I was a bit confused about the vines as well. I think i fought this stupid thing like 5 - 7 times cause he kept getting vines, but i noticed that whenever i hit a high hit (with ruby e) and it skipped over that certain zone in which he would regularly be healing, he didnt. I think his health has to be somewhere close to the intervals in order for him to heal himself, might be a glitch, i dont know. My guess (which could very well be wrong) is that he heals at 75%, but in a similar fashion to how the ring of life works, if you knocked him from 80% to 70% and skipped over the margin in which he heals (which could be something like anywhere between 72% and 78%) then he would just keep on fighting. I'd like to find out what was going on here though, it was quite peculiar [[User:EmperorITNE|EmperorITNE]] 02:04, January 12, 2010 (UTC)

You don't have to fight the destruction avatar. Avatar of creation is an easy, but long fight. The best way to kill it is with ruby bolts (e). It's easy to safespot it. Killing Nomad looks to be the hardest fight in the game. I honestly don't think it can be done without overload potions. --[[User:Wowbagger421|Wowbagger421]] 19:08, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

In response to the people who are claiming that you practically need max stats to defeat nomad, that is untrue. Anyone with good range, defense, hitpoints, & decent summoning can beat Nomad with a little $ & determination. I'm 120 combat with 85 range, 89 hp, 83 prayer, & 81 summ. I just ranged it ruby (e) and blk d'hide (snakeskin boots, fury, rune c'bow, spirit shield (basic), archer's helm, barrows gloves). I took 9 super restores, 19 sara brews + 18 brews in the familiar. I had leftovers. It took me 4 attempts, but this strategy worked well for me in the end. Just be sure to stand 1-2 spaces away & sip a sara brew, super restore, & range potion before you leave. I also used the curses leech defense & deflect magic. I cannot confirm how effective these are if they work at all on Nomad, but they seemed to make my 4th attempt a lot easier. This may just be b/c I was getting more used to him, but you can check into that more if you want to. Good luck, & give it at least 4-5 tries before you consider putting it off for later.

Anyone else think the reward isn't that great? 70 zeal points is nothing compared to the 450k experience of Blood Runs Deep, and the cape is good, but not amazing. Dsctatom 19:44, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

first device puzzle

(this is in the second room from the entrance room)

You only need the 3 cross shaped blocks in the middle column and the two ones with a vertical line with a shorter line in the middle, in the bottom corners to make it work.

All the blocks with a horizontal line from edge to edge are unneeded or red herrings.

(first room) In the top room of the second entrance from the hallway you can change the waterflow to go into the first or second room. Put it on the first room and go there. take out the guardians. take some elemental fuel from the edges of the room. If you place it on the floor, an elemental creature will come out to eat it. place a trail of food on the floor that lures it into the waterfall. it will die. do this 3 times and the machine stops working. --Iavirissa 16:31, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

Level 699 Nomad... Fake?

Level 699 seems like a rather high combat level for a quest monster (If you're meant to solo it) FredeTalk 17:46, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

Thats his combat level when you first see him, though I haven't progressed far enough to see if thats his level when you fight him. Cheers, Penderwyll 17:50, January 11, 2010 (UTC)
Is it even proven that you're going to / have to fight him? FredeTalk 17:55, January 11, 2010 (UTC)
I did enter the room and you need to fight him, he is 699, when you die you appear in the soul war lobby and you get a gravestone were you spawn at the end of a soul war game so IT IS SAFE. I did try it whit some junk on me and no armor/weapon and i did menage to do a 3-7-4 whit 88 attack, 87 strenght and it took him some time to kill me, about 9-10 attack and i have 85 defence so i think if you put effort you can kill it(familior might help but i didn't try and the barrow thing my be true because when you die your item are dropped on the ground were your gravestone his) --I3igi3ob 18:23, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

It happens every time a new quest is released. And as long as we have awesome people like you, reverting vandalism, protection shouldn't be necessary. FredeTalk 17:54, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

I know for a fact there is Avatar of Decay, haven't gotten to fighting Nomad, if you do. (Tubbytubby9 18:34, January 11, 2010 (UTC))

I'd like some additional evidence, but from my battle, the avatar only healed three times. The fourth time took long enough that there could have been a vine spring up, but none did. I think this might be an equalizing idea from Jagex, but without further evidence, I'm not sure. Cheers, and good luck. Penderwyll 18:59, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

Final Boss

  • I just beat nomad in a very odd way. I he was near death and killed me and my deflect melee prayer hit him for 7 and killed him. At least I think it was my deflect and not the tortoise. Either way, I think deflects still do help deal back damage, even if they don't reduce damage. Also, I was using leech prayers that I think helped lower his defence considerably. He is a tough fight, but possible without overloads or soul split (barely but possible!).Bio 21:01, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

The "barrows armour will be destroyed"

Nomad's Clones

During the phase where Nomad makes illusory copies of himself, all three "fake" Nomad's attack at the same time, with the real Nomad attacking after a slight delay. If you are paying attention and can react quickly enough, you only need to endure one salvo of "Clone Blasts".--ItsMrPants 03:20, January 12, 2010 (UTC)

You Don't Need Maxed Stats

I used your strategy and got him:) it works. I have 85 att def str and range, 80 summ and pray and herb, and 90 hp. --Iavirissa 23:32, January 12, 2010 (UTC)

I did with, 76Att, 85Str, 77Def, 81Range, 83Mage, 83Hp, 71Prayer, 81Herb, 69Sum Cb=109. Method was with Sara Brews/Super Restores see RSfourms QFC:90-91-536-59980616 page 55

Max Hp - 1

Anyone know if this is avoidable like the 75 Hp attack is?

I'm not sure, since I can't even start the quest yet... but reading through the article I get the impression that he freezes you and then, after a small delay, but before you can move, he does the "max hp -1" attack. So I don't think it is avoidable, but if you quickly eat during the freeze, you won't be killed by Nomad. And after the "max hp -1" attack Nomad will stop attacking you for a few seconds, giving you time to bring your health up again. So...
  • Nomad freezes you, at this point you should eat.
  • Nomad hits you with the "max hp -1" attack.
  • Nomad waits a few seconds, at this point you should eat again.
  • And then the fight continues.

Good luck fighting Nomad! --Runerune239 18:48, January 12, 2010 (UTC)

You can range him during the few seconds that you are frozen. You basically get free hits as he is building up to the big hit and I didn't notice any attacks on me. So the fight doesn't really have to stop. I found the delay was plenty of time to get up to max hp to survive the big hit. I is just a way to burn up your food.

So the battle against Nomad is safe? That's just dumb. No challenge. If you die you can just go fight him over and over and over again. --Nup(T) 09:15, January 13, 2010 (UTC)

Maybe but think about it if you try whit sarabrew and super restore if you die you will get back your equipment but the potion you will have used will have cost you a lot of money so you still think twice before going without the proper equipment. --I3igi3ob 09:21, January 13, 2010 (UTC)

Also, for instance, I died before I could teleport out and lost all 18 items in my familiar. Big loss there. The fight is still a challenge. I'm having to face the fact that at combat level 111, I'm just not high enough and it's going to take me a long time to get there. So much for my Quest cape. I had just gotten it back, too. I know a lot of people my combat level or less who used to have it- I guess it's going to become a lot more scarce. Pet cat (purple) chatheadAhiaorinaTalk 10:49, January 13, 2010 (UTC)

I found it a challenge to get my timing down for when to drink what and when to run and such. Eight or nine deaths for me used up practically my entire stock of pots, and they aren't buying on the GE right now very easy. I came very close to saying hell with it. Glad I didn't though. And for some reason, on 2 of my deaths I didn't get my bolts back.--Degenret01 14:29, January 13, 2010 (UTC)

Maybe you used them all up and didn't notice? Quest point cape detail Brux Talk 18:53, January 13, 2010 (UTC)
