Types of Vampires[]

I was thinking about vampires and came up with this list:

"Real-world" vampires Runescape vampires
Blood-sucking Yes Sometimes
Other attack Overwhelming physical strength Wimpy "cat fight" hands
Daylight Destructive Eh, not a problem
Turns into a bat Yes No

and I came to the unfortunate conclusion that rather than "real" vampires, what we have in Runescape are instead "Twilight"-style bipedal leeches.

Spider Summoned Vampires[]

The level 72 vampires appear to be summoned by the non-attackable spiders in the Haunted Woods. Avoid the spiders to avoid these. Also, the spiders can be used as an obstacle the vampires won't try to go around.

This also seems true for Feral Vampyres. You can see them spawn on top of/from the little spiders when they are close to you.

Garlic[]

Does garlic work on any vampire other than Draynor? Please respond! Ralnon (talk) 20:37, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

No, it only weakens Count Draynor Tokkul detail Inhaps talk 20:55, October 1, 2009 (UTC)

Has this actually be tested? Ralnon (talk) 23:57, October 16, 2009 (UTC)

Certainly nothing interesting happened when I tested it on 20 vampires 30 seconds before this post. Tokkul detail Inhaps talk 21:15, October 17, 2009 (UTC)
Nothing even slightly more interesting happens when using garlic powder... Tokkul detail Inhaps talk 21:21, October 17, 2009 (UTC)

There's no proof that garlic has any effect. I will remove it from the 'weakness' section. Inelcirc 22:46, December 15, 2009 (UTC)

Speculation in 'Characteristics and History' section[]

Quotes:

'It is theorized that with the usefulness of vampire armies so diminished, and the blood expense of maintaining them unchanged, the vampires were driven outs of Drakan's populated areas, and became feral. Vampires started to reside outside the settlements in Morytania, lurking for possible prey.'
'Most of them can be found in Haunted Woods and near the Abandoned Mine, where they will not be bothered by the Ghasts found wandering around in Mort Myre. Since the vampires would be vulnerable to ghast attacks and cannot make ghasts visible/attackable, this avoidance makes logical sense.'

Is this stuff based on anything released in the game or in other Jagex channels? I haven't seen anything from Jagex remotely along these lines. It makes a good story, but unless it is actually based on something it shouldn't be in the article. Inelcirc 23:28, December 15, 2009 (UTC)

Starved Ancient Effiygies[]

I got an effigy from killing a level 61 vampire could someone add it to the drop list.

Weakness? (Besides holy symbol)[]

Range, mage, melee (crush, slash, stab)? And eventhough all weapons can hurt them, adn you don't need silver weapons, will those hurt them more. Or not, any idea? . . . Very easy slayer task[]

I just figured, at combat level 86, this is the easiest slayer task I've gotten from the mid-level slayer masters. Not because they're weak, but because of this-

1. holy symbols can weaken them

2. lighting the torches restores prayer- a little luck and you can keep weak prayers going as long as you need them, without leaving the area,

3. nearby obelisk- with my low summoning level, I had a void spinner constantly healing me for small amounts, and I can restore my summoning points fairly easily
