We need a section on pyremaking, but I just don't really understand. I never did it when I was a member either. Maybe someone else can? --Richard1990 18:06, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

I'll work a little on it. Oddlyoko 19:26, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Never mind, I added it. --Richard1990 17:28, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

RS classic[]

I noticed that there's a mention of Classic at the end of the article. I can't find anything on this site saying whether or not we include Classic information with articles, but it seems like bad practice to me, as RuneScape Classic information is different from RuneScape information. Fetttson 21:26, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

The info has been moved to RuneScape Classic. --Richard1990 17:28, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

From an article called How To Train Firemaking[]

Firemaking is a skill that all players can do. It is a skill that can be easily raised if you know how to do it.

Level 1 - 15[]

Players with level 1 firemaking don't have any log they can burn other than normal ones. I would recommend for both free to play and members to start outside Varrock's east gate.

Level 15 - 30[]

Congratulations! You may now chop oak trees. Start burning these in either Lumbridge or stay at Varrock.

Level 30 - 60[]

Now at level 30 you can burn willow logs. Draynor Village has 5 willow outside of its bank. I would recommend starting there to all players but members also could try outside Catherby.

By the time you get to level 45 firemaking if your woodcutting level is not 70 or higher I say avoid maples for the time being as they are dreadfully slow too cut. If you have level 70 or higher then cut them to get some fast experience.

Level 60 - 99[]

By the time you get to level 60 you can burn yews. I would not recommend them unless you have 75 woodcutting or higher as they are also very slow. But if so this is probably the fastest way to get exp. South of the Seers' Village flax field's is a good place to cut, but Edgeville is good too. Rimmington is a very inconvenient place to light fires.I would not recommend lighting fires there.

At level 75 you can burn the final type of log, magic. Now these are not too bad when you have 80 woodcutting. They can be easily cut with a dragon hatchet. So this would be the best choice for level 75+ firemakers. Now the last thing you need is patience because level 99 firemaking is still a long way off.

Buying Logs[]

Some players prefer to buy their logs rather than cut them. This can be fairly expensive but pays off. For example a player could buy 13k willows for 420k. Giving about 600,000 experience, which could jump a level 70 firemaker to level 76.

[[Category:Guides]]

What an absurd title for an article. And it's poorly written etc, and should be in the Firemaking article anyway. I've put this here in case any useful info can be salvaged but I don't have time to look through it now. JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 16:50, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Log Lighting Race[]

should a section be made about this wonderful activity? Aurora sword 07:25, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

i dont think so, i have never seen two people racing, and it is completly based on skill level... nothing else --Corhen
Actually some people do race. Just for the fun of it. I race too actually, it's quite fun and takes my mind off from how many logs i have to burn to get 99. C.ChiamTalk 10:58, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Magic logs training[]

"75-99 Magic. Players should not burn magic logs. Even for wealthy players, the time saved does not economically negate the up-front cost." then why is it put under the reccomended training methods?Aurora sword 06:52, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Actually wealthy players should burn Magic Logs. Even if the time saved is not equal to the money spent, it still is a good way to train your firemaking. They say WEALTHY, so like duh even if it uses up money, it's an excellent way of training for really rich players. C.ChiamTalk 10:58, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Random events[]

"Players will encounter many random events while woodcutting; however, there are no random events that pertain to firemaking."

--I just got Mime while burning willows in falador. Aurora sword http://a.imageshack.us/img191/1589/butterflyj.png 11:52, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

So? You can get the mime at any time. Sysop crown Megalodon99 (Talk) score 12:32, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
...What the article means is that you get woodcutting-specific random events. there are none specific to firemaking. JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 12:35, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Fire Making[]

I think that fire making is there because the higher level you have of Fire Making then the longer the fire will last.I noticed it while i was burning logs in Falador because that the lvl 80s logs lasted longer on fire then mine even though he started before me. Just my idea But i m not sure User:Fofo7848

This is true. Unfortunately, the type of log does not affect the length of the fire. Mages and normals burn the same length at a given level. Woodcutting-iconHyenastetalk 00:03, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Are you totally sure? This comment and the one in the main article on the type of log making no difference to the length of burn seem a bit misleading. I'm pretty sure that, while random, the amount of POTENTIAL time goes up with each log and that on average oak will normally burn longer than tree, for example. So while there's potential for a higher level log to have a shorter burn time than a lower level one it's less likely than the other way round. (if this is the case then Jagex needs to change it. It's stupid for lower level logs to burn the same time as higher ones) SpiroExDeus 14:45, March 1, 2011 (UTC)

Easy to test with enough logs and a stopwatch. If using magic logs and regular logs the difference should be easily noticeable. In my experience back when I was still burning logs, I think I noticed that when using higher level logs that it occurred more often that my old fires were in the way of the new path. It may also be that better logs have lower burn rates, this is the case in Daemonheim, so maybe on the surface as well. My contributionsTHARKON 00:57, March 5, 2011 (UTC)

Firemaking too easy[]

In the intro are only texts that say that fm is much too easy while it isnt. I have 91fm and i think its not as easy to get 99 as the writer says.Unless you want to spent 40m and 50 hours.(which is the fastest way)

Well, it's not saying firemayking is "easy", per say, just that "It's easier to raise then other skills". Tesfan 22:36, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Click tinderbox, click log, pause, repeat. Walking is more difficult than that. Woodcutting-iconHyenastetalk 23:28, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

i was talkin about this -.-. thus making it one of the fastest

From 80 firemaking you can buy willows for 2.4M or maples for 4M (i think). Its not that hard although its alot of logs. --Zeeus 00:52, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

"Many players consider this the second easiest skill to raise (the first being cooking)." - Who says? in terms of the rarity of capes, the most common one is Strength while firemaking does not feature in terms of rarity until tenth. To put that into perspective, hitpoints is 5th (61,397 - all numbers from time of writing), magic is 9th (35,856), and prayer comes in just two places behind at 12th! Furthermore, many players consider construction, slayer, prayer, hunter or smithing to be the easiest skill to train. How about we take out the subjectivity and leave this at: "Many players consider this one of the easier skills to raise" 99.52.185.99 14:33, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

It is easiest if you train them. What difference is training Attack, Strength and Defense? They have exactly the same xp rate but why are there more people with 99 Strength than Attack or Defense? We compare, If someone who is rich buys all his logs for level 99 and someone training with a whip on monsters, who gets 99 faster? Firemaking.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=johVwqWWMv4
However, some may consider magic a LITTLE more useful (along with strength) while firemaking is damn near useless, does add a few levels to my total though, w/o much work 15:28, March 7, 2010 (UTC)
A fast way to firemake is to use backwalk:

Burning logs[]

After the new details where updated, the fires look different. Might want to get a picture of the new fire, (I'd suggest getting an old fire and the new fire like the level up messages below). Thanks.--Zeeus 00:47, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

outfits[]

What wouldbe the best outfit with firemaking cape because i'm lvl 75 firemaking and have 500K willows in bank and so will soon be level 99. I was thinking gilded armor with an inferno adze and the hood that comes with the cape...

The Firemaking article is not to discuss training methods or good outfits to go with the firemaking cape,it is for the skill of firemaking itself. --

Temporary boosts[]

lava titan gives +10 invisible boost to fm, what is an invisible boost with fming? every log burns instantly, is this the most usless thing ever?

or can u actually use it to burn higher level logs?

It is quite useless: it makes your chance of immediately burning the log/your 'burning speed' higher. Ancient talisman Oil4 Talk 10:28, October 4, 2009 (UTC)

Highscores history?[]

I think there's a problem in the Highscore History. It says: "The fastest person to get 99 Firemaking was Mendark in 28 days". Now from what I hear, Firemaking is a pretty fast 99, and if he was going for the fastest, he'd be pulling out all the stops, fastest burning methods, magic logs, no lifing, etc. Does it seem to anyone else that 28 days is a little long? It takes 38920 magic logs to get from 75-99 (the majority of his experience) and with the best methods one can burn about 1485 logs per hour. By my calculations, that means that it would take just over 26 hours. That's less than 1 hour of playing a day. Does that seem like the playing time of someone going for the fastest?

Yeah, I believe that there weren't even oak logs in early runescape classic. Later on they were the best logs in the game. I'm not sure what logs are the best in today's rs classic, but 28 days seems pretty fast burning only oak logs/normal logs =]. Kwekko 17:20, March 10, 2011 (UTC)
In classic the amount of XP you got from burning a log was equal to 10 times your firemaking level, if I remember correctly.Big Bouffant 17:16, August 7, 2011 (UTC)
In current RuneScape Classic there exist normal, oak, willow, maple, yew, and magic logs, though only normal logs can be burnt for fires. The rest can only be used for fletching. The experience gained for lighting a fire is equal to 25+(lvl)*1.75, so it ranges from 26.75xp/log to 198.25xp/log. It would take 72,758 logs to get to level 99 starting from level 1, if you don't do quests which reward Firemaking xp. Also, one does not automatically drop a log when they use it with a tinderbox, nor do they automatically walk off of the fire after they've made it. In Classic, gathered items are dropped on the ground if there is not enough space in the player's inventory. Therefore, It is common practice for someone training firemaking to fill their inventory with a tinderbox, axe, sleeping bag, and 27 of pretty much anything, and then run around chopping down normal trees and immediately lighting the logs as they drop to the ground before continuing to the next tree. Now you know. =D Quest point capeSk8r dan man Quests 09:23, August 10, 2012 (UTC)
