Finding a team - last line

For low-mid level none PvPers, teaming with a PvPer at the same level will speed up the round.

Is this supposed to be ... non-p2pers, teaming with a p2per ??? I'm not sure what they meant or I'd edit it myself. Mamabear47 07:58, July 18, 2010 (UTC)

I think that the editor meant pures. The combat level of pures makes the dungeoneering enemies just as easy, but with a high strength level they hit really hard. thismakes the dungeon a lot easier, just because the enemies are faster defeated. OneSantaPlz 21:34, July 30, 2010 (UTC)

I have several suggestions for improvement:

  • Use of terminology not consistent with Runescape nomenclature: "In the central 'Free-for-all' barrier, players are automatically teamed up to form a party to any floor." In gameplay, Runescape calls this functionality "automated grouping system."
  • Inconsistent use of terminology within the article: "... players are automatically teamed up to form a party ..." vs. "Since the release of Dungeoneering the autoteam barriers ...". Please use consistent reference to game functionality. And, see comment above about remaining consistent with Runescape's gameplay nomenclature.
  • Incorrect statement of game functionality: "NOTE: Since the release of Dungeoneering the autoteam barriers have not been used. " This statement is incorrect, as I have availed myself of the automated grouping system via the Free-for-all barrier many times over the course of the past few weeks.
  • Inconsistent reference to game functionality: "In the central 'Free-for-all' barrier, players are automatically teamed up to form a party ..." vs "Since the release of Dungeoneering the autoteam barriers ..." . In the first citation, there is only one barrier alluded to as possessing an automatic teamup function (see previous comment about using correct nomenclature), yet in the second citation, the use of  the term "autoteam barriers" (i.e., plural -- and again, refer to comment about correct nomenclature) implies there are other barriers that feature (or featured) automatic teamup functionality in addition to the Free-for-all barrier.

Ring of Kinship used on fire[]

If you use the Ring of Kinship on a fire, a message saying "The Ring seems to be resistant to the heat of the fire. There appears to be some text glowing, but you can't make it out," shows up. Does anyone have an idea to what this means?

I've heard on the forums that it's a clue to the future ring of kinship update with class rings.

It's a joke based on the Lord of The Rings....... LMAO ... good one though - Gathony

If you use the Ring of Kinship while inside of a dungeon on a fire you get a different message.

Some text starts to appear on the ring

It says...

"Nothing interesting happens."

It shows it in your text box like a regular examine option, should this be added or not? Codyage 06:52, August 8, 2010 (UTC)

Leaving a Dungeon and Soloing[]

I searched this guide and Wikia for a guide or even a section about leaving a dungeon AND soloing, as well as leaving a dungeon while soloing. I wanted that information to know the implications of leaving a dungeon while soloing. I couldn't find anything, which is embarassing for us, because they both seem to be very important things. Could someone add sections on those two things or direct me to them (in case I missed them?) I could add them later on, but not now...too inexperienced with dging. Thanks! Calculating experience per floor[]

Shouldnt there be a section about modifiers and base floor experience? About how each is calculated and what each are? Ergori 06:04, August 12, 2010 (UTC)

There's a Yew Grove discussion about it here, but I think the conclusion was that some of the formulae (for example that determining the base xp) are too complicated for us to guess. Stewbasic 11:30, August 12, 2010 (UTC)

First player to achieve level 120[]

As of today (23 August 2010), Telmomarques is verified by Jagex as the first to achieve level 120 Dungeoneering. Whilst players don't deserve articles, they can be mentioned in articles where relevant, including where a player is "first to reach level 99 in a skill (or level 120 in the case of Dungeoneering)". Some editors have already been removing references to this from the Dungeoneering article, but it seems clear to me that it should be here, given that a reliable source can be cited. If anyone would like to argue against this, or make any comments, etc. then please do so below. Otherwise policy is pretty clear on this. Exp Info?[]

Is there more detailed information on exactly how experience is calculated per floor? The little blurb about it on the page sucks.72.224.22.59 22:26, November 16, 2010 (UTC)

Basiclly, it's calculated by the amount of time jagex expects you to take to finish the dungeon. this is modified by the number of monsters you killed, how many times you died and how many rooms you unlocked. Sundays211 01:35, November 18, 2010 (UTC)
By more details I also mean numbers. Like the percent of exp you lose when you die, or how the exp bonus you get for doing a 5:5 over a 5:4. 72.224.22.59 03:16, November 18, 2010 (UTC)

Stockpiling[]

I've been stockpilling items while DGing, dropping all the stuff in smuggler room. Then I noticed that some of my items are missing and concluded that it couldn't handle so many items at a time. I couldn't find anything about that on this page so can anyone confirm and find the upper limit of items? The cheapest, oldest, and more common items seem to go first. Plokkey 01:39, February 4, 2011 (UTC)

Acctually Dungenoneering doesn't really like dropped items, especially in the main room. I usually leave things on the table because otherwise they dissapear. 107.2.207.154 22:05, May 7, 2012 (UTC)

dungeon size[]

how do you actually select dungeon size?

sometimes on a 5 man raid, the dungeon is med, and other times its large

Are you talking about when the party is manually created, or when you enter a barrier to automatically form a party? In the former case the party leader selects the size when they enter one of the dungeon entrances on the south wall. Stewbasic 15:02, February 12, 2011 (UTC)
exactly. i want to know about when the leader is forming the party. which side is what size? theres no info anywhere.

Skillers[]

Is it possible to have 99+ Dungeoneering but only be a combat level of 3? Also, do you have to defeat the boss in the last room to continue? Or is that just to get the item drop?

{{SUBST:user:2lucky/sig}} 05:51, February 18, 2011 (UTC)

Yes it is possible, I saw such a player. You need to defeat the boss to end the floor. Stewbasic 12:36, February 19, 2011 (UTC)
To be exact, the boss at the end of the floor needs to be defeated, it does not matter by whom. There are two ways to achieve the useless feat of having level 99 dungeoneering and combat level 3. Sitting around in the starting room while the rest of your team does the dungeons, or using lamps. My contributionsTHARKON 17:50, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

In the March 31st, 2004 BtS update, the last things mentioned were "Randomly generated scenarios, where a new adventure is generated for you and your friends each time you go on it." It sounds right, the main weird thing being that they just released Runecrafting, and between then and the release of Dungeoneering they released four other skills, Slayer, Construction, Hunter and Summoning. Perhaps they weren't intending it to be what it is now, or decided to abandon it to later revive it, I don't know. It seems to match, but it might be speculation. Link for anyone looking for it. Speed vs. completeness[]

Does anyone know if it's more effective (as in more productive in xp and tokens) to finish a whole lot of dungeons and only do the minimum than do only a few but do everything possible? Prestige helps, so I'd think the first would be better. Anyone else know for a fact, or have any strategy suggestions anyway?

18:33, May 15, 2011 (UTC)

I find it is much better to do them fast. What you should worry about is: not dieing, making sure you're on complexity 6, and making sure you are maximizing with you prestige. What prestige means is simply how many uniqu floors you have completed since you reset. (the more the better) This is averaged with a number depending on the floor you're completing for you base xp. The reason you would reset is because there is a points/xp penalty at the end if you do a floor for the second time without reseting. I would advise starting from floor 1 and going up sequentially instead of skipping around each time to maximize xp, though I'm not sure about reseting the instant you get to the max floor for that level. It seems to me that the penalty may be worth the prestige. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 208.126.230.183 (talk) on 01:54, 23 May 2011 (UTC).
As long as you complete every floor at least once between resets you never lose any prestige. So after completing all floors, yes, you should reset, except perhaps if you're close to leveling and might unlock another floor. Prestige is equal to MAX(amount of floors completed after last reset, amount of floors completed prior to last reset). My contributionsTHARKON 16:20, May 23, 2011 (UTC)
In my experience in dungeoneeering with 4 accounts to at least 60 dungeoneering in each of them with highest as 81 and all 4 accounts in f2p. I suggest you open all doors possible, regardless of boss being defeated or not. Rushing smalls in random parties is a lot less exp than doing a whole large dungeon organized. Reason being is because you are waste much more time trying to gather players for your party. I also suggest that the player's roles be organized. For example: the leader or person with highest defense key, one person fish and cook for the team, and one person mine and smith for the team. People debate all the time on if rushing smalls is better than doing long larges. The thing some don't understand, is that doing large floors quickly with an organized team is the best way. The priority of dungeoneering exp for the size of a dungeon is much less than the priority a good team is. Double Slap HSYou is callin ME chicken? 00:03, July 24, 2011 (UTC)

Is it possible to retain poison applied to a bound weapon such as a spear between floors? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.2.202.158 (talk) on 15:11, 5 June 2011 (UTC).

As explained here, you can apply poison to a bound item, or you can bind a poisoned item. Bound poisoned items remain poisoned (and of course bound). The only exception is that bound arrows cannot be poisoned as this would create two different kinds of bound ammo (poisoned and not poisoned). Poisoned arrows can of course still be bound. level mods[]

Ok so i skimmed through this page quickly looking for an answer but didn't find what i was looking for. My question is does anybody know what effects the level mod when you look at the breakdown of %exp at the end of each floor? i suspect that it has something to do with how many creatures you leave alive while doing the floor because i did a little experiment. Most players in f2p dung are extremely slow and stupid when it comes to floors so i rush small floors solo and was watching my mod's at the end of each floor to try and maximize my exp gain. after resetting i started off on floor 1 and floors 1-4 i was always getting a negative level mod to my % exp gain and i was only killing the stuff in guardian door rooms and the boss not doign any of the skill related things such as wc or mining as i rushed through unless needed to open a door. on floor 5 i decided to see if i could alter my level mod by killing things instead of just leaving them be as i ran through the floor. i found taht after beating floor 5 instead of having a -14% lvl mod or something my level mod was now +10%. has anybody else found similar things or figured out how to ensure your level mod is always positive? (i also gained about 1k more xp that floor because my level mod was positive and only took about 4minutes longer than letting everything live)  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 208.123.179.60 (talk) on 22:31, October 1 2011 (UTC).

Keyers NOT obsolete[]

A keyer is still required within dungeoneering to run the majority of key doors and manage the flow of guardian doors. They are the hosts of the dungeon who mark the rooms and signal to the rest of the team where the next guardian door is. THE ONLY THING THAT HAS CHANGED IS THAT NO MORE TELEPORTING BACK AND FORWARD TO THE GROUP GATESTONE TO EXCHANGE KEYS WITH THE KEYERS. Other than this essentially NOTHING has changed. yes others are able to more readily open doors... this doesn't make the keyers role obsolete... you need someone co-coordinating the dungeon for there to not be total chaos (some exceptions for higher level teams where there always was "multiple-keyers" but high level players wouldn't be reading this guide...Amun erebos 14:14, April 13, 2012 (UTC)

I think this article lacks this part. At first I didn't know how to accept an invitation. I'm now Dungeoneering level 67 but haven't played it for more than half a year. Yesterday I asked a party of clanmates to let me join. They surfaced soon and invited me and I hear the sound but couldn't find the message in any tab so couldn't accept it. What could be the problem? --Ypacaraí (talk) 01:50, July 19, 2012 (UTC)

Losing bound items on membership expiration[]

The page currently says that you are given the option to bind F2P items in place of your P2P items. This is true when you're a member and you go onto a F2p server, even whilst your membership is still active. My membership expired about a year ago, and I did not play F2P. I came back recently, and all that's left are my gorgonite arrows. Does losing membership actually result in the deletion of your items? Dsctatom (talk) 02:09, November 15, 2012 (UTC)

Their still there. There was an update that gives you the ability to have several sets (mage, melee and range) stored with the smugler, simply right click and and choese bound items, you will find you stuff there

Negative xp bonus after eoc?[]

Does anyone already know if the 50% negative xp bonus for a party with an average higher then 90 is still around after the eoc update? If people have already noticed this can some edit it in the introduction section of the article? I'm quite curious about this. Djdieter (talk) 20:52, January 7, 2013 (UTC)

Base EXP for each floor?[]

Does anyone have a table of data for the base experience of a floor? Puretppc (talk) 18:54, December 21, 2014 (UTC)

So far I haven't seen one anywhere, but I do know that the base XP shown in the interface also depends on how many rooms you opened, thus with a lower Bonus % (from opening extra rooms) also comes a lower base XP value. It's not a purely fixed value per floor. Already having 'prestiged' the floor also obviously matters. IP83.101.44.209 (talk) 19:37, December 21, 2014 (UTC)

Fastest large dungeon?[]

http://imgur.com/WplQQcF

Fastest recorded dungeon to my knowledge. Done on Free-to-play, so with surge Pay-to-play should be able to complete a large dungeon in less than 2 minutes easily. It's been theorized that with perfect spawns, and no loss of time, you can achieve around a 1:10 large floor.
