Does this stack with slayer helm/full slayer helm?

Revision as of 03:09, 28 May 2013

This talk page is for discussing the Ferocious ring page.

Untitled

I've recieved 4 ferocious rings from a Kuradal Assignment today of 168 Blue Dragons, it may depend on the NPC and their drop-tables, but I'd say the 1/200 kills chance is not the case for these creatures in Kuradal's Dungeon. ~Melee Mentor~

Combat stats of ring? if any...

It gives no Bonuses. Just confirmed. Slayer helmet Monstermas22 Slayer cape (t) 04:07, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

"It also increases damage on monsters in Kuradal's dungeon by 4"
Does it add damage or does it increase max damage? So if I normally hit 1-29, will I now hit 1-33 or 5-33? And does it only work inside the dungeon?

You will hit 1-33, and it works only in the dungeon. C.ChiamTalk 13:25, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
You've seen someone hit below five? Because the descriptions given indicate that it does indeed eradicate hitting anything from 1-4. But the descriptions could be misleading. Hopwood 13:56, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
I have one, I've hit 0s while wearing it. C.ChiamTalk 14:00, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
The descriptions have specified that it gives you the 4 damage boost as long as you actually hit, and don't miss (hit 0). So, any 1-4s? Hopwood 14:05, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
I'll have to get back to you on that one. I'm finishing up my hellhound slayer task in Taverley Dungeon. C.ChiamTalk 14:08, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
I've done 500 Abyssal Demons and 250 Dark Beasts, haven't seen a 1-4 yet Cursed Pyres 19:49, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
No 1-4 for me either, also, the 1 per 3 tasks is reversed for me, I've gotten three rigns from a single Gargoyle task Vlastne 20:16, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
I'm averaging 1:1 atm, can we remove this? There's really no justification or evidence to support 1 per 3 Cursed Pyres 21:26, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
I added the information in. http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu33/Psycho_Robot/Sigs%20and%20Avatars/kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar 21:32, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

Minimul damage is changed from 5 to 4. I dont have a ring to try, anyone know if this is correct?

The minimum damage is 5. You either miss (hit 0) so no extra damage, or hit a 1 which is boosted by 4, to 5. Hence if you hit damage, you can't hit less than 5 (as long as the monster has >5 hitpoints remaining). Fixed. Weird gloop @Gaz#7521 17:03, December 28, 2009 (UTC)

Actually Gaz, you are incorrect. The minimum damage with a ferocious ring is 4. This is because there are two type of zero hits: a "hit" zero and a "non-hit" zero. I don't know why or how they occur, but it's established fact (yet still not very common knowledge) that zeros fall into those two categories. So when your character does a "hit" zero, despite the fact that they did 0 damage, the game sees that the character did in fact manage to hit, and so +4 damage is given. So you hit a 4. Next time you use a ferocious ring look closely at your hits and you will eventually notice a 4 (and no I'm not talking about 4s that appear when the monster is almost dead). I'm 95% certain this is true, but I won't change the article yet. Tristan Is God 17:36, December 28, 2009 (UTC)

I've yet to see a 4 where the monster didn't immediately die (i.e. only 4 HP left). Next time I get a task in the dungeon I'll check it out. Weird gloop @Gaz#7521 17:39, December 28, 2009 (UTC)

I've killed about 300 monsters in Kuradal's dungeon, and always hit either 0 or 5 and above Tokkul detail Inhaps talk 18:17, December 28, 2009 (UTC)

Deflection damage Increase

Does the ring increase deflection as well? Does this only work on Kuradal's monsters? Can someone check? Will I ever be able to stop asking questions :D? 72.89.231.22 12:56, December 10, 2009 (UTC)

The examine info for Ferocious ring (3) is "It looks quite worn."

the ring will not increase deflection. it did when the update was new, that was changed with the first system update after the release of the rings took place --Tortilliachp 20:52, December 28, 2009 (UTC)

fast range wep

does it also affect knives/dart? Just think of it, it'll be ownage :)

Yes, seeing as its *any* form of combat Cursed Pyres 23:26, December 13, 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, it'll work, but you have to have a good accuracy for it to keep hitting 5+. Quest point cape detail Brux Talk 22:17, December 16, 2009 (UTC)

I've tried it at hellhound, it was pure chaos, very good xp for range.83.134.234.134 18:04, December 18, 2009 (UTC)

stack with chaos gauntlets?

Does it stack with chaos gauntlets and 10% magic damage bonus from staves? Anyone ever tested it?

It does stack with the gauntlets (I hit 19s with fire bolt, normal max 12), and it stacks with the damage increase due to extra levels (3% per level - when I use magic essence potions (+3) I hit 20s), so I would assume it does stack with the 10% staves, however I've yet to try it out. Maybe next trip I'll bring claws of guthix and test it. Weird gloop @Gaz#7521 17:34, January 12, 2010 (UTC)
I've done an iron dragon task inside kuradal's dungeon with ferocious ring, fire bolt, chaos gauntlets and ancient staff and I've been able to max 20s(maybe more, but I didn't really pay a lot of attention). Quest point cape detail Brux Talk 17:24, January 30, 2010 (UTC)

Hitting 4

It IS possible to hit 4 with this ring, because normally you can "hit" your target and still do 0 damage. Magic proves this, as spells can hit 0, even though when they actually miss they simply splash on the target, and no hit splat is shown. Mortyst 16:49, January 13, 2010 (UTC)

I still have 0 hitsplats when I use magic, they aren't boosted to 4, and I've still yet to see 1-4 with it when the monster doesn't die immediately. Weird gloop @Gaz#7521 19:10, January 13, 2010 (UTC)
What I mean is that spells can still hit 0 when they don't splash, which means that other attacks do 0 damage even when they don't miss as well. I also dug out this qoute from the 38th Postbag, written by Jagex, which should prove I'm right, at least for chickens:
"A rooster has 7 Hitpoints. They have a 0.77% chance of hitting TzTok-Jad, and then only a 50% chance of inflicting a measly 1 Hitpoint in damage."
50% chance to hit 1 damage. Meaning they have 50% chance to inflict 0 damage as well, when not missing. Of course, this could be different to players, I don't know. A not-too-hard way to test this would be to make a character and train it a few attack levels while keeping lv 1 strength, and see if it still hits 0 more than 50% of the time. Then again, Jagex could have fiddled with this when wearing the ring, which again could be proven by extensive testing, maybe by wearing flowers and dumping strength level with sara brews to make it easier. Gl to whoever wants to try that. :P --Mortyst 19:45, January 13, 2010 (UTC)
I understand; I have splashes (misses) and I have non-splash 0s (the spell hits and makes the hit noise, but still does 0 damage) while wearing the ring; its not boosted to 4. Weird gloop @Gaz#7521 21:16, January 13, 2010 (UTC)
Strangely, after the constitution update, magic doesn't seem to hit any 0s when not splashing, so the old 0 hits without splats were actually 0.1-0.9 hits, or it's just a glitch, either way, magic now always hits when not splashing, so the min hit with magic would be 41, when not splashing of course. Ring of wealth?

Can anyone confirm whether or not the ring of wealth affects the drop of the fero ring?

Slayer-icon Trebooor File:Slayer_helmet_(charged).png‎

05:57, January 17, 2010 (UTC)

nothing but a statement from jagex can confirm, as all rare drops drop randomly. Massive statistical samples would be needed to assert either or, we're talking tens of thousands of kills. Tortilliachp 18:48, January 30, 2010 (UTC)

Since the ring of wealth update, whenever the RoW affects a drop, "Your ring of wealth shines more brightly" appears (hidden by filter). This does not happen when a ferocious ring is dropped. So I think we can be confident enough to make the statement that the Ring of Wealth doesn't improve ferocious ring drops.

Bonus drop

Is the ring a bonus drop, similar to the Draconic visage and Clue scroll,or is it the main drop from the monster? Coelacanth0794 00:21, August 30, 2010 (UTC)

It's a bonus drop that you get only in Kuradal's Cave, its not as rare as a visage but probably more rare than clue scroll, probably less rare than elite :P

Hell Hounds

I've editted the table showing hell hound level that drop fero rings. it had 127 on there but only 122s are found withing the dungeon. DiabolusMiles 17:58, July 4, 2012 (UTC)

After Evolution of Combat

Does anyone have any idea as to how the Ferocious Ring works after this Eoc? Does it add only 40, maybe 400, or a different number now, would that mean it should be considered better than an imbued ring such as the Onyx ring (i)? Brad81394 (talk) 09:01, December 9, 2012 (UTC)

I've just tested, same setup, both with and without ferocious ring, recorded max hits - the damage increase of the Ferocious Ring is still 40, unchanged thus far. Maybe this is an overlook of Jagex, so it could change still, I think. Elanthiel (talk) 17:22, December 9, 2012 (UTC)
Well, that makes sense I suppose. Thanks for the insight. Let's hope they up it, because right now I think the 2.7% critical would in the long run make more of a difference than the +40 to each hit would. :) Brad81394 (talk) 19:13, December 9, 2012 (UTC)

  • The damage boost the Ferocious ring provides has been reworked.

According to March 4th Patch notes. Anyone tried one yet? Jerry Fed (talk) 19:03, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

It's a 4% damage boost, added it to the article. Logialian (talk) 06:38, March 28, 2013 (UTC)
