This is a 10% chance according to the main runescape site. If that's really the case then this is definitely not worth it for high alching. The current price of nature runes is about 250. The current price of fire runes is 6. 1000 high alchs would cost 5000 fire runes which would cost 30,000. The ~100 Nature runes you'd be saving would only cost 25,000 - 26,000 -- Exd3ath 23:54, April 12, 2010 (UTC)

Considering that fire runes will stay at 6gp (they have been that much for ages so I suppose they will), nature staff is worth using for high alchemy when nature rune is over 300gp. This is not likely to happen, so you will have a loss. With superheat, however, the nature staff is worth using when nature rune is over 240gp. This is something really common so I'd recommend using one for superheat. The choice is yours though. Lathow 01:03, April 24, 2010 (UTC)

well since staves are now 2h ur idea is no longer viable. there is almost no reason to buy this staff. the staff would have to be changed to like 30-50% save nat runes in order to be remotely ok. i was personally hoping it would act like elemental staves and give unlimited nat runes but thats a pipe dream.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.192.11.196 (talk) on 03:53, March 1, 2015 (UTC).

as the chart shows. this is not profitable for any spell... so... why?!

i should have thought it through. for some reason thought i could use both the fire and nature staff at the same time. of course wasnt thinking. spent many hours dungeoneering just for the tempting offer of 10% off my nats...

Fire runes are 3 coins

As of now, May 20th, 2011 at 2:13 AM -5:00 GMT, Fire runes are 3 gp each... so does this make the nature staff a viable item for either super heat or high alchemy? Wait nvm, I figured it out from previous discussion.

High Alchemy

1000 casts * 5 fire runes * 3 coins each = 15,000 coins

100 nature runes saved * 143 coins (current price) = 14,300 coins

Right now, it's not worth it. but if nature runes went up in price to 150 coins each, then it would be worth it.

Superheat

1000 casts * 4 fire runes * 3 coins each = 12,000 coins

100 nature runes saved * 143 coins (current price) = 14,300 coins

Definitely use nature staff for superheat.

Nature runes need to be at least 120 coins each for it to be worth it.

These changes should be added to this wikipage.

Staff's angle in inventory

I find it logical if thinking about having such staff in your bag, it surely would be held in better if it's higher weight top was pointing down the bottom of inventory.. eh? Okay, I tried fixing the cost analysis in the third paragraph to fire rune*50 and fire rune*40, and got sent a vandalism warning, x5 and x4 is obviously wrong since it only activates one in 10 times, so I'll just leave my edit here.

Cost of high alchemy (Cf) = nature rune(N)

Cost of high alchemy with nature staff (Cn) = nature rune(N) * 9/10 + fire rune(F) * 5

or

Cf = N

Cn = 0.9N + 5F

Cf > Cn when

N > 0.9N + 5F

(1-0.9)N > 5F

0.1N > 5F

How many?

How many nature runes are saved if the effect activates when casting a spell that uses more than 1 nature rune? Does it only save one, or does it save all of them? IP83.101.44.209 (talk) 10:34, November 4, 2014 (UTC)
