Wikipedia:RuneScape armour is under deletion vote. Time to collect anything useful (possibly going back to an older version with more detail). Ace of Risk 17:26, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Make a note on my talk page if it's already gone. I'm an admin at English, so I can get information from deleted articles. -- Ricky81682 00:59, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

I noticed a mistake: the dwarven helm give a +6 crush attack bonus, and not5 like said... this should be changed.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zebe311 (talk).

Ranged armour and melee stats

The ranged armour section states that it does not affect melee stats; whilst in almost all sets of ranged armour that is true is it not worth mentioning that armadyl armour DOES affect melee stats?

Summoning

I realized that we will have to go through all of our Armour topics and add the new summoning bonuses. The template for equipment will need to be changed to add this bonus to it. Dark shark31 21:31, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

I already changed the template. However, "summoning" is quite a long word so I put the picture instead... not sure if it's the best option though. Second-abyssal-whipPatheticcockroachGuthan's platebody(Talk) 21:40, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
I don't think that the picture will be good, if all the others are skills. If it's too small, just condence the letters closer together or something.

Max Strength bonus for f2p

This section does not make sense because you cannot wear both a berserker shield and a 2h. Maybe this should be changed. 75.155.102.10 18:34, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

I just fixed a lot of misadded numbers in this section. Also fixed mismatched subs to the notes on the bottom. And there are no (t) or (g) vambraces....removed all references to that. Added in Magic Staff for max magic defence Ddaanniiellh 06:55, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Attack Vs. Defence

Do we really need to have the defence bonuses for the armour on the attack table? For example (ranged attack)...

Item Image Ranged attack bonus Ranged defence bonus
Armadyl helmet Armadyl helmet +10 +8 70 ranged and 70 defence
Ranger boots Ranger boots +8 0 40 ranged
Armadyl chestplate Armadyl chestplate +33 +57 70 ranged and 70 defence
etc...

I don't think its needed. The table listing the greatest ranged defence is underneath the table listing the greatest ranged attack (and the same for all other attack styles).

The choices are:

  • Delete that column (for all tables), and only have the bonus related to the table;
  • Or, list all bonuses (in all tables).

Either one I'd be happy to do, I just thought I'd ask for a community decision. Weird gloop @Gaz#7521 18:48, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

Max Prayer Bonus, Skill Cape Pictures

Runecrafting Guild

I just thought I might add that a Runecrafting staff gives a 15+ magic boost instead of 10+ for a regular Magic Staff. So in time you should update the list.

Costs

A point raised by Jdogy15 on Talk:Ranged - adding a note saying the total cost for all parts of the outfits for each highest bonus tables. It would be quite useful - what does the comunity think? Weird gloop @Gaz#7521 18:28, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

I for one support it, (obviously because im jdogy15) and to my dismay every article i put the cost for each one was deleted. it does take a little work to find and calculate those. (i put it up on ranged, strength, and magic). Jdogy15 22:58, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

new high f2p

Regarding Ancient Warriors' Equipment

Right. With a lot of the Ancient Warriors' Equipment now being the best available for a lot of things, we need to know what to list in the Best Bonuses sections. Should we list:

  1. The attack/magic/ranged/defence level for the corrupt versions (i.e. level 20, like here).
  2. The levels for the normal versions (i.e. level 78, like here).
  3. Or, not list them at all, and instead use the next best item, that doesn't disintegrate after a short period. (i.e. if barrows armour is the best, use that - it doesn't disintegrate, it degrades and is repairable; like here (see crush specifically))

In all cases leaving a note stating the next-best non-disintergrating armour (or, in the case of number 3, the relative Ancient Warriors' armour, explaining that it disintegrates), the bonus for that item, and new total bonus with that/those items.

The wiki needs consistancy in this region!

Hope a consensus is reached. Weird gloop @Gaz#7521 21:13, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

No Best Melee Attack Bonuses for Block Attack Style

Can somebody do with it?:)--193.138.240.146 13:06, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

PvP Armour

I think that PvP armour should not be put up in the main table because of it's disintegration, however it should be in the notes underneath saying that it has higher statistics, however it will disappear after an hour. Zaros FTW! I R Zaros Talk 18:05, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

I agree, pvp armour isn't that practical for most people to use due to its current price. Or maybe make a separate table for it? Empty boxrriceCrabclaw and hook 01:26, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

F2P Max Magic Damage

In the article, it says that combat robes can boost the maximum hit of fire blast. Seeing as I am ranked 82nd in fog at the time of posting this comment, and as such I can easily get combat robes, I'm going to see if this is true, or just a rumor. --Its a Pwner 00:08, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

I'm guessing that's mis-information, as only two things boost the max hit of any spell: chaos gauntlets for bolt spells, and a the castlewars brace's effect when fighting the banner carrier. Though it may be true; we shall have to wait and see. Weird gloop @Gaz#7521 18:12, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Free Equipment Section

I thought this might be interesting, there could be a section listing the best armor you can get replaced for free. Stuff like achievement diary rewards and quest rewards like the ram helm. It could be useful for people not wanting to risk expensive armor in a dangerous situation.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by KaBob799 (talk).

That does sound like an interesting concept, however I can't image the list of free items that give stats would be very long. http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu33/Psycho_Robot/Sigs%20and%20Avatars/kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar 18:58, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Well, this isn't a complete list but we have Sea Boots, Varrock Platebody, Falador Shield, Explorers Ring, Bonesack/Ram Helm, Seers Headband, Anti-Dragon shield, Beacon Ring, Gnome Amulet, and Karamja Gloves. I guess it could also include any item which spawns on the ground somewhere in runescape, and theres certainly gonna be more achievement diary awards in the future. Actually, I guess there could be a category or page to list all these items as well.--KaBob799 19:30, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

4. All god capes (Saradomin, Guthix and Zamorak) give the same bonuses.

No weapon chosen, since I'm not sure of it (excalibur, enhanced excalibur, silverlight and darklight aren't free to get back, they cost 500/1000 coins). I chose the bonesack to have a cape, but the ram skull helm probably would end up with better bonuses... of course you can't have both. Weird gloop @Gaz#7521 21:23, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Once again Gaz to the rescue! Don't forget that the new quest gives us a choice between Bonesack(e) and a Ram Skull Helm(e), although I'm not sure what the stats are now, or what the cost is (if any). I'm gonna add the Training sword (the only completely free weapon I am aware of) and the Family gauntlets from Family Crest, but I can't do it right now because I have to leave soon. Although knowing Gaz they'll be here by the time I get back! http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu33/Psycho_Robot/Sigs%20and%20Avatars/kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar 22:40, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Well I'm guessing we would be better off using the Ram Helm than the Bonesack, if this is supposed to be best stats possible. Someone needs to confirm this, but are the god capes re-obtainable? Also, the Beacon Ring is +2 magic attack and +1 magic defence which is fairly equal to the Explorers Ring. I added the Gnome Amulet and agile legs (agile top needs to replace varrock armor) and tweaked the karamja gloves info. Also, if we do add a weapon, wolfbane would count. Which bonus are we aiming for here though?--KaBob799 23:11, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Added wolfbane (training sword however gives better slash and crush defence), changed to ram skull helm (bonesack(e) has +6 rather than +4 apparently, so I guess ram skull helm(e) has increased stats too; RS Game Guide doesn't mention them though), changed to family gauntlets (better bonuses in general than karamja gloves), changed to Agile top (better defences and no reduced offensives), added god capes (good catch, they are freely re-obtainable).
What bonuses? Well what I see here is a good, compiled list of bonuses with ifs and buts - using your example: if you want prayer bonus, go with the explorer's ring, but if you want magic attack the beacon ring is better, and for everything else both are equal; another: for magic defence and prayer, go with the seers' headband, otherwise ram skull helm all the way. We can format these into multiple tables later. Weird gloop @Gaz#7521 00:47, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
I think that the setup we have here can go down as the best melee setup, however we might need to make separate setups for best free mage and range gear. Individual best stab/slash/crush defense/attack probably isn't worth going into a lot of detail. I dunno, there's no reason not to I guess... Also should we consider negligable costs? Like what about Climbing boots? Those are like 15 gp, and even the 1k cost of the Enhanced excalibur is pretty tiny for something which is a LOT better than Wolfbane. http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu33/Psycho_Robot/Sigs%20and%20Avatars/kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar 00:54, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
If we do a seperate page for the more specific stuff we could have a "items worth almost nothing" section, but I think it would be too much to add to this page. For this page we could just have top melee, top range, and top mage and leave the stab/slash stuff for the seperate page.--KaBob799 01:09, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

I just added in the Ram Skull Helm(e) (as it turns out its only +2-4 better than the normal, I should have expected as much!) and also changed the tense to have it all in the past tense, since I think it sounds better, lulz Lol http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu33/Psycho_Robot/Sigs%20and%20Avatars/kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar 01:27, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Disorganized and Unnecessary

This article tries to do too much. I don't think it needs to include a text summary of each type of armor. Tables with the names, required levels, and stat bonuses will do. Tables with show/hide buttons would be much more organized and clean. If readers want more information about items, then they can click the link in the table.

Is it possible to add more collapsible Contents list at the top? The Contents list is too long, I think. For example, opening the contents, it would show sections 1,2,3,4, and so on. Then, if I click on 4, it will allow me to select subsections 4.1,4.2, etc.

The Prayer Armour section should be the same as the first three sections with a link to another article about Prayer Armour, which would link specifically to articles about temple knight armour, vestment robes, and so on, where the back-story would be covered.

Shouldn't Prayer Armour have Prayer Bonus included in the table?

Why is Max Hit included in the Armour article? Should that be an article in its own?

In the Max Hit-Melee section, somebody said that the information is out of date and gave the correct information, but left the old information... I'm unsure whether this person is correct, so I'll leave it alone.

Do the subpages really need to be capitalized? He has knocked four times. 17:58, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

Can we add the "Defending" bonuses for armour? If u look at bandos and subjugation boots, they are identical apart from the "melee" and "magic" thing. however, actually, subjucation give more "defending" stats against melee than mage than range, whereas bandos give more "defending" stats against range, then melee, then magic. so i think this should be added as it is stat info about items.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 90.197.6.185 (talk).

I would think that'd be implicit if a section about armour rating was added in or alluded to within the article. Psychemaster (talk) 18:13, February 6, 2013 (UTC)

Armour & LP rating curve & formula?

I was wondering if there was a page with a graph (maybe an interactive one, like the GE-price graphs) or a table where the different requirement-levels were listed alongside of the Armour & LP rating? Well, just the formula would be fine too. Or is there an easy way to do that? Thanks ;) . . . Yours, This user admires the Void Knights. Who aim to maintain Gielinor's Equilibrium. Hybrid vs All

From the RS forums:

Jazztronik said:
All-Class items and Hybrid-class Items do two different things
All-Class items allocate your total defensive ratings to each aspect of the combat triangle based on the affinity of each armour piece you are wearing until it can get your defensive ratings for each side as even as possible
Hybird-Class items adds armour ratings to each aspect of the combat triangle equally, regardless of what other armour pieces you are wearing.
Fun experiment:
Equip nothing but full Akrisae Armour (A Hybrid-Armour Set) and swap between an Onyx Ring (i) and a Tokkul-Zo. The Tokkul-Zo will add armour ratings to all 3 aspects of the combat triangle while the Onyx Ring does absolutely nothing (it will be the same as if you wore no ring). This is because Hybrid Armour adds armour ratings to each part of the combat triangle, so there is nothing for the Onyx Ring (i) - an all-Class item - to allocate since the armour ratings for Ranged, Melee, and Magic are already equal.
Hybrid-Class Armour is pretty good all-around, it pretty much goes with anything nicely. All-Class Armour is best used when you're mixing and matching different classes of armour and you need a way to allocate your defenses to be as even as possible.
