there would be Fruity Catch, Back Cran-door and Dungeons and Dragons. 76.123.47.195 22:45, May 17, 2012 (UTC)

Will the task actually be completed by doing it while F2P though? Just because you can peform the actions required to complete the task does not mean you can actually complete it. Like I killed plenty of ghasts before the Moryania tasks, but had to kill another after the diary was released. THARKON 13:22, May 19, 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, you will get the GP reward and have it mark off. The only downside from doing it as a F2Per is that you won't get the set reward unless it was under Lumby task list. Am I the only person to have a F2P account on this wikia? Feel free to test it out yourself. It only take a few mins to make a yahoo email account and have an active character in a f2p world doing the no brainer easy tasks in varrock or fally. Giving the varrock dog a bone or trying to change your outfit should be an easy no requirement task in varrock. 76.123.47.195 02:12, May 21, 2012 (UTC)
- Not sure what the Yahoo account would be for, but anyway, new accounts are automatically made members now. I have some accounts without membership lying around though, haven't had the time and motivation to test it. I did note that the only quest needed for Varrock tasks is Rune Mysteries (which is already required for Lumbridge) and no quests are needed for Falador F2P tasks.THARKON 19:36, May 22, 2012 (UTC)
- I am aware but this was before the automatic member trial update. The yahoo bit was for your new account if you wish to test it yourself. Anyway once you have proof you would only have to check what f2p players are able to do for varrock/fally tasks and add them in.
