Bad picture[]

Hi there, The picture of the mods in the clan chat has lots of player names who may not want to be seen, shouldn't they be smudged out? the style guide states "Do not include specific usernames of players or groups of players in articles"

Thanks, Hazz (83.105.33.157 19:05, September 8, 2009 (UTC))

Is it true that Jagex mods can make themselves appear as an ordinary level 3 player?

 1. REDIRECT User:C Teng/sig 13:49, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
They can't remove their crowns or change their names on their Jagex mod accounts, no. Skill 16:52, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
But I suppose they can just create a new lvl 3 account... I don't really see the point of this, though. Second-abyssal-whipPatheticcockroachGuthan's platebody(Talk) 16:59, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Well, I've heard that they can turn themselves into a noob and back, not switch accounts. And, accually, they do have separate accounts for pleasure.
 1. REDIRECT User:C Teng/sig 23:16, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Yes jmods can turn themselves into lvl 3's, but they get testy if you ask them too =P. Warrush 01:51, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
I've heard that they can not only change their stats at will on their Jmod accounts, but they can even be level 1!

they can change to level 1. even to 0 or -3457834

List of mods[]

Should this article include a list of usernames of known mods? I know of Paul, Andrew, and Mod Craddock off-hand. The style guide says: "Do not include specific usernames of players or groups of players in articles", but I know of exceptions elsewhere, and wondered this would be appropriate here. It might be a bit too trivia-y, as the article already tells users how to recognise Jagex mods via the gold crown. Mod Element[]

"…one known player, Mod Element, created such an account before the restriction… It is not known whether this player was banned or renamed." I searched "Mod Element" on Google, but this page was the only one that came up about it. Where is the source for this? User:C Teng/sig 19:35, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

The account was renamed, I own it. It is Lestat now.

Mod xxx[]

The fact that all exept paul and andrew start with the "mod" is false, I seen one, who was level 120's, looking like a regular player (without item) and had gold crown, I think it's an old player who became moderator and keep his account, I'll screen it if I see again...

Yes, there are a few testing ones that I have seen screenshots of like matt1337, also Ian is a jmod http://forum.runescape.com/forums.ws?15,16,148,58584629,goto,2

Mod colour on forums[]

Quality Assurance/Game Tester mods don't have gold backgrounds on the forums, they have purple. I saw it here on a thread for a party that i went to where a J mod who was well known on the forums who was becoming a Games tester it is here. I don't know what to do with it. User talk Evil Yanks Contribs 22:29, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

They actually still have gold. Jagex mods can post HTML and JavaScript on the forums, JavaScript was used to change the colors of the post. Quest map icon Laser Dragon Task map icon 05:40, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
<div id="dummyDeepPurple"></div><script type="text/javascript">var node = document.getElementById("dummyDeepPurple"); node.parentNode.parentNode.style.background = "#24023F"; node.parentNode.parentNode.style.borderColor = "#5A0794"; node.parentNode.parentNode.parentNode.parentNode.parentNode.style.borderColor = "#9A24FF"; var leftPanel = node.parentNode.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName("TD")[0]; leftPanel.style.background = "#3A0562"; leftPanel.style.borderColor = "#5A0794"; var leftPChildren = leftPanel.getElementsByTagName("DIV"); leftPChildren[0].style.background = "#3A0562"; leftPChildren[1].style.background = "#3A0562"; leftPChildren[2].style.background = "#3A0562"; leftPChildren[2].style.borderColor = "#5A0794"; leftPChildren[3].style.background = "#3A0562";</script>

# of Jmods[]

Quote from article: "Despite Jagex's growth, not many exist, so it is rare to see them in-game. " Quote from Mod Mmg on RuneScape Forums QFC: 13-14-613-58401007 : "Q) Mvt Tank - I think there are many people who work on Jagex, might be fun^^, but how many people totally work there, and are they all J-Mods in-game? A) We have in the region of 400 staff, all Jagex staff members have JMod accounts - we aim to get a lot of them into game at the same time :) "

Since I don't know a darn thing about making a proper editing which requires citing. I'll let somebody else fix and cite it. You can have the credit too.--64supernoob 04:51, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Removal of some of their 'powers'[]

There was a section saying that they could choose to be visible ingame or invisible. Why was that removed? I've seen it with my own two eyes, or is that not evidence enough in itself?Mining cape (t) JaydenB Rune pickaxe 01:36, November 6, 2009 (UTC)

Ian?[]

Look at the RuneScape Hiscores. Ian is Number 6. Is it the J-Mod Ian or is it a person with Ian as a Display Name? If it is gone, I have an image for proof, but it should still be there on the Hiscores. Take a look. LandofFlames 23:17, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Wait, never mind. It is a name trick. It is lan, with l = Lowercase "L". Sorry about that. Display names always confuse me. LandofFlames 23:20, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Forum avatars of mods, why?[]

What is the point of the pictures of their forum avatars? They can change it probably more often than we can, and most of them are just as normal as any players. It really seems...well, tbh, like a stupid thing to have a section on. If we can't come up with a good reason to have them I'll erase that section in a day or two.--Degenret01 05:04, April 17, 2010 (UTC)

I agree with you. Unicorn horn dust Evil Yanks talk 05:15, April 17, 2010 (UTC)
I don't really think that you have the power to just decide to delete part of it if YOU don't think there is a reason for it. I actually found it helpful. -White partyhat Chasingu
Please explain how you found it helpful.--Degenret01 05:43, April 17, 2010 (UTC)
I got to see what they looked like in Game and their forum avatars. Its really not hurting anyone by having that. It is actually more helpful. -White partyhat Chasingu
I think it makes the article look childish and unprofessional. It doesn't add anything useful. Seeing what they look like is not helpful to you no matter how may times you say it, list a reason for me to consider.--Degenret01 06:00, April 17, 2010 (UTC)
Also I might just add that anyone has the power to make a discision to remove things like that. as long as the reason is just in your mind and you (hopefully) explained why you did it in the edit summary, you can't be at fault as you are trying to help the wiki. Picture of "teleport command"[]

Proof please? I strongly doubt that picture is legit, and unless there's some proof, it shouldn't exist here. The wiki isn't the place to collect fake images... Hofmic Talk 01:47, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for accusing me of faking an image that I uploaded to the Wiki back in 2007 just because you don't believe that Jagex Mods can use such a command to teleport. Honestly, I was there when the Jagex mod (Mod Al, to be precise) used that command after he showed up at the flax fields to look for bots, and I saw the mod disappear right after the command appeared in the chat window, so I know for a fact that it's a real command and thus a real picture since I was there when it happened. In fact, the ability for Jagex mods to teleport was proven at RuneFest according to the article since it states that "Jagex Moderators have the ability to add or remove items in their inventory, modify their skills (and thus their combat level)[6], and teleport to any location in Gielinor by typing with coordinates or double-clicking on a spot at the worldmap (Proven at RuneFest).", so I don't understand why you feel that the image can't possibly be real (or "legit", as you put it) when the article itself states that Jagex mods can teleport by typing in coordinates or double-clicking on the minimap. Hopefully next time you'll at least read the article before jumping to conclusions and accusing random people of faking images without any proof whatsoever. Thanks.

Jmod "Tiers"[]

https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/5rf3hj/suggestion_make_jmod_status_a_requirement_for/dd6wy5i/?context=3

There's also level 3 Jmods, which is exclusive to very few people, like Andrew Gower's Jmod account. People who have it now, often actually keep their Jmod at level 2, but promote it to level 3 only when required to do something. Our test accounts are level 3 - so that we can use the more powerful in game commands for testing etc, like npcadd godwars_bandos_avatar, for example to spawn a General Graardor, if Jmods could all use this in the live game, bad accidents could happen! So we're all level 2, it just gives us extra protection with that sort of thing.

https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/6q12jc/are_these_jmod_accounts/dku11pu/

Apparently they can also be toggled into becoming "normal" players, placing them in the hiscores as well. --Jlun2 (talk) 19:51, July 28, 2017 (UTC)
