Critical hits?[]

Does it allow critical hits just like the magical blastbox does? I think an answer would improve the quality of this article and make it clear to a lot of players if this item is worth it or not. ~Wisest Playa

Stats/wield info[]

Quoted from currently article "meaning that one would only have to use one inventory space when casting these spells." - Well, sorry but you have to wield the Celestial Surgebox (off-hand/shield slot) in order to use the runes stored into it.. Thus I think this line should be corrected and a Stats template + screenshot would be nice. Ult Combo 07:18, November 3, 2010 (UTC)

This line is actually taken directly from the knowledge base (which has been known to be wrong on several occasions). If you know for certain that the information is incorrect, then Be bold and change it. Also note that its possible that they differ slightly in and out of Daemonheim - which one were you referring to? Henneyj 17:45, November 3, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I'm aware of that - Even the Rewards trader info says the same as KB, and I was referring to both inside Daemonheim (I have one bound) as well as outside since my friend just confirmed it, well, having 450k spare tokens guess I'll spend a few of them to make sure and add it to the article. Ult Combo 17:53, November 3, 2010 (UTC)
Just bought and tested it, the main difference is that the (default) left-click action outside Daemonheim is "Wield", while inside Daemonheim it's "Charge" (might be a glitch, also inside Daemonheim, upon binding it, the inventory icon decreases in size drastically). The functionality is about the same, and yeah, you can only use the runes stored in it if you're wielding the Surgebox. Stat modifiers are +7 to both Magical attack and defence, nothing else. I don't know about "critical hit" people talks about from the blastbox as I've never had it, so I don't know if the surgebox has said critical hit or not. I'll update the article now ;p Ult Combo 18:06, November 3, 2010 (UTC)

Bind limit[]

Does the surgebox count towards the ammo bind limit when its bound with its charges? And do you start with 125 charges of the spell each time after you have charged it with 125 casts or do you have to recharge it each time?

~Gohankuten

Just got a blastbox from a mage and tested. It takes the ammo bind spot so you can't bind it if you already have ammo bound.

Wield requirements?[]

I know it says that it's a magic/runecrafting/dungeoneering level of 70 to buy the box...but what about if you get it as a drop, what are the requirements to wield it? I'd like to know, before I do something silly like put a bunch of runes into it, and replace my stack of bound blood runes with something I can't use. 76.186.211.42 07:49, November 27, 2010 (UTC)

Also, random thought...it says it uses the ammo bind spot...but does that mean that it goes in that equip slot inside daemonheim only, or just that it counts as said bound ammo, and it's still an offhand item? --Jimwormmaster 10:34, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

I believe it's still offhand, just counts as ammo for binding purposes --Henneyj 21:36, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

I have a similar question. Do I need 70 Runecrafting to wield the version of the box dropped within Daemonheim? I would like to know if I should spend endless hours training to get 70 Runecrafting before I join members (currently F2P). I only want to do Dungeoneering during the time I will be a member, using Fire Surge. - Memphus

Yes, the Daemonheim version requires 70 Runecrafting as well. --Andorin (Talk) (Contribs) 00:53, January 3, 2011 (UTC)

wave = surge + wave??[]

when you set the box to wave, you essentially use the same runes for surge + a few extra ones. So could you use surge spells too when u set it to wave? -- I don't think so, but it might be possible? Leon Art 09:51, April 4, 2011 (UTC)

No. It only provides runes for the kind of spells it's set to. With a magical blastbox set to bolt for example, you wouldn't be able to use crumble undead. Kwekko 08:45, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

What about: with staff of light +combat robes?[]

How does this work when it's used with thestaff of light (and combat robes) - they have a rune-saving ability...? Leon Art 10:06, April 4, 2011 (UTC)

The staff of light does indeed save a charge on the surgebox, but I don't know for sure if the combat robes would, but it seems unlikely considering the combat robes only supply cataclytic runes and not air runes, which are required to charge the surgebox.. Intheknight 18:21, August 17, 2011 (UTC)

Kept on Death?[]

Upon death, if you have three items protect over it, does it appear on your gravestone or just disintegrate? 65.95.22.170 13:52, April 8, 2011 (UTC)

If you have three items that protect over another item, then this item will appear at your gravestone. Except in the wilderness, where you get no gravestone. There are also a few exceptions such as quest, task, and holiday items. These are usually reobtained from the NPC you received it from, rather than at your gravestone. Henneyj 14:15, April 8, 2011 (UTC)
Sorry didn't even check the article properly, thought that was a general question >_< My guess is it will be at gravestone, I'll try and look into it. Henneyj 14:23, April 8, 2011 (UTC)
Ok looked into it and apparently chaotic equipment will appear at your gravestone (see here). Since this is also dungeoneering equipment I would be very surprised if it didn't also. --Henneyj 14:37, April 8, 2011 (UTC)

Interaction with Salt in the Wound reward[]

So, the reward from the new quest increases your bound ammo limit to 225, rather than 125. Does that mean that the max capacity of the box increases as well, since it counts as bound ammo? Jimwormmaster 03:57, July 6, 2011 (UTC)

Yes.

please add this.[]

well, someone decided my edit wasn't good enough, but it should be known that the counter for critical hits does not reset when drinking a potion, it only resets when the casting is delayed at all. i.e. only when you eat a piece of food, since it delays your combat, and not when you drink a prayer potion, and the counter will continue onto the next monster if there is no delay. also, the staff of light does save charges on the surgebox, and it should be stated that it may be charged as much as desired outside of daemonheim. Hidden update?[]

http://i.imgur.com/WwlgR.jpg

I took this screenshot while on an ice wyrm task today. It shows an extra hit with surgebox effect that seems to be way over 25% that it used to be..It's happened quite a few times during this task with the extra hit ranging between 60 and 90% of the original hit, not sure if it's random or what.

It's not mentioned in the patch notes as far as I know and none of my friends have surgeboxes to help confirm, hopefully one of you guys can help Linear Spoon 18:39, October 10, 2011 (UTC)

Death[]

If you die with the surgebox, will the charges be retained if you retrieve it? Nothing special here. (talk) 23:18, October 26, 2012 (UTC)
