Minigame or Mini-quest?

Jagex doesn;t call this a minigame. Its not in the list of minigames in either. Shouldnt we call this a Mini-quest?-- Miasmic Blitz Hapi007 Talk! Sign! . 12:29, 26 August 2008 (UTC) it is not in the minigame page because the reward isn't released yet, they will porbably add it in 24hours. btw, ring pown :) Zebe311 12:34, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

I dont agree with this. Minigames can be done more times. However, this 'game' can only be done once, then you have all the rewards. I think we should call it a MINI-QUEST called 'Beacon Burning' or something. If Jagex didnt place this 'game' in the minigame-list tomorrow, Ill make it a miniquest. Anyone agrees?-- Miasmic Blitz Hapi007 Talk! Sign! . 14:05, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
I think that if you lose them you can re-do and get the items over, i'd like to try and see if that actually works but right now im doing other things--Kazypoo1 14:26, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Nope, if you lose them, you can get them back by talking to King Roald. Go 'Beacon Burning'!-- Miasmic Blitz Hapi007 Talk! Sign! . 14:31, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Upon completion of the quest, the rewards refer to it as the 'All Fired Up minigame'. Therefore I think it should be named that on the wiki too. E.T. Prod U (Talk) 14:55, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

See? Jagex doesnt call this a minigame either. Its on the Runescape Knowledgebase known as 'Beacon Network'. So, no minigame, but a mini-quest. Can I change it now?-- Miasmic Blitz Hapi007 Talk! Sign! . 13:36, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Jagex doesnt call this a minigame either. Maybe, you should see this image (read the statement below the "5,500 Firemaking XP" line)

  az talk   13:56, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Okay, I saw this image allready... but why didnt jagex put it in their list of minigames, but in 'Firemaking - Beacon Network'?-- Miasmic Blitz Hapi007 Talk! Sign! . 15:26, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Maybe they haven't updated their database yet? As long as it is stated that this is a minigame, and not otherwise, I think this issue is resolved.   az talk   02:11, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

As a 96 woodcutter and 92 firemaker the 3 rewards interest me greatly. Would be nice to know more about them from someone that has already got them --Gold ore Mercifull UK serv (Talk) 12:41, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Equipping the ring gives 2.5% bonus while burning logs, using the ring with the gloves a 5% bonus.

Update idea

Do you think Jadex will eventualy add more beacons (example lvls 94,96,98 and 99)(example reason, realization that enemy can attack from ocean above Relleka) that can only be lit after another quest that needs one or more of the current items. Mathwiz908 18:29, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Firemaking lvl?

In the article is not mentioned needed fm lvl to complete minigame. When I tried to burn some beacon i was unable do so because of low fm lvl. So whats the required fm lvl to lit all beacons?

Click the in-game Firemaking guide and select "Beacons". It has the required levels to light them in there. Planeshifted 19:40, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Does anyone know if the pyrelord invisible fm bonus will allow me to light the beacon? (ex: i'm 76fm and i try to lit the lvl79 one, will I be able to do it?)  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk).

No, you would not be able to. Level requirements are for own levels, bonuses don't affect ability to light them. Golduin 14:59, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Beacon Keepers???

What are these guys called? I was using Beacon tenders, but keepers seems better, maybe. I don't like beacon owners at all, since one assumes King Roald would object. Do these guys have a name in the game or RS websites anywhere??? I interrogated a couple of them and poked, prodded, examined, and inspected them, and they refused to tell me their job title! Mamabear47 04:14, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Summoning + equipment combined effect

Does the new fm equipment effect stack with the bonus from Pyrelord? Golduin 19:47, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Experience Chart?

Any explanation on the xp chart shown here? It doesn't seem to match up with the one in the knowledge base (Where xp goes up the more beacons are lit), and the "Xp per log" columns give a higher total than the "XP" columns... I'm guessing they're reversed, but either way it doesn't seem to match up with what's actually in-game. Urth 05:16, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

The chart put there is the amount of xp you get per log, the amount you get per log with fire ring and flame gloves, the amount of xp per 27 logs, the finally the xp per 27 logs with flame gloves and fire ring. I'm assuming it was to show the benefits of the minigame for normal firemaking. I've no idea why my edit was reversed because even though load (a load of firemaking... everyone knows thats 27) isn't defined using xp per log is 100% incorrect.... Why reverse my edit when you (not you) have no idea what the chart is about? Guenwhyever 09:54, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
it says that the familar dosn't stack with the gloves + ring..... but it still gives its bonus... for example... maple logs give ~130 normally, ~141.8 exp with gloves + ring, then with the pyrelord.. you can max it up to 151.8 exp. Omg r u mine 17:39, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Awarded exp for lighting beacons

It seems that Jagex silently changed the way experience is awarded for beacons (quote from rskb): "Each beacon awards a set amount of experience, regardless of the logs used. In addition to this, you will receive bonus experience for having several beacons alight at the same time" This means you can now actually get more exp, if you burn your logs in conventional way instead of playing this minigame. This IMO is practically making this minigame not very useful for fm training. Shame on you Jagex staff Golduin 09:59, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

It was always like this. Jagex have always stated that the different logs only changed the burn time not more exp. I agree that it should be more for different logs but its silly to moan at Jagex claming they changed it because they didnt. --Gold ore Mercifull UK serv (Talk) 12:40, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Okay, then there is misinformation in this article under the title "Lighting the Beacons". In article it is said "Lighting the beacons does not appear to give any less experience than the conventional method of burning logs." Moreover, this was true on the first days of release of this minigame, cause I have watched my exp when lighting the beacons. I don't know whether this was a bug or a feature. If it was a bug, it should have been a feature. If it was a feature, they should not have removed it. It is enough experience stopper that you can't extinguish the beacons. It's just my opinion. Golduin 15:32, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Actually, if you could find a circuit you could do with cheap enough logs where you keep a large number of them lit, and relight one once it goes out, wouldn't it have the potential to give more xp per log? Seems you'd only need to keep 3 lit in order to get more per log with willow... I've yet to try the minigame out myself due to losing membership, but that's just my 2 cents for now. 06:10, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

At the moment, it seems not to always give bonus exp for multiple beacons fired up, if you light a beacon after it has gone out and other beacons are yet burning. Still I don't get the way experience is calculated for beacon framework, or it has bugs. And yet again - burning maples conventional way (or with pyrelord) seems to work for faster experience, then beacon framework for me. Golduin 06:17, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
I did a little bit of analysis of exp awarded - let say you use 1st 10 beacons, from beacons you will get total of 1,969.7 exp, with total bonus of 22,226.2 exp. This will add to total exp for all 10 beacons of 24,195.9. Considering you need 20 logs per beacon (total of 200 logs) this makes 120.9795 exp per log used. I think it will be even better if you manage to use all 14 beacons, but don't forget to consider costs of the teleports and time spend. Golduin 08:56, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Just to confirm, each beacon is a set amount of exp, as set in the table, but starting with #2, you get progressively higher amounts of extra exp with each one you light, assuming they all stay lit? Or is the bonus exp awarded in one chunk at King Roald? --Jimwormmaster (talk) 07:43, January 13, 2017 (UTC)

XP for the 5 logs?

Do we get xp when the 5 extra logs get burned? I'm not seeing it, but it seems the xp formula is "complex". Mamabear47 06:18, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

My experience shows that you dont get experience for this 5 logs added. You only get experience when you light the beacon, and it seems to me that you only get bonus exp for that beacon on its first ignition - e.g. if there is some beacon left burning from previous ignition of currently operated one - you don't get bonus. Help Needed

I am sorry seem to have messed up page a little can Admin help me please --phamtom21 17:37, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Problems with earning experience

I gave it an initial stab here on this page, and I've done some general cleanup/fixing up experience tables to be more accurate as well.

One really weird issue that I've encountered, and that hasn't been documented here before or elsewhere as well, is what happens for those over-anxious players who try to keep adding logs to this network to keep lighting it up to rapidly gain experience points. Simply put, you get burned on experience points if you try to rush placing logs on the network and then go back through to light everything back up again.

You receive all of the "bonus" experience points for lighting up the beacon network on the first time through lighting everything up, but if you start to add logs to the network at stations where the flame has gone out before the whole network is extinguished, the beacon network doesn't "reset" the bonus experience again. Essentially, it is like you are trying to keep the network going. In this situation, you only receive experience for starting that beacon up without any bonus.

To give an example of the difference in experience here, lighting up the whole network at once can give you 41,579.5 experience points, but "rushing" the process and loading up the network all over again while there are still beacons aflame will give a player only 2911.1 experience points. That is a huge experience difference and enough to make a player cry after having gone through the whole network, wondering why they got such a pitiful amount of experience. Waiting an extra minute before reloading the network can make a huge difference. The question is how to convey this information.

The purpose of this is so if you "missed" a station you can hurry back and try to light it up. I'm not sure if this applies if you have only started just some of the network and then just started up some of the stations, let them burn out, and then put logs into the beacon stations to "rebuild" the network. May Guthix help you if your computer lags or disconnects before you complete the full circuit, as I think you need put logs back into the original stations and start it up... or simply finish the circuit and then put logs back into all of the stations again.

The bonus only applies if you have exceeded the previous maximum number of beacons before the network is "reset". Once all of the beacons have been lit up and then become extinguished, the bonus level is reset that allows you to earn the bonus experience points again. Is all of this clear? This information certainly is not listed in this article, or at least wasn't listed until I made an edit here today. This is also not very clear in the official game guide. --Robert Horning 21:56, October 14, 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I'm not a regular editor on this wiki, but I was browsing and saw this page. I think the template that says, "This is a safe activity, if you die here you will not lose your items", should be changed. The reason being that while the activity does not present much danger, it is possible that while walking through dangerous areas to get to beacons, it is possible to die, and you wouldn't keep your items, would you? Perhaps it should say something more along the lines of, "This activity is moderately safe, you will lose your items if you die, but it is not very dangerous" (of course stated more articulately than I have, my brains a bit dead right now XD) So, would that be appropriate? insaneular Talk 20:07, March 22, 2010 (UTC)

Giving macaw pouches

When you give a fire-tender a macaw pouch, is the effect permanent? --OmegaWarmech 22:21, October 30, 2010 (UTC)

Burn Times: With or Without extra 5 logs?

Do the article's Burn Times include the extra 5 logs? How were these numbers generated? What's the difference in time between using the 5 extra logs and not? I'm figuring that only the first two Beacons that you light will need this extra time. Warp9pnt9 15:46, October 19, 2011 (UTC)

I Was able to do it on first try, using Willow logs, despite major mistakes:

  • Used Spirit terrorbird
  • Bathe in Salt pool
  • Rub Digsite Pendant
  • Run to #2 Rag & Bone man +5 logs
  • Run to #1 River Salve +5 logs
  • Trollheim teletab, run towards God Wars Dungeon
  • Protect/Deflect Range from Trolls, Protect/Deflect melee for wolves
  • No logs in #12 GWD (forgot?), no more Super restore
  • Rub Combat bracelet to Warrior's Guild, Bank chest, got Ring of wealth
  • Buy more Super restore on Grand Exchange
  • Trollheim teletab back to #12, drank Super restore, Lit fire, jumped off Agility shortcut
  • Ran to #13 Chaos altar, Salt-water wore off along the way, (after 5 minutes instead of usual 45+ minutes)
  • Ran/walked to #14 Ice Plateau
  • Go into Ghorrok with Protect/Deflect Mage, wearing Black d'hide body/chaps, wielding Anti-dragon shield
  • Use Trollheim teletab #11 Trollheim, jumped off Agility shortcut
  • Ran south to #10 Death Plateau, (beacon in non-wildy zone), Combat bracelet, got Energy potions (for emergency)
  • Run to #9 Burthorpe
  • Goblin village sphere to #8 Goblin Village
  • Use Macaw to check status, #1 & #2 were out
  • Rub Combat bracelet to Warrior's Guild, Bank chest, got logs and filled bird
  • Rub Digsite pendant, run to #1 River Salve
  • Rub Combat Bracelet, Bank chest, more logs
  • Rub Digsite pendant, run to #2 Rag & Bone man
  • Lumber yard scroll, run to #3 Jolly Boar Inn
  • Run to #4 Varrock Gate
  • Run to #5 Grand Exchange
  • Run to Edgeville bank, got more energy potion
  • Run to #6, Edgeville
  • Run to #7, Black Knight Fortress, got notified of success, miraculously.

Despite numerous costly mistakes, I was able to recover, thanks to the many time-saving suggestions given in the article.

Given my experience, I think this setup might be slightly more optimal, or at least a worthy alternative.

  • All beacons full with 20 Willow logs, or better
  • No extra logs given
  • Bathe in salt-water pool immediately before first Trollheim teleportation
  • No mistakes in preparation
  • No misclicks

Optimal order:

  • #12 God Wars Dungeon
  • #13 Chaos altar
  • #14 Ice Plateau
  • #11 Trollheim
  • #10 Death Plateau
  • # 9 Burthorpe
  • # 8 Goblin village
  • # 2 Rag & Bone man
  • # 1 River Salve
  • # 3 Jolly Boar Inn
  • # 4 Varrock North-East Gate
  • # 5 Grand Exchange
  • # 6 Edgeville
  • # 7 Black Knight Fortress

Optimal items worn:

  • Anti-dragon shield
  • Ardougne cloak 3
  • Black d'hide body
  • Black d'hide chaps
  • Climbing boots
  • Digsite pendant (1+)
  • Dwarven Army Axe
  • Flame gloves
  • Ring of fire

Optimal items carried:

  • Combat bracelet (1+)
  • Goblin village sphere
  • Lumber yard scroll
  • Super restore (1+)
  • Trollheim teletab (2+)

Note: A means of energy restore is strongly advised, and additional teleport scrolls/tabs, charges on jewelry, and 4-doses of potions are suggested, in inventory. Warp9pnt9 19:39, October 19, 2011 (UTC)

I think it has something to do with the Elite Varrock tasks? Or some tasks... BawsMageTalk 20:23, October 31, 2013 (UTC)
It's indeed a reward from completing the Varrock's Elite Achievement Diary. I think there is simply a box next to each of the beacons where you can store a certain amount of one type of log. I am thinking it would be in a similar way as the Tool Leprechaun storing farming equipment, I have not actually done All Fired Up since I completed the diary. Mistakes in Article

Under notes, it says you must achieve each reward separately.  This is untrue, as I have only done the beacons once, and I lit ten of them.  I got the message about the ring after lighting my 6th, and got the message about the gloves after lighting my 10th, and the king gave me both rewards, one at a time. Also under notes, it says to acquire awards the beacons must be lit in order/series, this is not true, as I lit 1-7, 9-10, and 14, and received my rewards just fine. 21:10, October 23, 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for pointing those out; the mistakes have been rectified. :) Alchez 12:30, October 24, 2014 (UTC)
