What about drawing a mugger into the varrock rune shop, killing the autoers? Is that bad? Mathwhiz90601 21:49, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
- I could never get that to work. I also tried bringing a highwayman into betty's. --Wowbagger421 21:53, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Would this be considered luring?...A noob is begging and decides to follow you..you go to the wizards circle and he dies?-- Atlandy 23:28, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yes. :(

I have 12 friends. 23:42, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
No, i don't think it would. if you not enticing him to follow you, then it is not your falut if he walks into an area and he dies. Tesfan 23:47, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
In no way to I enitce..i usually give away free stuff on non members servers. (steel longs etc) Unfort, with my level (90), people think i have tons of money to give away. As a result, they follow begging..so i go to Lumby to Varrock by way of the circle. I never trade, or pretend to trade with the beggars-- Atlandy 00:00, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Right. If you said "come with me to find a rune scmmi respawn", then that would be luring, but i am pretty sure what your doing is not. Tesfan 00:01, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Should Wilderness Luring be against the rules?[]
My friend thinks wilderness luring shouldn't be against the rules because you weren't forced to follow them into the Wilderness, I keep trying to tell him that it's the deceit factor that makes it bad but he is stubborn and won't believe me :P What do you guys think about it? - I don't think so :)
No longer an offence?[]
The new Rules of RuneScape (sorted into Respect/Honour/Security) do not list luring anywhere. Does this mean it's no longer a reportable offence, or does it count as scamming? --Andorin (Talk) (Contribs) 06:25, July 2, 2011 (UTC)
According to Jagex's most recent wilderness Q&A, luring IS legal according to Mod Fetzki. I have also heard of a Youtube video in which a J-Mod tells a lured victim that what the lurer did was legal and he needs to get fresh air or something. Lastly, I have heard rumours of Mod Mark himself saying that luring is legal. 67.121.234.188 05:30, September 26, 2011 (UTC)
Luring into the Wilderness has been Legal to do in Runescape ever since the Wilderness Wall and In-Game Warning Message Updates were applied.
Although non-wilderness luring is frown upon by Jagex and it could result in an offense/warning if abused.

RSW's Ability to Answer Questions Re: is Luring a Bannable Offence[]
To mass answer all the questions about luring and it being against the rules; RS:CRYSTAL. The runescape wiki does not, nor can it ever, predict the future as to how Jagex will act Re: luring as an offence. Secondly; RSW editors are not Jagex staff. While I've no doubt some Jagex staff do edit the wiki in their free time, it is not maintained by Jagex, nor do editors of the wiki get any extra privileges in terms of information nor how Jagex punish people reported for offences.

Should RSW even list these methods?[]
I appreciate that it's a large part of the game, and as I've pointed out myself above, we can't know if Jagex consider it rule breaking or not, unless they have/do confirm their stance on it as a practise (but I bet there's mixed feelings in the office about it). I know that RSW is supposed to article all notable objects or mechanics or (in some rare cases) players (Durial123 being an example of that one).
But this is my point; should the RSW (potentially) provide information to players which could be used in a spirit which would go against the standards and ideals of the wiki itself? Specifically RS:DBAD.
I also appreciate that we can't delete pages JUST because a user feels that it isn't appropriate for it to exist, which is why I've made this discussion, instead of just slapping a deletion tag on it ;)
Sooooo hopefully we can reach a RS:CONSENSUS about if we should keep or delete this page? Or possibly merge it into another page? I'm open to suggestions; but personally I don't think we should be sharing information that leads to shady-practise (Jagex-rule-wise)
PS. I'm not trying to RS:GAME by pointing out that luring is a dick move, simply making the point that it's a dick move, and, again, imo not something the wiki should (potentially) encourage/help players do.
PPS. after writing this, i was informed that RSW has, historically, removed it's links with wikis which detailed lures and scams, due to the fact that they were mostly used by scammers, as opposed to the intended aim of informing players how to stay safe; in light of that, this page feels, to me, even less like it should be on RSW
PPPS. It's been pointed out that DBAD shouldn't be a consideration when reaching a consensus, cus RSW isn't here to police in-game actions. I do still stand by the fact that we shouldn't be advising players how to do something that is a grey area rule-wise, however.
