Chronozon - Mass experience?

Hello, my friends. I was thinking about how Chronozon is only killable when weakened by all four elemental spells. (Otherwise, he'll merely heal when he gets to low health.) Don't you think that someone could take advantage of this and not weaken him, and instead just him as a source of AFKable experience for their chosen combat style? Of course, they would have to be able to tank them, and he is rather high in combat. Perhaps they would be able to safe-spot him, with ranged, mage, or a halberd? Not sure if there are safe-spots in the Tower. Anyway, please discuss. (Also, just wondering - how many elemental and catylic runes does the Tower supply you with when faced with him?)

Well, there was an update to limit the number of times you can do that (or the total exp gain) to certain monsters in the Tower, so it shouldn't be much of a problem anymore. Believe it or not, it's just me... 01:31, December 1, 2011 (UTC)

Whos do you want to appear?

What bosses do you think will be here from the release? Ma? im hoping for Nomad at the very least. That way we can practice certain straegys to our hearts content. what do you think? Primal Link 15:51, October 2, 2011 (UTC)

It's the ones we picked from the few polls they made. Like Elvarg...and I forgot the others. I think Nomad was also picked though. ɳex undique 15:53, October 2, 2011 (UTC)
well if they say around 50, and i have done my fair share of quest (300+ qps) i think they may include every boss monster. Statue of Dahmaroc (12 pieces) Wolfblade744 Statue of Dahmaroc (12 pieces) 13:52, October 3, 2011 (UTC)

if its being released after runefest that means its being released on october 31...which is definitly not right.

They said "Last week of October", but they also said that people attending RuneFest get to play it on test servers as a sneak peek. ɳex undique 21:29, October 3, 2011 (UTC)

I think the exact wording was "very end of the month", and as there's only one day left in the month after runefest, where the sneak peek is being given, it's pretty obvious when the tower will be released. Small recharge gem AnselaJonla Slayer-icon 13:53, October 28, 2011 (UTC)

Dominion Tower Location

With the bot nuke update today the world map was also updated. To the west of the Bandit Camp in the desert there is now an island with a large circular area which I think could be the tower. Like the media image it is surrounded by sand and water which also suggests this. Does anyone else agree? Vecna skullWildbeast300Dragon claw 22:33, October 25, 2011 (UTC)

Battlefield

I'm having a discussion woth someone on the runescape forums, he sais the battlefield seen on the picture with the demon is an Zarosion symbol, i think it isn't. Can someone please say i'm right? or aren't I?:p

The Zaros symbol has an X in the middle. The pattern on the floor doesn't. User:Urbancowgurl777/Signature 22:08, October 28, 2011 (UTC)

Rewards?

What rewards has everyone gotten so far? I have gotten xp book, adamant bolts, dagganoth bones, runite bolts, adamant bolts, blood runes, soul runes, death runes, big bones, rune arrows, adamant arrows, scorpion meat and the dom potions. Shinydarkrai94 16:59, November 1, 2011 (UTC)

Wow I did the chicken special event and got really crappy xp for wasting a full inventory of saradomin brew =/. Shinydarkrai94 17:18, November 1, 2011 (UTC)

I've gottten a Dominion crossbow (90 Range, I can't use it), upgrade to the Dom medallion, dragon bones, big bones, Dom emotes unlocked, in addition to the stuff listed above. I'll check again when I get back to the game, but that was about it. JAGZIMA 21:31, November 1, 2011 (UTC)

Yea I've gotten most of those. I've also gotten a journal page after completing endurance. Has anyone else gotten other pages from other modes? Shinydarkrai94 21:33, November 1, 2011 (UTC)

I did a handful of the climbing rounds, and I haven't gotten any journal pages at all yet. Do they appear in your inventory or reward box, or do you pick them up off the arena floor? Are they easy to miss? Eager minds are listening with sharp ears and baited breath! JAGZIMA 21:54, November 1, 2011 (UTC)
Sadly, I haven't got one yet. Even with 165 boss kills, not one journal page yet. Ryan PM 03:22, November 2, 2011 (UTC)
Hmm I have no idea. I thought it was related to the fact that I got my first dominion weapons when I got my journals. The first one I got from the reward box after beating 30 rounds of endurance. The second I got from the reward box after getting past round 15 in climber mode. Still not half of the pages though so it might just be random. Shinydarkrai94 03:25, November 2, 2011 (UTC)

Comment - Just listing what I got from 84 floors in Endurance (519,442 DF):
• 62 Scorpion meat
• 30 Dom super antipoison (full)
• 45 Nature runes
• 30 Rune arrow
• 11 Dagannoth bones
• 20 Dragon bones
• 5 Dom super prayer (full)
• 10 Runite bolts
• 1 Super restore (full)
• 10 Death runes
• 10 Adamant bolts
• 1 Adamant arrow
• 1 Blood rune
• Xp book
• Dominion crossbow
• Dominion crossbow

Got the options of:
• 98,834 Attack
• 92,910 Strength
• 86,674 Defence
• 47,702 Prayer
• 90,416 Magic
• 73,580 Ranged
• 92,910 Constitution
From the Book of XP (Xp book). Other useful information may be that I only used magic during the Chronozon floors, ranged on the Dag Mother/Gelan, melee for rest of floors. Another contributing factor might be levels in the combat skills, being 98, 95, 94, 95, 99, 90 and 97 respectively. Ryan PM 03:22, November 2, 2011 (UTC)

Orb tricks

The ceiling of the arena itself seems to be rather high, while the spectator's circle has a lower roof. The "quit" chain, (the one with the hook on it) seems to extend upward the highest. Going out side the tower, you can go up and down the walls, but if you go too far you plunge into an abyss. Anyone tried a sextant yet? ;) JAGZIMA 21:45, November 1, 2011 (UTC)

Strategies/Data

It seems to me that the fastest/most cost-effective way to get dominion points is to play endurance mode focusing on melee, but with ranged and magic armor/weapons in inventory (for the dagannoth mother and chronozon). If using a Dominion Crossbow, it would be expected to last around 200 kills (using only on the dagannoth/gelatinnoth mother). There is no need for food except in emergencies, so you could fill the rest of your inventory with 4-8 Scorpion meat, 4-8 Dominion Super Prayers, 3-5 Super Antifires, 2 Overloads, and a Spec Weapon (Dragon Claws are best). The Super Prayers are used against Koshei the Deathless (drink a dose right after he drains your prayer), the Super Antifires against Elvarg (drink a dose before going in), and the Overloads against Karamel (drink a dose as soon as you get hit by the "Semolina-Go" attack). It is a good idea to bring along a pair of ice gloves to kill Flambeed and his counterpart, but if you forget them, you can easily range-and-run. A combat familiar can attack Flambeed normally, so if you have an Iron/Steel Titan he can often be killed by the familiar alone while you kill the other two enemies. At the start of each battle, activate turmoil/piety and the appropriate protection prayer and most bosses will fall quickly. A combat familiar will provide a small boost on multicombat battles, but is by no means necessary.

With this setup, you can get about 50 wins per hour which, for me (combat lvl 137, maxed melee, 99 Magic, 95 Prayer, 93 Ranged, 95 Summoning) yields about 300k dominion factor per hour. Again, based on my levels, this yields around 60k melee exp or 30k prayer exp per hour, which is hardly "generous", but I suppose the other rewards are worth it. Is everyone getting around 6k dominon factor per win in Endurance mode after round 30, or is it based on combat lvl/quest points?

Also, I've fought over 200 battles in Endurance mode and never gotten Nomad, Decaying Avatar, or any other difficult boss (the hardest have been some of the RFD bosses), so I'm thinking they only come in Climber mode.

The drop rate for a Dominion crossbow seems to be about 1/30 or 1/40, based on 5 crossbows gotten. I'll update once I unlock a Dominion sword & staff, but I would assume they have the same drop rate.

The unique consumable Dominion Rewards include the following:

-Dom Saradomin Brew

-Dom Super Prayer

-Dom Super Antipoison

-Dom Super Restore

-Scorpion Meat

These all have the same effect as their "real-world" counterparts (scorpion meat heals 220), but only have two doses rather than four.

Players also receive a fair number of bones, including big bones, dagannoth bones, and dragon bones. They also received blood, death, and soul runes as well as adamant/rune arrows and bolts. It does not appear that these rewards are related to the monsters fought/gear used, as I have gotten adamant bolts/arrows despite using only rune bolts, and I've gotten far more dragon bones than Elvarg kills. Similarly, I have received blood, death, and soul runes despite not using any runes whatsoever.

Interestingly, the reward books are bankable, so players could theoretically get dozens of reward books now, and then save them until their skill levels are higher, so that they get better exp.

152.3.68.8 14:36, November 2, 2011 (UTC)

Yea, I use essentially the same strategy. Thanks for the tips, especially about the reward books. I didn't think of that. Also, I get roughly 6x xp as well. Shinydarkrai94 20:27, November 2, 2011 (UTC)

You can get "Class A" bosses in Endurance. When I first started playing it I did an Endurance run, floor 21 Zenevivia showed up and slaughtered me -.-

Clickable Table for handicaps

Handicaps seems to be in the same order every game. Should we make a table like the penguin locations so you can tick off which handicaps you already have, so you can see to which one the nudge goes?

No Power-ups
No potions
Life Saver
Reduced Melee attack
No shield
No food
Reduced Melee defence
Random freeze
Life points halved
No body armour
Reduced ranged attack
No familiar

No prayers
Slippery fingers
Reduced magic attack
Disease
No special attacks
Reduced magic defence
Random daze

Max floors

Well it's kinda interesting..the max floors you can do in endurance is 256 (I have it on video), but when you put out your marker, it says that you've done 250. Interesting glitch. Also, for those who are wondering, you stop getting dominion factor around round 165 so it's extremely wasteful to go up to 256 (like me). Shinydarkrai94 04:45, November 3, 2011 (UTC)

Endurance points

I kept track of the points that I got after 30 rounds of endurance. Once you get the reduced rate, you will get the following amount of points for these bosses (note: I don't have all of them because I haven't done all of the quests):

Definition of "Boss" for rewards?

Has anyone been able to tell if winning the matches against like the 4 Desert Treasure bosses counts as just "1" toward Boss Kill Count or do they count as "4"?

Bosses that have more then 1 boss still count as only 1 (Tested on Dagganoth Sentinals, 4 DT Guys and Gelentoth mother+Karamel) ~Elfangor

Indigestion special task

Does anyone have a strategy for this? I don't know what I'm missing here, but I keep getting destroyed in this challenge. It's the last one left for me, I've already done double Nomad and all the others, but this one is being very problematic for me. It's the one where you fight all RFD bosses at once with all the handicaps.

Hint

I found the "Hint: Staff of light and Enhanced Excalibur specials still work" given in the page did me no good. Died pretty quick the times I tried. Uffa 64 23:58, November 27, 2011 (UTC)

its pretty bad but the best way i found to do the task was to wear melee gear (torags and neitz) with a sol (spec'd) and used brews as i maged the monsters in this order: Karamel, Dessourt, Culromancer, Flambeed, Agrith Na-na, then the gellatini dagganoth. once u kill the culromancer, switch to melee pray ASAP. had to use brews and restores. reason for that order: karamel freezes you and drains your stats (Defense especially), dessourt uses mage, melee, and ranged, culromancer is the last mage guy, flambeed sometimes does a special where he hurts you for (i think) up to 200 damage with magical fire. agrith nana is the last meleer and then i swap to range prayer and take care of the dagannoth. this method barely worked for me as i had no brews left and half health when i was done with the mages. luckily the dagannoth missed a lot. my stats were 99 magic, 92 def, 94 constitution. wear ice gloves too. http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/9061/3x10flaminggreenskullfa.pngDomitan http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/9061/3x10flaminggreenskullfa.png 00:36, November 28, 2011 (UTC)

Nomad on Climber and Endurance

Does anyone have any advice/insight converning the rarity of getting Nomad? I've killed 369 bosses and have not saw him once. I've done a mixture of Endurance/Climber.

I've also heard through the grapevine that killing him in the Special match will count for the Goliath gloves, is this true? Cyan Lights

-- Before the hotfix that put Nomad in Climber and Endurance (he wasn't in them at all before 11/3), defeating him in the special challenge did not count, but with the update, yes the double Nomad challenge counts for the gloves now.

Update: Confirmed that it is possible to get Nomad on Endurance. He did whoop me good, but I got the pleasure of halving his health first. Cyan Lights

Problems

Noticed a few problems and glitches with the tower so far

  1. When using lunar magic and being provided the standard spellbook *temporarily* for chronozon, it can flip it over permanently. Accordingly, it is helpful to set aside a fair amount of time for the tower to avoid having to change back and forth constantly.
  2. If you need inventory space to pick up another item such as silverlight or balmung, any item you drop *can* disappear before the end of the battle. If it's an antifire shield and you face Elvarg without an equivalent replacement, you may as well quit that run as 99 stats are dropped to 40 and the firebreath attack is possible from a distance.
  3. As mentioned in the main article, the journal pages are best obtained through 1-boss fights in climber mode which completely defeats the purpose. Over 100 consecutive bosses in climber mode resulted in zero pages, and it seems unlikely that more than one page can be obtained at once.
  4. It is possible to get the same boss twice in a row, although I've yet to have one three times in a row. I presume this is the reason why lower level fights such as Argg and Black Knight Titan are far more common than others such as Zenevivia and Nomad.
  5. The reward in Endurance mode stops increasing after floor 29 and stops altogether around 150, which is fairly pathetic since it is quite possible to reach over the 200 mark. Hopefully this will change through the addition of further bosses in the future.
  6. When encountering a formidable boss such as Pest Queen in endurance mode, it seems that you are far more likely to get the Pest Queen a second and third time in that run, as opposed to one of the higher level bosses. 182.239.214.96 13:02, November 30, 2011 (UTC)
  7. When fighting the (everlasting?) and illusive with spectators, the illusive can disappear, requiring you to log out and log back in without spectators watching. This occurred in 3 consectuve games, and was only resolved with the removal of spectators. The match will start from the beginning, regardless of whether you killed the everlasting. 182.239.132.144 10:24, December 1, 2011 (UTC)
  8. If you poison Koschei the deathless in one of his first 3 forms, his last form can remain poisoned and die without the player needing to attack that form. Additionally, a special attack such as the DDS can split the damage among multiple forms, thus killing one form and damaging the next. 182.239.132.144 12:10, December 1, 2011 (UTC)
  9. If you manage to get the Black Knight Titan down to half health while stunned under 'monster stun', he will hit you and drain your prayer, and continue fighting as if no longer stunned. 182.239.132.144 12:16, December 1, 2011 (UTC)

Boss Tactics

Would it be a good idea to add dominion strategies on certain bosses pages where the tactic differs from that used in the quest? For instance, the four from Desert Treasure, although that might be handled better with a different page. I've never formatted a Wikipedia page but I could figure it out and work on the page if it seems like a good idea. Or maybe there is a page and I'm just blind

quest completion required?

Do you have to specficially finish the quest to fight the boss corresponding boss monster?

Can i just kill the second daggonoth mother and then fight her in the tower without finishing the blood runs deep quest?

Yes. you have to have completed the quest correspounding to that boss to access it within the tower first. than you have to do climber or endurance floors untill you get that boss and defeat it to be able to fight it in free for all mode, or you will have to find it again. Top of the tower

Has anyone ever actually managed to win the battle at the top of the tower? The article does give a strategy for how someone could do so. Has anyone ever actually accomplished it and if so, what/if any were the rewards?

Many have gone up there but very few have killed all the bosses at once or attempted id gather. The respawn rate on all the monsters is very fast and it would take alot to actualy kill them all. No there is no rewards according to Rs wiki on the website. Blue pyro01 17:41, March 21, 2012 (UTC)

Easy Endurance Mode?

So far, I've only had trouble with six of the bosses in Endurance Mode, pretty much all of them Class A. (It's mostly because I haven't bought Soul Split yet. Expensive damned thing.) Theoretically, couldn't someone simply do 20 quests with very easy bosses to run through Endurance and possibly Climber Mode quickly and easily? Not many great training opportunities are opened up from quests, and those that are have easy bosses.

Also curious about when the hell Elvarg's dragonfire drained prayer. I tried rushing at her without an antidragon shield and deflect magic, and one dragonfire blast both drained my prayer and health to zero. :(

Oh, and do kills in Freestyle Mode count toward the rewards that require kills? Dreadnips, gloves, etc.

98.249.218.100 02:11, June 5, 2012 (UTC)

I don't know about when Elvarg got the prayer drain, but it also happens slightly even with an anti-fire shield on. But I can confirm that freestyle does not count towards killcount for dreadnips. Slayer log Coelacanth0794 Talk Contribs 02:39, June 5, 2012 (UTC)
Well, I can personally attest that fighting Elvarg without dragonfire protection is as suicidal as fighting Nomad without prayer or food. Thanks for the Freestyle confirmation. 98.249.218.100 22:08, June 5, 2012 (UTC)

That cannot be accurately answered since no one has access to the Dominion Tower in the beta yet (as far as I know) and I have not seen any information regarding it in the beta. I would imagine that, with their new approach to combat, 115 should still suffice since that averages to about lv56 defence and some other skill, which some bosses can be beaten with easily (possibly more easily now given that no quest-specific creatures have been touched yet). I expect they'll make sure it's about the same amount of work either way, though. 98.249.218.100 06:53, July 7, 2012 (UTC)

Well, you can only access the top of the tower in the beta, but around level 170, it is really really easy to survive, as the bosses have not been updated (even though the Inadequacy has level 806 or something). However, I do assume that the level erquirement will be raised, seeing that I worked hard to get level 110 combat (with around level 80 combat skills), so I expect the new requirement to be about 160 or something. I also wonder how the Slayer master, Smoking Kills and Dream Mentor reqs will be adjusted. 18px-Avatar.png Fswe1 26px-Brassica_Prime_symbol.svg.png 08:35, July 7, 2012 (UTC)

Adventurer's Log

Does anyone know what the adventurer's log messages are for dominion tower? Are there ones for specific amount of floors on endurance? Certain monsters killed? Certain Special mode completion? D305 (talk) 23:11, July 16, 2012 (UTC)

There are messages only for 450 and 500 boss kills as far as I know. MolMan 23:14, July 16, 2012 (UTC)
The reason why I started wondering about this is because I started doing endurance and on my log I have "Reached floor 14 in endurance mode" but I died around the 30 mark.. So I'm not sure how that works. I did another run where I ended in the 30's again, but that's the last endurance mode message on my log from yesterday.. Any ideas?D305 (talk) 23:32, July 16, 2012 (UTC)
Maybe 14 was a new maximum for you at that point? that's the best I can think and maybe the game refused to do 16+ more messages/saying 30 just for the sake of updates. MolMan 23:34, July 16, 2012 (UTC)
Well the thing is that it was my first time doing that, so technically floor 1 would have been a new high for me. So I'm confused as to why it would decide 14 was so special when I made it to 30 in that one session.D305 (talk) 18:16, July 17, 2012 (UTC)
I believe certain achievements are logged, rather than interval goals (50th floor, 100th floor, etc.). My log, for example, said that I had killed 450 bosses and spectated a match, which is the exact requirements for dreadnips. Reaching endurance floor 15 (and therefore completing floor 14) is also an achievement, although why it omitted the floor 20 and 25 achievements is beyond me. Potentially a glitch? 98.249.218.100 22:19, July 18, 2012 (UTC)
