The sliding puzzle has been updated I believe, or atl east it doesn't look the same as the one I'm currently working on. I may update it if I can finish it, but that sort of hard when I don't have something to compare it to. =\

Wish me luck. Gnome gogglesDumblahdoretalk 04:43, June 4, 2010 (UTC)

I completed the puzzle, but I'm afraid I didn't get a chance to get a shot of the completed puzzle. The image however was different, it was basicly the same image of the gnome glider, but some of the colors were different. If anyone gets the chance to update, it would be appreciated if you did so. Gnome gogglesDumblahdoretalk 05:22, June 4, 2010 (UTC)

The quest isn't really that hard with protection prayers. I did not die once during MM, and I finished the fight at lvl 33 range (I focus on meele and mage, but mage is hardly effective against the demon). It took me just 4 prayer pots and a few sharks and tuna.

i'm level 93,i used protection and have died 8 times

This was almost word-for-word from RuneHQ. Rewritten, and my version calls for 600% more steps. =) Woodcutting-icon HYEN-ASTE 10:07, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Heh, taking into consideration that I did the quest at both level 17 and 15, you could indeed say, or it least at my part, that the fight was pretty much the easiest part(I died the most times during the fight though, but that was because of the high K0-rate. ArnoudX 22:47, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
A really important factor (at least for me) in beating the Jungle Demon was flash praying, using a heck of a lot of prayer potions, and a mith crossbow with emerald enchanted bolts :). The Varrock teleports were really handy too.

ye the fight is easy with protect from mage on Ippy97 11:25, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

It's not possible to get additional badges by dropping them, he just tells you he has no extra and you must return to the bottom of the cave to get another from the guy by the gnome wizard. I'm removing the suggestion to stock up on them. Law rune Nubricon Law rune(see comment below)

This quest wasn't that hard for me. I suggest that the difficulty be pushed down to 4 stars. There are some quests that are much harder, and have less stars. 14:39, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

With regards to the part of the quest where you drop down through the crate and it says "you will take damage unless your agility is 54 or higher". I just did it with agility 48 without taking a wink of damage, so it would appear that bit is incorrect. The Alphy 18:25, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Actually , You can stock up on the sigils . you must drop the ones you get from the wizard in the tunnel and not from the general to stock up on them. i suggest noobricon's edit be reverted

I'd like to see some speculations on the page about Monkey Madness 2, what with that strange skull in those tunnels under the temple and all. Gondor2222 21:59, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Level 17 & 15 completion

After reviewing the "proof" I received, I felt it was adequate enough, and keeping this information in the article shows users that is indeed possible, however impossible it sounds. I personally believe the information should stay. Karlis (talk) (contribs)

Agility Requirement

With regards to the part of the quest where you drop down through the crate and it says "you will take damage unless your agility is 54 or higher". I just did it with agility 48 without taking a wink of damage, so it would appear that bit is incorrect. The Alphy 18:25, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

You are completely right. I didn't know this was in the guide, and if it still is, I'll immediately delete it. Surely it is true that the better your agility, the better your chances of falling right, but I believe weight is also factored. I have never taken damage on any of the 12 accounts that had agility 35 when I did the quest. However, on 2 out of the 4 that had agility 50+, I DID take damage. Weight proves to be a factor to be taken, and the luck of the draw. ArnoudX 00:06, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

I did it with level 53 agility, and was hit for 15 when i dropped down into the crate cave area. Swordfishguy 23:31, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

I did it with 31 agility and did not take any damage.

Sounds too hard

This quest guide makes it look like monkey madness is a lot harder than it looks. With 46 prayer (48 from monastery altar) i defeated the demon with 7 prayer points left. Using less than 30 adamant bolts (unable to give an exact since i used accumulator) with addy crossbow at 60 range with full red d'hide. And i didn't even eat a single piece of food until i got teleported out and got hit 14+ and poison. I spent a lot more money than i needed to finish this quest because of how it made it sound very hard. I even saw a person who finished it and said they got broke because of the money spent to buy supplies for this quest. If anyone else agrees with me maybe we can arrange a agreement to remove or at least make this quest sound less hard than it is. BTW, i have 80 combat but most came from melee so it should be possible to finish at 65-70 combat.--Moneypony 06:47, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

I killed the demon with 70 range, magic bow, 14 adamant arrows, prot from mage on, and i only used 20 pray points he didn't even hit a 0 on me.

Also, I found the section on xp rewards from Daero after the quest unclear, which lead me to train the defence on my zerker pure from 45 to 48 :S So i edited it, i hope it's better. :)

Yeah, agreed. It does sound waaaay too hard. I'm midquest right now, and I easily got through the Zoonock underground cave with 43 prayer, no boosts, without running out, and didn't take an ounce of damage. Plus, I've been doing the quest for about 1 and 1/2 hours, and am nearly done with chapter 3. I suggest redusing the difficulty sign. Really. 00:31, December 29, 2009 (UTC)

I agree reduce the difficulty sign. I just finished the fight with no potions and no food. I did not even hit the demon. My cannon dit it all. Deserves 3 maybe 4 stars for difficulty. 12:35, May 23, 2011 (UTC)

this quest is too hard, it should be grandmaster.(annon)

Difficulty is a relative thing. I died almost a dozen times before finally remembering what items to bring on the side (mainly kept forgetting anti-poisons and armor) it is also dependant on skill levels. I suspect the ones touting this as easier than represented have high combat skills, great armor and potions, or some other not so obvious attribute. the pix in the walkthrough are far from both plentious and ideal, which adds difficulty not able to be gauged in a normal manner.

Since I did finish it at combat 85 I am sure it is not of grandmaster quality but wouldn't argue against the second most difficulty level

I'm stuck on making the M-Speak ammy. I used the enchanted bar on the sacrificial pyre, but nothing happened. Could someone give me a more detailed account of that portion?

Can I do it?

I'm 75 combat, 61 in all melee, 40 ranged, 45 prayer and 45 magic. I have around 450k banked, and I can earn another 500k or so without a big problem. Five stars, seriously?

This quest deserves 3, maybe 4. Monkey Madness, done by countless pures and noobs, is the same difficulty as Summer's End? Things like Summer's End, MEP2, WGS, Nomad's Requiem deserve 5 stars. This quest is too easy to be ranked among the hardest quests.

We go off of what Jagex say the difficulty is... Full slayer helmet Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon platebody 06:57, June 10, 2010 (UTC)
Oh, then Jagex must be going by the difficulty it was when it first came out or something. Jagex fails again, no big surprise.
Well 1 small favor is labeled as 1 star to continue the joke but o well Ulmuchiha 23:55, June 26, 2010 (UTC)

Jagex puts a bunch of factors into account to decide the difficulty. When was the last time you heard someone died doing One Small Favor(OSF)? there is also a length attribute which I believe OSF is given the longest level. (or they should create a longer level just for OSF... LOL)

I believe OSF was designed to get the player to ask himself "ok, where is this one gonna send me NOW?" so as to actually suprise the quester when he acquires the needed item (and then needs to retrace his steps) to finish the quest

While in MM there are places that you cannot procede and need to back up, often teleporting out and taking the long trek back to restart the same part of the quest you were trying to do(that temple killed me twice before I learned to tele out if it looked like the gorrillas had me boxed in... and took three teleouts to figure a route to the trap door)

I got the feeling that it will save a lot of time if we just refuse to second guess Jagex :D

Guide is overly complex.

A reorganization and a simpler write up would make this quest seem a lot less intimidating and confusing. I read a paragraph, and say to myself, "ok, I guess I get what to do next", so I start doing it, and then look at the next paragraph, and it says, "oh, by the way, be sure to put on protect from this or that, walk here and not there." All of that after the fact is just frustrating.

Then it says I need to talk to this person, and sends me down into a basement... am I looking for the person in this basement? Oh, there's stuff in crates, do I really need multiples of them right now? Too bad I had my inventory filled up with EVERYTHING for the quest, because Chapter 2 start didn't specify any inventory. Oh, is this the long tunnel you keep telling me about, to reach the person you keep telling me about? No? After all that, I'm just supposed to teleport out at this point. Wow nice of you to let me know NOW, at the END, and that the person I need to talk to is on another step. Nice warning about the nearly INVISIBLE spiders that CONSTANTLY interfere with getting stuff FROM the crates. Warp9pnt9 21:00, April 15, 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I hope you don't mind that I capitalized some of the titles/headings. It was just kinda bugging me (I've got OCD).

Everyone just found that the monkey that sells runes also sells monkey dentures and talismans. Not only can you make a profit form selling dentures you can buy the talisman and dentures so maybe getting talisman from monkey child is unecessary. COULD SOMEONE PLEASE PUT THIS IN THE WIKI im not good at editing wikis.

i have been in the jail 12 times!

and i'm a ninja monkey not sure if thats the right one?

BTW when will the beta wikis be updated?

Requesting a fact check

Hi, I am looking for someone beginning Monkey Madness right now who could confirm/disprove the following sentence from the guide:

  • "Players must have the seal to enter the shipyard."

Could it be false? Because I believe it is also possible to get in with just a password: "Kalumin". I've been using it ever since The Grand Tree quest. We should replace that sentence with this information, if my suspicions are correct. Then carrying the Royal Seal would be a waste of inventory space, especially when we are so low on it already with all the food and potions. We should tell players to just drop it right after they get it. 3ICE (talk) 04:30, September 6, 2012 (UTC)

At what point during the quest does the game tell us that we have unlocked the Dragon scimitar?

Rewards: "The ability to use the Dragon scimitar." So... that's it? I have seen no reference to scimitars at any point during this quest, save for Daga's scimitar shop which sells them. ... That I didn't even notice during the quest. The ending dialog doesn't even show scimitars. Did I miss something?

Also, what would have happened if I tried equipping a Dragon Scimitar before completing this quest? I regret not trying it out. 3ICE (talk) 07:13, September 7, 2012 (UTC)

I belive, since ive just compleated the quest you do need to compelete the full quest to weild the dragon scimitar. It does not tell you but after speaking to the king finnishing the quest you will have urned the right to weild it.

EoC affect - I completed this quest after the EoC update - and I wasn't bothered by the level 1 spiders at all.  At the time my total levels were around 1992 and my combat level was around 164 (higher than it was before the EoC).  Maybe an EoC update of this article is in order?  Matchgirl42 (talk) 14:19, January 16, 2013 (UTC)

Plothole: Using greegree in Ardougne Zoo?

I just finished Monkey Madness, and realised what is potentially a pretty big plothole, unless I missed something along the way. When Zooknock enchants the talisman, he mentions that he was not able to fully invest his powers in it, and the greegree will have limited use, and will only work properly in a short range i.e. Ape Atoll.

However the quest itself requires you to use the greegree to transform into a monkey in Ardougne Zoo! This is a long distance away from Ape Atoll, surely this is a plot hole?

I would like to put something about this in Trivia.
