Bias?

"The Dragon longsword can be considered the 12th best weapon in the game, behind the Abyssal whip/Godsword, Dragon scimitar/Saradomin Sword and the Dragon battleaxe"

Is this sentence biased? Chozo01 06:14, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

I think it is because apparantly, the longsword beats the scimitar in all stats. --King x treme 02:27, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Well

Key word. Can. can in this sentance means that the writer is leaving it up to you, your descision to say that it is indeed the 4th best wep in the game.

dragon long VS dragon scimitar

Well i think this weapon is awesome, its special is nice taking only 25% of the special bar! And it gives better att and str bonus than dragon scimitar! Its good if u have very high att lvl but dragon scimmy is harder to get(u need monkey maddnes to use it) and has almost good stats as dragon long. So, which one is better???--Pvmatle

Scimmy is better for training, as it hits faster thus you get more XP/hour, but i love to pk with D long as the spec tends to hit 45's 78.20.153.111 11:21, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
There's no question that the Dragon longsword's special attack is a lot better than the scimitar's, but an even better special attack is that of the Dragon dagger (p++). Therefore, the best combination of weapons is using the DDP++ for its special attacks, then switching to the scimitar for normal fighting. Jagex did really bad job of balancing weapons, so as it turns out a scimitar is the best weapon to use in almost every single combat situation, when compared to all the other normal metal weapons (i.e. warhammers, battleaxes, maces, etc.). This is true even against platebodies. So if you always use a scimitar, you'll always have the best weapon. Unless you get an Abyssal whip. kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar 19:02, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
not true, the longsword is far more accurate than the scimmy, therefore it's sometimes better to use this over scimmy78.20.153.111 17:08, October 5, 2009 (UTC)

I agree, many people think that the dragon scimitar is the best weapon hands down. They are morons, the dragon longsword is more accurate and does more damage, hit more, more exp, more damage, more exp. Whos brilliant idea was it that the dragon scimitar was better if you had a higher strength compared to the dragon longsword? That would imply that its more accurate (which its not), so your powerful blows would hit more, and it doesnt do more damage, the dragon longsword beats it in every aspect other than speed, which doesnt matter if you cant hit or do a decent amount of damage because it SUCKS. That means the dragon longsword is better if you scimitar-wielding knuckle-draggers couldn't process it in that form of speech. Maybe if you had 99 att, str and def, the scim would be better, since you would hit almost every time anyway, and the damage difference would be small-medium. But even then, the dragon longsword would be better because of the special. Signed Larrel2. 17:35 January 24, 2010.

How about less of the rage and more of a logical argument? I think your rage discredits your argument and the logic you have so clearly (?) used in your argument. I don't care either way because I own a whip, but personally found that a scimmy when used with straight 60/70/80 stats was marginally faster training than a long. I used the same armour/shield setup, against the same creatures, the only conclusion that I could draw was that the stats difference was NEGLIGIBLE but indeed in favour of the long, however due to its SPEED the scimmy exceeded the xp potential of the long, at least with me. I won't deny the special attack is infinitely more handy in most situations than the scimitar, however. Important note, I didn't include dps of specials in this thought as when training 9 times out of 10 I used a DDS for specs. 195.137.81.78 10:23, January 21, 2011 (UTC)

Even though the dragon long has better stats (only slightly) and a better strength bonus, the dragon scimi is still a much better weapon for one reason: speed. A lot of people think a higher strength bonus means faster kills and more exp, but if you think about it, the faster speed of the scimi allows for many, many more hits. If you are in a battle between the dragon long and the scimi, most likely the scimi will win. If the battle lasts for a long time, the scimi will deal more and more damage over the long because it can get more hits in the same period of time that the long can. The slash bonus is only 2 or 3 under the long, so its really not much less accurate, while the strength bonus is 15 under (I think?), meaning you will hit just slightly less damage than the long, but you will hit many more times. Basically, the scimi is better in almost every single situation, except when you need the best stab bonus possible.

Oh sorry i forgot to sign that comment ^^^^ Dragon scimitar Candle Max Dragon claw 10:47, June 26, 2011 (UTC)

Stab is where the longsword really beats the scimitar- some enemies, such as dragons and tortoises, have very high slash defence, but low stab defence- and we can all agree that the longsword is the far better stabbing weapon

Speaking as a free player...

...and a British one, I have to say that it (and the dragon 2h) both bear remarkable resemblanses to a cheese knife. Except red. -- ile:Runecrafter hat.png Helm360Talkhiscore Mithril bar 20:03, October 21, 2009 (UTC)

Something missing?

Is there a reason for this page not having that little table on the right? The one that tells if it's tradeable, equippable, members only, alchemy price, etc.? Nothing special here. (talk) 06:54, November 24, 2012 (UTC)
