prayer points per dose? (before points 10x update) - confusing[]
I would very much like to know at what levels this gives what additional prayer per dose. First, let me note that I don't believe that it can give 3 prayer points, for either prayer or super restore potions. I have level 58 prayer, and I get 21 prayer points per dose of prayer potion, and one extra with a holy wrench. I get 22 points from super restore, and still one extra with the wrench.

I only get 1 extra prayer bonus at 70, from 24 prayer per dose to 25 prayer per dose. (Prayer potion)

I have 53 prayer, and I have gotten 1 extra for prayer potions when using the holy wrench as far back as I can remember. I don't use super restore potions, so I don't have any data on those. Megaman 993 02:19, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

At 71 prayer I get 2 extra points. Looking at Gerbeezooe's comment it seems that the threshold between 1 and 2 extra points is 71, though Varthlokkur's comment contradicts that.. --Oniplayer 23:41, January 16, 2011 (UTC)
Found something very odd just now. After my previous observation I attained level 80 prayer. Previously, at 71 prayer, I would recover 24 points with a pray pot and 26 while using a holy wrench. Now, at 80 prayer, I get 27 for a pray pot but only 28 along with a wrench. This means I observed more benefit at 71 than above or below it (cannot vouch between 71 and 80, I trained straight through). Amount of Pray Pots Needed Before a Wrench is Beneficial[]
For obvious reasons, a prayer potion is a more effective use of an inventory space over a wrench when dealing with a small number of prayer potions. I just calculated at which point a wrench becomes more effective, in terms of 4 dose prayer potions.
At level 10 (Levels 1-9 are fully restored by one dose of prayer potion, so there is no potential benefit from a wrench)
9 prayer points are restored by one dose of prayer potion (36 points/potion)
10 prayer points are restored by 1 dose of potion with a wrench (40 points/potion)
This makes a difference of 4 points per potion. As 4 goes into 36 nine times, you would need to bring and consume 9 potions (i.e. 36 doses) for the wrench to be as effective as a 10th potion. Everything after that is pretty much free prayer points, more than what you could have brought with another pray pot.
At level 70 (As the extra points goes from 1 to 2 somewhere unknown between 70 and 82 as evidenced by the above talk, this level has value)
24 prayer points are restored by one dose of prayer potion (96 points/potion)
25 prayer points are restored by 1 dose of potion with a wrench (100 points/potion)
Again, a difference of 4 points per potion. 4 goes into 96 twenty-four times, so 24 (i.e. 96 doses) potions would need to be brought and consumed before the wrench is as effective as a 25th prayer potion. Once more, everything after is prayer points that you could not have brought with the same space.
At level 99 (Definitely restores 2 bonus prayer points, possibly 3. For the sake of reliability, 2 bonus points are used)
31 prayer points are restored by one dose of prayer potion (124 point/potion)
33 prayer points are restored by one dose of prayer potion with a wrench (132 points/potion)
A difference of 8 points per potion. 8 goes into 124 fifteen and one half times, so 15.5 prayer potions (i.e. 62 doses) would need to be brought before the wrench is as effective as an additional potion.
While calculating these values, I found an easy way to find how many potions any level would need.
1. Find how many prayer points are restored by a 4-dose potion (points restored by 1 dose x 4)
2. Find how many bonus points you get from a wrench. (70 and below is definitely 1 bonus point. As there is no known formula as far as I know, you may need to figure this out yourself)
3. Multiply the bonus points by 4 and remember that value. (The wrench takes effect for each dose, so it will work 4 times in a single 4-dose potion)
4. Now, divide the amount of prayer points restored by a single potion (step 1) by the amount of bonus points you get per potion (step 3).
--i.e. (Points restored by potion with no wrench) / (bonus points per potion with a wrench) = 4-dose prayer potions needed
--alternatively: (Points restored per dose with no wrench) / (bonus point per dose with wrench) = 4-dose prayer potions needed
5. The resulting number is how many prayer potions you would need to use before the wrench is equal to a prayer potion
Conclusion
A wrench only really comes into consideration if inventory space is no issue and/or if many prayer potions are needed (e.g. while "chinning"). If inventory space is an issue (such as against Aberrant Spectres), the wrench could take up space that could be cleared when a prayer potion is used and the vial is dropped to pick up valuable drops. The wrench is optional to use, but easily left in the bank for slayer at high levels. This is because even without a cannon, a moderately-high leveled player (75-80+ stats, 70 prayer) with a +15 prayer bonus (easily attained through use of a proselyte top and bottom with an amulet of glory) can finish the task within 5-15 potions, depending on whether or not and how they pot up and how many monsters are assigned. Players who cannot kill the monsters as fast will need to use more prayer potions, so lower levels may wish to consider bringing the wrench (especially at lower prayer, as less potions are needed to benefit. This also applies to players who can get 2 or more bonus points per potion, as that effectively halves the number of prayer potions needed to benefit).
So yeah, I just spent 30 minutes to an hour finding, summarizing, and typing all this (probably trivial) information. Use it however you want, I guess. --Oniplayer 17:47, July 24, 2010 (UTC)
New aspect for test[]
I would like to suggest that the holy wrench provides some extent of invisible prayer drain boost i.e Prayers drain slower with the holy wrench in your inventory. We will need other users to cite this, or even better to test this, and to record if the drain rate is constant over all levels of prayer etc.

Tested just once with Deflect Melee at 74 Prayer while naked (i.e. with no equipped prayer bonus). With the wrench, my prayer took 3 minutes 47.6 seconds to drain completely. Without the wrench, it took 3 minutes 48.7 seconds to drain completely. I know this is only one test, but looking at how my prayer drained slower without the wrench, it doesn't look like the wrench actually helps at all. 220.255.2.103 18:35, September 15, 2012 (UTC)
Holy Wrench boost calculation[]
Thanks to the recent prayer update which multiplied all prayer points, restores, and drains by 10, I think it would be a great opportunity for us to now find the equation for how much the holy wrench boosts prayer restore from potions.

Funny, this is under the category free retrieve, but when I did the quest he said it would cost me 15k to get it back. No I'm not going to test it myself, but bear this in mind.

The wiki page only mentions potions. What about flasks? Does the wrench have the same effect on pray/super restore flasks?
