## Final Day

It says the clues can be completed on the final day, but when is the final day? 90.211.203.83 12:34, August 23, 2010 (UTC)

The hairdresser in part 4 said something about the next one being the last pages, so I think part 5 is the last one. Arimu 17:14, August 23, 2010 (UTC)
Arimu is right the hairdresser hinted this is the final day Lolcake999 17:23, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

## Solution

The explanation for the solution needs to be posted so people can understand how that conclusion was reached.

Yeah, I'd really like to know how you would figure to go to Lowe.
2 uncut ruby, 6 bronze mace, 4 fire rune.
Good Luck Guys :D
Cheers,

## Gallery

Shouldn't we remove the gallery towards the bottom instead of having it near the top? 17:47, August 20, 2010 (UTC)

In agreement

I agree with the comment about explaining how the solution is reached. Simply having a table with numbers is not sufficient and I'm still confused.

It does explain how the solution is reached. It's not rocket science. Where it said to read capital letters, well this can't be explained further. And the table with numbers is the clue. The solution is reached with simple assiociation.

## 2nd day Cryptic Clue

Im pretty sure that a gold amulet works fine too.... cuz thats what i used Death will follow you...but you can survive 02:29, August 23, 2010 (UTC)

## The Book Chapters

Maybe we should put in the first 2 parts of the forum story as well? 218.250.103.215 11:55, August 24, 2010 (UTC)maorbluefat

## Just got finished with it...

I just got finished with the table, and somebody's locked the page and put a picture of the table in.

 File:Bronze med helm.png File:Raw Herring.png

Should we use my table or keep the screenshot? I personally don't care, but it took me quite a while of effort to make this...

Oh and btw, i used to be Ip adress 173.15.59.182, i just recently created an account.

Kuilin 15:11, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

the gems on the falador store are 46

EDIT: Jagex made a mistake and have corrected the table so some items have shifted, I.E Fire Runes, Pure Essence etc.

## Maybe some errors of calculation (Varrock Castle's Statues and Armors (All Floor))

Before the site went out I had time to count the statues on ground floor. (a) armor (s) statues

4(a) in royal chamber

4(a) at diner tables

corridor 5(a)-south 7(a)-North 1(s)-north

North stairs 6(a)

3(s) west wall with crates

2(s) fountains

29 in all

EDIT: I saw 26 on the article

Edit 2: 1st floor : 3(a) east-corridor 2(a) east-room 4(a) west-corridor {9 in all, not 10]

6 armor top floor

29+9+6=44

you counted more or less right, but you made errors in calculation. on your base floor, you have 32 with suits and status(4+4+5+7+1+6+3+2).+6 on the second and +9 on the first floor is 47. The two at the fountain don't count though, so its 45 and that's correct. - Jonanananas 22:15, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

## statues and suits of armour in varrock palace

To the already mentioned 42 armours and statues in varrocks palace and grounds, the editors forgot to count the 3 statues outside on the western wall of the yard, directly south of the entrance to the palace and the 2 statues at the fountain on the western wall to the Grand Exchange. So there are in total 47, not 42. Apart from that, I counted 6 statues and 41 suits of armour which also equals 47. So bring 6 cakes.

17:23, August 24, 2010 (UTC)~~chriggle7517:23, August 24, 2010 (UTC)~~

the ones at the fountain don't count Jonanananas 22:15, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

## Mathematics are correct, clarifications have been made

User:Lil diriz 77/Signatures 17:24, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

## Confirmed the solution to Clue #5

6 bronze maces, 2 uncut rubys, 4 fire runes. Please do not change the article, as these items are 100% correct. Show these items to Ranael. User:Lil diriz 77/Signatures 17:44, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

- Can anyone else confirm this?

Those items correspond to 9, 40 and 8 on the current grid, in the order of key 1, 2 and 3. The answers are right now off, can anyone give an explanation? Ergori 18:01, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

- The number of gems in the gem shop is not 40, its 46. There are some boxes with 2 gems in the one box. That makes the formula 46-(18+19) = 9 which gives the right answer as the 2 rubies. - mik0082Mik0082 22:19, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

- Just so people don't waste time and money acquiring rubies for nothing, could someone post a screenshot of solving the clue with the inventory showing to confirm this solution? 18:08, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

- Without a screenshot though, and for what it's worth, I can confim these items work. 83.101.44.209 18:12, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

- Okay, I confirmed it as well. I've even got a screenshot of it. It still seems odd that they would include rubies in an event for all players, though. 18:57, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

I can confirm also, though frankly this clue is ridiculous as the calculations and grid don't match. I'm just mad at the calculations, the magic square was fun. Ergori 18:15, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

## Tomorrow's Items

As I cannot edit the actual page, adding this here for now:

When you talk to Ranael, she tells you to go to the Author of the Mysterious book, and show him:

2 of the first item, of the first clue; 6 of the second item, of the 4th clue; and 1 of the second item of the 5th clue. Looking these up, we'll need: 2 Pike, 6 Earth runes and 1 Bronze mace. The Author should be revealed in tomorrow's clue. 83.101.44.209 17:53, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

## Finding the Author

the items are:

n°2 of 1° item of 1°clue = 2 pikes

n°6 of 2° item of 4° clue = 6 earth runes

n°1 of 2° item of 5° clue = 1 bronze mace

the author is reveled on the book, maybe we need to read the book on rs forum?

sssshhhh -.-

## Move the picture of the Investigator's Clothing into the Spoiler?

Right now the picture of the rewards are outside the spoiler (New_reward.jpg) which defeats the purpose of the spoiler. Snow Lion 18:21, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

Feel free to do it yourself! Be bold! THE TIME LORD VICTORIOUS 18:24, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

## Item

My friend found out you need two Uncut Rubies, six Bronze Maces (link redirects to maces because bronze mace doesn't work), and four Fire Runes. 18:51, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

My other friend said there is part 2 that you have to complete. It requires Two pikes, 6 Earth Runes, One Bronze Mace. 18:55, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

## The Counting.

Right I'm fairly certain of my numbers now:
M: 46 Gems - Jagex said so on twitter
P: 18 Blue Flowers - I've like tripled checked
N: 19 - Must exclude the none-cuttable one that amde it 20, else equation fails
S: 5 Broken statues - Easily counted
Q: 45 Statues/armour suits - S proves this must be true to get outcome
Z: 83 Cabbages - One of the easy couns
Y: 41 Weapons - With the shield swords etc. I've tripled checked.
X: 132 Candles - Never quite landed on this with my counts, but it must be for sum to work.

And these work.

46-(19+18)=9 Square 9 is ruby

45 - 5 = 40 whihc is bronze mace

132-(83+41)=8 square 8 is fire rune

Jonanananas 22:16, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

## SPOILER! Author of the book!

the author of the book is duke horacio. you need to take 6 earth runes, 1 bronze maze and 2 pikes(which are 6 of the 2nd item of day 4, 1 of the 2nd item of day 5 and 2 of the 1st item of day one) Jonanananas 22:18, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

How was the author found? Was there a clue or did someone just stumble upon it while talking to him? User:Lunt0er/signature 22:25, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

If you follwoed the forum posts:

Its written in first person so we assume authro = narrator

Chapter 1 is "Lumbridge Confidential" - so author probably in lumby (even says "The sun had begun to dip slowly beneath the horizon, bringing another quiet day in Lumbridge to a close.")

Further quotes

"I was making some final adjustments to a log I was writing when I heard the sound of somebody knocking on the oak, front door of my humble home."

adjustments to a log - suggests a manager of some sort ege a duke

Oak Front Door - lumby castle doors match oak colouring

Humble home - richies often call their home "humble" if it ain't insanely massiiiivvvve (whihc lumby castle aint compared to others in game)
"The envelope’s large, red; wax seal was emblazoned with a strange symbol. I carefully plucked it free and headed back inside to open it"

Wax Seal on letters is what richies did in medieval type times so likely writer is a richie and/or narrator (who may be author) is a richie

Not entirely 100% solid and requires a bit of a leap, but enough to point to Duke (though apprently we get a proper hint tomorrow)

well I personally unwillingly got spoiled the author in a forum post :( I tested it and it works. Jonanananas 22:52, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

Wait doesn't it say Duke Horatio's novel (unfinished)? Or is that just because I finished it already?

## Getting The Reward Back

Says that you get it back from Diango when you right click to destroy. 10derfoot 02:48, August 25, 2010 (UTC)10derfoot

Was the Mag Glass re-released then? So we can assume that each year they will re-release all cryptic clue rewards?

## Duke Horacio Location

It says that Duke Horacio's location is the First Floor, but it is one of the rooms on the second floor.

---Drake Jagz 10:02, August 25, 2010 (UTC)

You are speaking of it as the American floor system (1st, 2nd, 3rd), we use the British floor system (Ground, 1st, 2nd), as Jagex is British. 10:16, August 25, 2010 (UTC)
Oh ok ok
---Drake Jagz 10:56, August 25, 2010 (UTC)

## 100% correct counting, it now works!

Did some counting myself, and here is what I got

M = 46 gems (7 hanging on the wall, 16 in the big showcase on the table, 6 in small cases on the same table[one of them is a double one], 3 lying freely at the chisel, 8 in the glass cabinet[1 of the 7 cases has two gems], 6 at the table near the door[another 2 gems in one case] )

P = 18 blue flowers(6 in ne patch, 5 in nw, 4 in se and 3 in sw patch)

N = 20 trees without the "dying" one is correct. (mod mark h confirmed that the one in the middle counts)(1 in the middle. 2 normal near the tree patch. 6 normals at the south entrance. 3 oaks nw of the south entrance. 5 normals farther north. and 3 yews. that's 1+2+6+3+5+3 = 20)

M - (N+P) = 46-(18+20) = 8, that's two rubies.

Q = 45 statues(3 stone statues outside(the ones at the fountain don't count) + 1 stone statue inside , 6 suits on the second floor in one of the towers, 9 on the first floor and 26 on the base level)

S = 5 broken statues(easy)

Q -S = 45 - 5 = 40, that's correct(six bronze maces

X = 160 candles: If you really count all candles you have 160(12+119+4+25 = 160) (12 hanging on the wall, 4 on single candlesticks, 25 on 5 candlesticks holding 5 candles. single candles: 119 (left side below coffin: 3*14+2*6 = 54)(right side below coffin: 2*14 + 7 + 6 = 41)(12 on either side next to the coffin makes 24)

Y = 41 weapons(6 on the first floor(not the one in stone), 35 on base level including swords behind shield but not those on posters)

X - (Z+Y) = 160 - (83+ 41) = 36

this is four fire runes!

Jagex finally managed to get it right. Can an admin edit this into the article?

## Ende?

Is there currently any knowledge of when the clue fest will no longer be completeable? I will be unable to access a computer till Tuesday (first week of September), and I haven't gotten my main to part five. This will be the last day until Tuesday I can be on. How long did the last clue fest go for?--Canifis 20:19, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

It will last until the 3rd of September, although I do not know until which time exactly.
