Err, scratch that, I was thinking of balls of wool. Thread is probably sold by the tanner. IP83.101.44.209 (talk) 18:08, June 9, 2015 (UTC)

I'm having difficulty getting the cow luring one of out the way. I cannot seem to lure enough to him without dying. Any advice?SlyRS (talk) 18:15, January 26, 2016 (UTC)

Is this page only giving the official descriptions?

None of the details involved in actually doing these tasks are given, only the official descriptions in-game. The page seems a little barebones, at that. It seems a little silly to navigate to the page of each individual task to see what you actually need to do. I don't know if that's the intention or not, so instead I'm just doing this in the talk page; here are the steps for the tasks that may possibly need a little more than the official description to go on, if it's acceptable these should go in their respective 'Description' section (with asides and Zemor-X-gul removed) [italicized bracketed items are long asides]:

General

-You have to use a boost immediately before entering New Varrock, stats will not be drained more than normal (1 per minute on a set timer). The God Banner may be particularly useful as its boost lasts 30 minutes. See the elite section if boosting for the 90 Thieving requirement.

-[All of the task sets require you to open some number of the treasure chests. There exists [[File:New_Varrock_Chest_Locations.png|a map that doesn't like being linked to]] on this wiki, perhaps it could be considered to be added to this page.]

Easy

[I don't think any of these really need anything added. ]

-Hide and Seek: The tanner might not be marked on the minimap depending on your world map settings. He is located in the mid-southwestern portion of the city.

Medium

[All of these, except 'Tier Gear' are vague.]

-Cat's bane (and the hard task, Mummy Returns): Quick route starting at Gertrude's house: [I don't know if the catspeak amulet is necessary or not for the medium task - I was wearing mine the whole time - but I'm pretty sure it is for the hard task]

Go upstairs and pick up the fishbowl | go to the central square and buy some doogle leaves (two if doing the 'Micro Brew' hard task as well) | buy a bucket from the general store | milk the zombie dairy cow on the east side of town | go to the Zamorak altar, give Grumps the fishbowl and pick up the Necrofelinomicon from the slab in the northern part of the building | go to the trial announcer by the East bank, catbot 9000 is nearby, give him the doogle leaves | Climb to the top of the church, give Baron Mauser the milk | go back near Gertrude's house, give 'Fraidy cat the Necrofelinomicon. The medium task is done, and you can do Mummy Returns (see hard section) now.

-Pick half: The map.

-Scrying game: Easiest done during Defender of Varrock. Otherwise, you will need a vial, the zombie outfit, and the means to kill an Armoured Zombie. Collect red mist, head to the northwesternmost room of the first floor of the castle (UK) and go through all the options with the scrying pool.

-They had a Gudrun: You will need a vial of orange mist (use yellow dye on red mist, obtained during the curse of arrav section). Head to the apothecary, pick from a cadavaberry bush, and ask for the potion. Go to Zemorfrootloopgul's study and use it on the chain of heads just south of his desk. If you have 90 thieving go ahead and simply click on the chest next to his desk to finish an elite task as well.

Hard

-Bank-Z: Done during the Curse of Arrav section. If you missed this, you will need a purple mist vial and the zombie outfit. Enter the purple barrier in the northeastern section of the first floor (UK) and search Zemotrademarkedbrandgul's footlocker for the vault key. Enter the vault next to the stairs you came in and talk to Tiny Zemocucooforcocopuffsgul then deface the three paintings on the north wall.

-Micro Brew: Buy an empty jug and vial from the general store, fill up the vial, and buy doogle leaves from Xuan (northwestern corner of the central square). Go to the southwesternmost section of the ground floor of the castle, fill up the jug, and use the items together. Give the brew to Tiny Zemor... You know what his name is.

-Mummy Returns: Complete Cat's Bane first. Head to the western side of the graveyard and you will see the cats assembled trying to resurrect Fluffs. Investigate the gravemarker twice and have a potentially heartwarming experience.

-Pick All - see the map. You don't need to join both gangs, the 6 chests in each gangs' hideouts are shared.

-South AND West Side Story: You DO need to join both gangs. The only way to do this is by joining the other gang on a replay. If you don't remember which gang you joined, it shows up as brighter text in the in-game journal.

Elite

-Dark Imperator-ment: Hit the button to the large, broken stone statue at the museum and go through the options. [When I did this, blood tendrils and the others didn't count until I used Ice Asylum first] It seems you need to do Ice Asylum first or the others won't count.

-Guard is Dead: Safespot a guard. [The guards have odd movement patterns, it seems they won't move if you attack them from a few squares away, otherwise just lure them to a fence] Use the mithril crossbow (quest reward), iron bolts, and an iron-tier offhand (both can be purchased for cheap from the archery shop) for fastest results, this is the best possible weapon setup in New Varrock.

-Moo-er of All Bombs: *DAMAGE* Zemofrootloopgul by luring cows to him, he takes no damage while his portals are up. [A bug causes them to explode prematurely if they walk over one of the three basic portal locations (they spawn in fixed positions on the first and second phase, I am referring to these fixed positions), even if the portals are not up.]

-Steel, Stud, or Silk Salute: Purchase Zaff's/Sani's shop upgrade with 2 silver pennies after the quest line is completed, or check if you already have it unlocked. Zaff will sell spider silk and Sani will sell coal, making it possible to craft tier 20 gear of any style. Buy silk from Zaff and thread from Thessalia and make Spider silk gloves, boots, robe top, robe bottom, and hood, then salute with these equipped. [Don't bother making other, low level armour; steel and studded take longer and none of this T20 armour does anything for you. Save time and just make spider silk.][If you haven't done the quest series, the only way to make T20 gear is by killing guards for uncommon drops. Since you'll only have (best setup:) a mithril crossbow and off-hand iron knives against opponents that use abilities and have 12k/34k health and high defence, this could take upwards of two hours safespotting them. You need to finish the quest series anyway for another task, so there's really no point to doing this the hard way.]

-Top Pick: [Get to safecracking, boi] You will need an orange mist vial. Go to the northwestern section of the castle and pick the chest. If boosting with anything other than the God banner, it may be wise to use movement abilities (Surge, equip dual melee weapons and use bladed dive, and Barge on a guard on the way). 68.107.137.127 04:19, May 6, 2018 (UTC)
