Crucible Max Cash Gold Duplication Glitch
Clan Chat Kicking
  +
A major glitch must meet <u>one or more</u> of the following criteria:
Early today, I was logged onto Excl's clan chat. People started getting randomly kicked off, myself included eventually. No one was kicking, and Excl, who was logged on, tried reseting the clan chat, but this issue continued (I was kicked after he reset it). I don't know if anyone knows anything about this or what they might want to do with it, just thought I might bring it up just in case. -Sept. 6, 2010

*The glitch provided an unfair advantage to those who exploited it before it was patched
"Junior Cadet"
  +
*The glitch impacted the game to the extent that regular play was impossible
Me and some fellow runescapers experienced this glitch today a player named Buzzcap93 had a purple tag that said "Junior Cadet" and when trying to add this person it added another totally different member i have screenshots if anyone wants to see --Angreymob 00:53, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

  +
*The glitch resulted in a game rollback
  +
*The glitch received significant recognition from Jagex staff and/or the player community (ie. multiple newsposts/forum topics)
  +
My edit to an addition of this article meets bullet points 1 and 4. It has been patched, so it complies. Why are you (whoever) reverting it? I can gather more information if it does not meet requirements.

  +
When the Crucible Money Making Glitch referenced earlier, above, was fixed, a glitch with the [bank]]PIN on the money pouch let players quickly enter the Crucible Arena, paying their fee, and exited, went to the bank to refill their money pouch to maximum capacity, and got their fee back. What resulted was two stacks of their fee repaid dropping to the floor, duplicating what they were to normally be paid out only once. This could be repeated repeatedly. Estimates on the amount of gold duplicated vary from 800billion to 7 trillion gold. Prior to being virally leaked, people were known to have multiple scripts repeating the glitch since at least 20 June. It has been patched.
This isn't a glitch. It is another title that you can get from playing the minigame Mobilizing Armies. Sept. 13, 2011

RE: Accidental Account Bans Glitch
Jagex bans people who do any glitch. They have fixed recently the glitch in which you control the ice emote and the dying on the ramp of the blast furnace. However though... have you ever thought of how many innocent players are banned for glitches? high lvls who waste years on their accounts to be banned for a simple glitch. People made fun of the dungeoneering glitch, not knowing how strict jagex is about this. Jagex knows who does glitches so why not just do a "rollback" like in dungeoneering? why ban them if they play fairly and dont use bots? there is a different from a "glitch" and "hacker/bug" glitch is developer error and players should not be banned for that reason. Jagex is wrong by doing this and imagine the poor players who were 100+ how they feel right now? or the skillers or generally all players. sinceerly your friend -stone_uzer3 feel free to join my cc at any time for discussion.

  +
Is this really considered a glitch, which by definition entails a problem/error with the program, while the account bans incident was plainly reported to be a result of "human error". -- 18:41, September 27, 2012 (UTC)
-Moderator questoining, if you ask any moderator about jagex banning players for glitches they will agree with jagex. they are most likely copying a script of some type. all moderators are not players anymore but more like "jagex slaves" obeying jagex with everything. if a moderator interfeers with your cc, or general discussion, they will override the players so it is prefered to move to a different area or kick em from the cc.

  +
:I'd say that's not a glitch, but obviously people's opinion will differ. Mostly, because a human error caused a program to ban massive amounts of people. Feel free to discuss it on Ban like it was discussed on Botwatch, though. 18:45, September 27, 2012 (UTC)

::"high lvls who waste years on their accounts to be banned for a simple glitch". People do glitches like this for fun, they have no intentions of disrupting the game in any way except for thier own personal reasons. I have had many accounts banned for bug abuse and i am still doing itcause i find it more interesting than any other aspect of the game. Bugabuse is also not an easy thing to understand, many of the fundimentals of bugabsue are extremely complicated which is why such a small population of the players do it. So could you 'Fagex' supporters get off our backs for having a little fun?

:::How are we on your backs? 10:46, July 1, 2011 (UTC)

:::

:::That's your opinion, and what you yourself do. Many people do glitches (such as the bolt duplication glitch) to make mass amounts of money in game. Which certainly disrupts the game. Not only that but new player seeing glitches or players abusing glitches Can very easily make the quality of the game go down in there eyes. All of this is just my opinion also.

:::God vivec1 10:51, July 1, 2011 (UTC)

:::

:::The Bolt abuse glich was only a problem because someone leeched it and because so few people know anything about bug abuse these leeching occourances are very rare and uncommon. Also why dose it disrupt the game if there is a flooding of resources? If anything it makes the game better as you dont have to spend so much money on buying things.

Fairy Ring glitch
Today I used the fairy ring to head back to the bank from the desert, as I was heading to the ring located right by the Kalphite dungeon, I accidently clicked on a jackal and attacked it. I then proceeded to transport through the fairy ring and while doing so, I noticed the jackal following me. He followed me all the way into Zanaris. I took a screenshot and plan on uploading to photobucket, as I don't think any admins will allow it to be on this server. As I DK 20:55, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Name Glitch
I remember playing a long while back (before RS2) when someone figured out that by using a modified client, they could add spaces in front of their name. One such hacker decided to name himself " Andrew". No one could talk to him since the client would automatically remove the space in front if you tried. Jadex did quickly fix the bug, they prevented further logins, but couldn't kick the player since the moderator's client also lacked the ability to ban players with the illegal name. They eventually had to restart the server to get the player kicked.

Glitches that have not been fixed by Jagex
When did we decide that we would not allow those in the article? What is the point of that? In an edit summary I saw someone say that "We don't want to encourage people to play with bugs." Who cares, if it's something as minor as the moonwalking glitch, or a glitch with an emote? I don't remember having any "dangerous" glitches like the World 111 Glitch on this page. 10:58, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

:First of all, it's so it doesn't make us look like we're encouraging bug abuse, especially since we follow the Runescape rules here. If we only mention them once they're fixed, people won't get so hyped up about it, and won't try looking for or abusing them. Not only that, it's also because people kept adding glitches here as if they were reporting them to us, instead of Jagex, who people should really report glitches to. We really don't want people to think "A glitch! A glitch! I should tell everyone at the RuneScape Wiki about it!". Instead, we want them to think "A glitch. I should tell Jagex about it, so it will be fixed." You can even look at some of the talk page messages above, where some of them look like they're reporting glitches to us. Not only that, this can also help prevent people cluttering the page with non-notable glitches as well as ones that we don't need to hear about (just look at this section, for example). Sorry if this doesn't sound very clear to you; I'm not good at these kind of things, and this was probably the best way I could put it. -- 17:56, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

::Well said Drummer. Also, with the introduction of RSHD, many, many graphical errors have been creater, that are so minor or pointless, that there is no real need to have them. Personally, I think the page should either be solely about performance glitches or split into Glitch/Performance and Glitch/Graphical. Graphical glitches will always happen, but rarely ever hinder a player's performance in the game. Glitches that hinder performance, in my opinion, derserve to be included and discussed. 18:03, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

:::I was thinking that only performance glitches and abusable glitches should be mentioned (once they're fixed of course, so we don't get anyone in trouble). -- 18:13, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

::::It's not abusing the glitch if it's something as minor as moonwalking! I see people using emote glitches all the time? Are they breaking the rules? 19:32, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

:::::No, because they're got gaining anything from it. Telling minor glitches between friends is OK, but posting about them publicly on the wiki isn't. -- 15:49, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

::::::Why? 04:05, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

:::::Can we put glitches on the glitch page that cannot be abused? (ex.- a costume glitch, where someone's head is turned backwards because of something they're wearing) We wouldn't get in trouble if the glitch was non-abusive. 04:36, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

::::::If you go to "Report a Bug" to Jagex (under known glitches), and other places (i.e. Official Forums) they call some glitches ".. more like features" because there is no way they would put enough code to cover every instance of something so minor as floating across the Ditch... I believe if Jagex can call these "Features" than we can post about them. Also, we cover ALL bugs. Jagex fixes big bugs within hours if they feel it necessary.. The moonwalk glitch has been there since the beginning of RS2. Obviously they don't care and it's "cool". 13:17, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

:::::::Actually, we only cover notable bugs (such as ones that got J-mods involved, abusable bugs (once they're fixed), and ones that hinder the gameplay of alot of people), otherwise this page would just be full of clutter. -- 19:59, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

::::::::So the Dorgeshuun crossbow special attack glitch hinders gameplay? And the Crazy Head glitch as well? Wait, since when were you the one to make the rules on this wiki?

I want to re-open this as it's highly controversial and I think a complete consensus needs to be made. I feel, personally, that this main page should be only performance hindering glitches, or simply glitches that are not graphical. Also, I feel that Glitch/Graphical should be created to post graphical glitches. They are interesting to read about, and since RSHD is still relatively new, there are many of these types. I agree that posting glitches that have not been fixed by Jagex should not be allowed.... for performance glitches. I don't think anybody could possibly be banned for a graphical glitch, as that does not give anybody an unfair advantage, and it's rarely ever the user's fault. 22:00, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

:I agree. I mean, we can list things like moonwalking and invisible bridges, but not something like a recreation of the Edgeville Massacre. 16:17, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Invisibility is not a glitch! All you do is either type a period and bunch of spaces and then type what you want to say or type what you want to say followed by a bunch of spaces and a period. Your words appear to hover above an "invisible" person either to the right or left of you. I fooled some noobs with this one, but I wouldn't call it a glitch. --Sword Dope 19:21, 8 May 2009

I'll try to hunt this page down, to bring a quote or two, but no gaurantees. ==Stealing Creation Glitch==

Hey, I ran into that once, but i managed to get out of it somehow. I clicked to talk with the dwarf in the starting room and teleported to him.

sounds like lag. unless the teleport action was preformed?

Self muting glitch
I've experienced a glitch that u can self mute yourself with, this was done during the early days of quick chat and has since been fixed, should this be added? this glitch worked by having quick chat open and then talking to the were wolf agility boss, then clicking continue, u had to log out to fix this. ==Small glitch==

I've discovered(or I think I have) a small glitch: When holding a weapon(such as D-longsword) and changing for the Circus Agility event, once you're in costume your arm is still in the position for holding the longsword, but there's no weapon in your hand. Also, even if you don't have a weapon, all facial hair dissapears. Figured I should like, mention it or something in case someone wanted to add it.

World 125 Glitch
I think this is a glitch, and its on World 125, a F2P world. If you go to World 125 on World Select, it says its a 'Stealing Creation' world, when Stealing Creation can only be played in Members worlds.SharpstarofFireClan 19:27, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Also, on Stealing Creation, if you use the Give Thanks emote while the game is about to start, and the game starts, you will be left in the lobby.

They no longer allow emotes in the lobby, so this is no longer a problem. However I'm not quite sure about world 125. I'll check that. Megakid39 00:02, December 13, 2009 (UTC)

There is a world 125-128, but its in another runescape server (there is the english one most people know about, portugese, german and Dutch). To play on them go to runescape.com and look for the four little flag icons near the top. There should be a union jack(English server), black orange and yellow(German server), blue white and red(Dutch server) and a green one that has a blue symbol in the middle of it(Portugal server). They usually have next to no one in them, most of their F2P worlds have 100 people, member worlds 50 people, and PvP worlds 25. I regret telling you all this because i go on them to cut yews/magics mine gold/mithril ore etc.

: you have to go to http://bugtracker-v4.runescape.com/index.html > choose category > continue > continue and voila.

: You dont have a direct link because the codebehind generates the list (so giving a direct link would give no result)

Guys,ill expain.

The 'Box' is picked up during the quest "Death to the Dorgeshuun".

Theres a limited zone where you may carry the box, which is only the lumbridge watermill.

Me and friends (Im sure you know who im thinking about)tried smuggling the box by dieing, going outside and logging out...

And everyone says you need to die with pots, thats not how it works(and it NEVER worked like that, you would just end up in a zombie position).

Ok,so to keep the box you needed to do a fake log, which is a glitch where the server thinks your logged out. After, you needed to pickup the box and you could simply leave the area.

If youd logout, you would lose the box :-(

Oh and when you log back in your a zombie XD.

hope you guys know more about it.Ohh,and its not 100% fixed.

"µ" Alt Code Glitch
Earlier this morning, there was a glitch ingame that caused anyone who saw the alt code ALT+0181 to crash.

People were using this to kill other peoples gameplay by typing it, they would avoid being crashed themselves by having their public chats set to Off. One player by the name of Buzzcap93 went on a rampage throughout PVP worlds forcing players to log out, resulting in them losing their item's. It's been fixed, but while active MANY players were crashed, and while they weren't in control their acc died at GWD or PvP or wherever. Now, if you try write that alt code in game, it still will show up as "µ" but will not crash the server.

censor is a glitch??
The section talking about how censor asterisks out some usernames is a glitch?? Simply how is it a glitch and wouldn't it be much better placed under a page on censor?? <span style="color: chocolate ;">Evil Yanks </span> <span style="color: darkgoldenrod;">talk</span> 10:01, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

:It wasn't intended for the censor to block usernames as that makes it difficult for users to communicate with each other. JaGEx admits this is a problem and allows you to submit your name to them to have it put in as an exception to the censor as in many cases the portion of the name is something that makes no sense to have blocked, for example my username shows up as "Bartuc*io3" or "Bartu*cio3" (forgot which) instead of showing up as "Bartuccio3" as it should. I personally find it not worth the space it would take up in the censor script to have my name unblocked since only one letter is missing and it's still easy to see who is being referred to, but in more extreme cases you might have something like: (for sake of argument, this is most likely not real) Vegetarian27 show up as "***et*rian*7." This would actually be worth spending the storage space for. In any case it can still be considered a glitch that the game censors anybody's username.

:While I'm on this topic, does anybody here know if there would be a way for them to automatically reference the database of login information to automatically un-censor usernames? I know they've done this to block your own password from being said, so doesn't this sound like a viable solution? -- 19:43, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Banker Killing
I remember reading on a fansite about how some users used an infamous cheating tool to actually be able to attack bankers. The information available was limited and vague, so I was wondering if anybody here that had first- or second-hand experience could post some elaborate information or if it's already posted in an article not wholly about the glitch, direct me toward it. Some things that I think could be interesting are what the combat level and HP of a banker were, as well as what the typical reaction was of somebody trying to use a bank and finding that all bankers were dead or in-combat. RSC already has enough difficulty using banks due to the bankers only being able to talk to one person at a time and no right-click option for quick-banking, so it could be very humorous if anybody has screen-captures of some player's verbal responses to this. -- 19:49, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

I found out what seems to be a glitch while i was at varrock museum where i could select two items at once, giving them both white outlines. I did this by going to the digsite bit in the museum, taking a chunk of rock; then using it on a workbench and as my character was cleaning the rock sample i would click use on it again, if i did this and it crumble as i was working on it, i would go and get another rock sample and as soon as i put it in my inventory it had a white outline around it as if I had clicked use. Then i could click use on a second item in my inventory and they would both still have the white outline around them.

why do we folo jagex's rules?
it doesnt seem like a good idea to not list unfixed glitches. foloing jagex's rules in general makes it feel like a 5 year olds encyclopedia, rather then a proper wiki. can anybody give a good reason to folo jagex's rules? i dont support going around telling people to do stuff, but not mentioning something THAT IS IMPORTANT, simply because jagex doesnt want us to doesnt seem right.

:All really notable glitches are fixed by Jagex (well stop people from abusing it) so quickly that it doesn't really give much time for people to abuse it, meaning maybe a on hour wait before the info is added. Small graphics glitches are added all the time but nobody ever really bothers deleting them since they can't be abused. In a nutshell: Glitches that can be abused are quickly fixed by jagex, so they are added quickly. :Sounds good. That is the only thing that Jagex calls them, and it is always good to use Jagex terminology. 01:58, January 25, 2010 (UTC)

::Why does it matter what JaGeX calls it? Glitch is standard terminology used by players for faults in the game. Jagex does not call cutscenes "cutscenes" but instead "instanced events", so why don't we use the same terminology? If you want to use the term "bug" from now on instead of "glitch" just because JaGeX uses it then OK, just make sure you rename the "cutscene" article to "instanced events" since we evidently must follow the ways of the almighty JaGeX....--Kkpl0x 05:13, January 25, 2010 (UTC)

:::I agree with Kkpl0x, there are some cases where using the name Jagex provides (in-game names for items) would be better, but this is not one of them. It'd be a lot of work for little or no gain in terms of article quality. It's a glitch, so call it a glitch. 09:31, January 26, 2010 (UTC)

::::Actually, they call cutscenes, cutscenes. "Instanced event" is specifically a cutscene that is "instanced" (meaning generated away from the rest of the players).

Oppose - Glitch seems fine to me. I don't think we need to follow Jagex's standard here since it's not an official name or anything. The reward thing was true, but the thing about Jagex banning the player was made up by the player as a way of getting back at Jagex I think. 02:57, January 27, 2010 (UTC)

You don't have to believe anything I present before you, but here ya go - scroll down till 'the history' + some links below that might be interesting GOOGLE (failed) translation - 18:34, January 27, 2010 (UTC)

:The first one is copied off another page which it doesn't specify. You main, latvian source stole it word for word off your last source. I couldn't find it saying anywhere that Jagex betrayed the thater that told them about it. The only other source that you have would be very biased due to (apparently) being written by someone who was banned by Jagex. That page was quoted off another website (why the quotation marks are there) which it doesn't mention... Finally, if Jagex did stab a player in the back, then why would they have made a news post about it, highlighting the fact?? There is only one very (very) dodgy source supporting what you said happened, so I think it would be a bit premature to start full-out accusing Jagex of entrapment. 05:29, January 28, 2010 (UTC)

:What they probably did was give the account lifetime membership, then ban it 10 seconds after, that would be a way jagex could get around it if that person was telling the truth. DMalfoy 11:47, June 8, 2010 (UTC)

Protected Glitch
I protected glitch from being edited by ip and brand new users. It seems easiest to explain it through the advantages/ disadvantages of leaving the page unprotected:

Disadvantages
*New users can fix spelling

*Might upload a png version of a glitch image

Advantages
*High traffic page, being the 89th most visited page

*No other fansites would have a page like this, so this should be where we excel

*Of the 50 most recent edits to the page:

**11 are vandalism

**10 are adding glitches that should have been added to a subpage

**23 are cleaning up other users contributions to the page

**6 are constructive edits

*A large majority of the vandalism was by ips, adding glitches by day old accounts, cleaning up and constructive evits by a mix of new and old accounts.

*By protecting, it encourages accounts to place the glitches where glitches are meant to be placed.

Support - When an article is protected, I assume its talk page is not. If this is the case, I don't see why the IP/new users can't post the glitch on the talk page. Wiki has many users; I'm sure there would be people that would go over the article and correct spelling/grammar. In addition, I agree that older players would have to experience to not vandalize, add the glitches in the correct categories, etc. If this is where we excel, why not excel even more? Other fansites don't have this problem because only authorized people have permission to edit the page, this is our weak point. One could argue that this is our strong point, as a diverse enviroment of people are allowed to add information; however, the facts are against us- 42% (Vandalism and misplaced additions) of the 50 most recent edits are rather negative, 46% (Cleaning) are positive overall, but would be done by anyone speaking English; and the remaining 12% (Constructive edits) are positive. While we were doing it there was this big system update that logged evryone out when i logged back in my runecrafting was lv 5 again! Then i did dungennering again and i could only get my runecrafting up to 7 or 8! I guess this means some dumb person told Jagex and fixed it! Stupid!!! 86.96.228.84

:Yes, there was such a glitch, but Jagex did a 30 minute rollback to the point where this glitch first showed itself, because getting 100 xp per rune isn't very fair to those who trained it properly, now is it? 21:22, May 2, 2010 (UTC)

::It was worse even than that. Previously, players could enter a dungeon, sell everything there, buy rune essence, craft runes for 2kish exp in a minute, then leave the dungeon, and repeat. So, Jagex meant to divide the exp by 5. Take fire runes - previously 7xp per 10 ess, meant to go down to 1.4 per 10. Instead, this ended up as 14000 per 10, meaning the 1k or so ess you could buy upon entering the dungeon would give 2.8M exp. Because that's totally fair.

They didn't even make an update; just pulled the plug on the servers, cutting everyone off, and made a rollback to the precise moment the glitch was added. Took 2 hours to rollback and update... 21:50, May 2, 2010 (UTC)

Dungeoneering - Monster Limit Glitch
This happens when a dungeon has reached its limit in monsters. After it's reached monsters are invincible (they're there but you can't see them). They start attacking you but you can't attack them back even with Auto-Retaliate on. It generally happens in large rushes where you only kill the required amount of monsters, leaving the ones you don't have to kill behind.

This is a major problem for Guardian Doors as you can't kill the required monsters to move on. Also, in boss rooms, the boss doesn't appear.

This can be solved by killing other monsters in the dungeon to balance out the limit, or by logging out and then back in.

Loyalty Shop Glitch
Sometime between 2nd Nov 2011 and 10th Nov 2011, a glitch occured whereby you could buy anything from the Loyalty Shop without losing Loyalty Points (To a certain extent).

<u>How It Worked -</u> A player was able to access any loyalty shop on any members world just like normal but when it came to buying something, an error occured. The player could buy something in the Loyalty shop within his or her points range but when the player clicked 'Buy', an error message showed up informing him or her that the purchase couldnt be completed. After the player dismissed this message, the purchase that they tried to make will become 'Redeemable', and the player will be able to redeem the item that they tried to purchase free of charge. The players Loyalty points never reduced. There was only one catch. Players couldnt 'buy' anything unless they had the required amount of points.

<u>Example -</u> Player A has 4000 Loyalty Points. He/She decides to buy the 'Storm' emote. It costs 4000 Loyalty points. When he/she pressed buy, it came up with an error message but the 'buy' buttom became 'redeem' and he/she could then redeem the 'purchase' free of charge and he/she would still remain with 4000 Loyalty Points. The player could then go on and 'Buy' everything else in the shop that was 4000 points of lower.

This only worked to a certain extent though. A player must have had the required points to make the purchase in the first place. If a player only had 3500 points and tried to buy the storm emote, it would say that the player did not have enough points to make this purchase. On the other hand, the player would still be able to buy anything that was 3500 points of lower and still retain 3500 points.

<u>THIS IS NOW FIXED!</u>

Crucible Max Cash Gold Duplication Glitch

A major glitch must meet one or more of the following criteria:

 • The glitch provided an unfair advantage to those who exploited it before it was patched
 • The glitch impacted the game to the extent that regular play was impossible
 • The glitch resulted in a game rollback
 • The glitch received significant recognition from Jagex staff and/or the player community (ie. multiple newsposts/forum topics)

My edit to an addition of this article meets bullet points 1 and 4. It has been patched, so it complies. Why are you (whoever) reverting it? I can gather more information if it does not meet requirements.

72.161.253.117 06:11, August 7, 2012 (UTC)

RTE failures, we generally don't like YouTube links, and when you were adding it earlier today, it was an unpatched glitch (which are strictly not allowed in articles). If the glitch has been patched, it can be added back. --Andorin (Talk) (Contribs) 06:35, August 7, 2012 (UTC)

RE: Accidental Account Bans Glitch

Is this really considered a glitch, which by definition entails a problem/error with the program, while the account bans incident was plainly reported to be a result of "human error". --User:Limxzero/Signature 18:41, September 27, 2012 (UTC)

I'd say that's not a glitch, but obviously people's opinion will differ. Mostly, because a human error caused a program to ban massive amounts of people. Feel free to discuss it on Ban like it was discussed on Botwatch, though.  a proofreader ▸  18:45, September 27, 2012 (UTC)
