Method is Outdated

Sadly, the text in the file is outdated as Jagex added a server flooding protection on it. It track the number of hops per 5 minutes. Going anywhere over one hop 20 seconds means you will most likely trigger it. This means the maximum rate you'd be able to get them is 180 per hour, cutting the rate down to 1,7m gp/hour.

I'd like to affirm that the above is true. I was locked out for jumping too many times. Thus this method is pretty much useless since it now must compete with some F2P methods that are close to 1.7m/hr.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 16:21, June 24, 2015 (UTC).

It's true: this method is outdated. I added a warning to the page but someone removed it.

I actually got back to runescape after a few years of not playing, and checked the money-making guides. I decided to level up my herblore to 82 (from 30!) so I could use this method. When I start doing it I realize it is not what it seems... beware! 01:29, August 19, 2015 (UTC)

While the method is less than used to be, you could definitely  get more than 72 per hour 04:40, July 27, 2017 (UTC)

tips to increase profit & xp

I would suggest someone add that it is recommended that the player make their potions at the bank in Burthorp in world 2 where everyone trains since there is usually a portable well up. Using a well to mix the unfinished and finished potions increases xp by 10% per potion as well as increases the total number of potions made by 10.25%. A player will need to budget for 5% more berries but will end up with 10% more potions which will increase profit. Additionally, it should be recommended that the player purchase their own wells if none are available for free since even though their profit will not be as large as with a free well it will still be more than not using a well in addition to gaining extra xp.

Players should also check prices of the 4 dose potions since they sell relatively as often as the 3 dose but may be slightly more profitable. Players can decant their entire stack of noted potions from 3 dose to 4 dose by interacting with Bob Barter on the northwest side of the GE.

Currently the profit of this method is about 2.3m/hr, using portable wells and decanting should increase profit to >=2.5m/hr. 04:04, July 27, 2017 (UTC)

home tele is just as fast/faster and requires less input

Using the ring of dueling is more costly, requires more user input and is no faster (and likely slower) than home tele to yanille.

Ring of dueling requires the user to right click then left click then press 2 or another left click. Home tele requires the user to press y (assuming they have tele'd there previously).

Home tele has a moderate cast time but places the user withing 1 click of the entrance. Ring of dueling has a short cast time but places the user more than twice as far away from the entrance as home tele.

Home tele is free, ring of dueling is not.

Ring of dueling will require restocking. Home tele does not.

I tested home tele vs RoD twice and found that when including the time required to navigate menus associated with RoD the home tele method's simplicity gave it a 25-50% lead over RoD.

I was unable to hotbar RoD's teleport. If someone has a work around for this then it may be more competitive but will still be more costly. 04:15, July 27, 2017 (UTC)

light source, nightshade per hour, bank tele

Players should be recommended to have a wearable light source e.g. seers headband 1 so as to have 1 more inventory space.

Also the page states that 240-360 nightshade on an average populated world is reasonable. I've farmed like 25k (based upon the coconut shells i keep in my bank) over the past few months and the world populations are usually a bit above 1k and usually that's only like world 2 and world 64 with everything else being lower than 1k. At a world pop of about 1k you can expect about 240-250 per hour. The text should be changed to something more near "240-250 per hour on highly populated worlds" the 360 is completely unrealistic and players should be urged to use the worlds with the highest population so the text about average population world should also be removed.

Realistic round trip times are 6-7min. Players should expect no more than 240 nightshade on average per hour unless populations are well above 1300 and noone encroaches on their spawn during that hour (autoclickers are the worst).

Someone also might want to recommend the wilderness sword 1 for bank tele since it is free, hotkey-able, and can be worn in the weapon slot which is good for people intent on using the ring of dueling for the cave tele. The sword is easy to get, never runs out of charges, and places players within 1 click of a bank. 04:36, July 27, 2017 (UTC)

further regarding teleports

So i read the current guide more thoroughly and i see that it recommends 1 tele to castlewars to bank then run back where as I assumed a 2 tele (1 to bank 1 to cave) in my above discussions.

I would like to recommend that players be recommended to use the 2 tele method for the following reasons:

  1. 2 tele method is faster than RoD by approx 25%
  2. 2 tele method can cost less than rings of dueling (0 in the case of wilderness sword and home tele)
  3. RoD cannot be preset unless you have a stock with the same charge (further increasing initial cost)
  4. RoD requires multiple clicks to use vs 2 tele method which requires only 1 button press each tele.
  5. 2 tele method requires no multiclick runs, both teles place the player within 1 click of the target destination. 05:03, July 27, 2017 (UTC)
