More combat training:
Fire Surge 95xp base - Max xp with no bonuses (28 damage) 207xp
Alchemy 65xp
Fire surging Irons/Steels will make back a good portion of the cost of runes, not to mention it is much faster than alching as well as less tedious. I spent 27M on runes and made 18M of that back (no visage drops), as well as close to 2000 assorted charms.
Avi's have very weak mage defense and using surge on them is another good option, via tank method or prayer with magic/monk robes.

You can do this with Slayer Dart. It less cost effective and works very well too.

Are we showing the best data?[]
Is this list attempting to show the best method at a given level, or just various methods? Camelot teleport is faster than bones to peaches, and more than twice as cheap. I'm a regular user and I approve this message. TLUL Talk - Contribs 23:42, June 16, 2010 (UTC)
- You know what, somebody really needs to go through and check the xp per hour. We need cost/xp and cost/hour columns, too. I'll add what I can, but my magic level is too low for much of the table. I'm a regular user and I approve this message. TLUL Talk - Contribs 02:51, June 20, 2010 (UTC)
Other methods[]
Possible to cast a Stun then fast cast an High Alchemy. It's around 1000+Alch and 1000+Stun per hour. Easily 170k/hour if it's done on POH Elemental balance.
um, you want to start from scratch?[]
This guide was once much better, or at least not very memorable for being God-forsaken. I suggest you do some research on some of the other fansites, add some material of your own, and start over. Have you ever heard of powered orbs? -- TheLastWordSword 208.83.126.102 17:17, October 7, 2010 (UTC) And why is it that the F2P guide isn't half as crappy as this one? 208.83.126.102 17:21, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
Combat[]
Why aren't there more combat methods listed? I tried Fire Waving Aviansies with Elite Void and a SoL (along with other bits of equips) while using prayer, and I managed to do good profit. Maging Green/Blue dragons is also very effective, as they have nearly no magic defence. I'd put these things in but I'm bad with templates. Also, certain methods are effective even past their level range and should be listed on other sections. Melc Crystal 18:39, December 9, 2010 (UTC)
Rewrite proposal[]
I think it's pretty clear that the article needs reorganization. Unfortunately, there are quite a few different factors that people might want it organized by.
Here's my list of possible factors I think people might base training off of.
- Combat involvement (pure vs non-pure, safe vs dangerous, etc)
- Cost (fast XP at high cost vs slower XP with profit)
- Spellbook (might not want to do Desert Treasure, Lunar Diplomacy, or Dream Mentor)
- Click-intensiveness (might not like clicking constantly for Plank Make)
With so many factors to account for, it would be impossible to make a reasonably-short article that has separate sections for each. I propose that the article only sort by level, since that's the one factor that's universally applicable to everyone. Each level range would list all the newly-available techniques that are clearly better in at least one way to all lower-level techniques, letting the reader decide which techniques to switch to and when.
Finally, there should be a section at the end with non-level-based information.
Based on the above, here's my proposed outline for the rewrite.
- Intro
- Methods by level
- Level 1-X
- Level X-Y
- Level Y-Z
- Level Z-99
- Non-level-based information
- List of monsters with high health and low magic resistance
- Equipment and potions
- Minigames
- Distractions and Diversions
- Quest rewards
Other things in the rewrite proposal:
- Eliminate most table use and rewrite into sections.
- Remove all mention of whether a method is P2P or F2P; this is a guide for members, so they can do both equally well.
Questions? Suggestions? Support? Please reply! --User:MarkGyver/Signature/Real 23:00, December 9, 2010 (UTC)
Hmm, I support, especially the idea of rewriting into sections, like the melee training guide. But I have a question: What about methods effective on multiple levels such as alchemy, teleportation, humidify, etc?
And a suggestion: A simple table to help classify the monsters good for combat magic before giving more info Ex:
Monster (level: AB - XYZ)
Life Points | Recommended Magic Level |
1230 - 3210 | XY Minimum AZ+ Recommended |
(maybe add a section in the table mentioning if the monster has good drops) Info:
Located at Place A and B, completion of quest "Radda Radda" to access Place B, ABC spell is recommended, etc.
Advantages:
- X
- Y
- Z
Disadvantages:
- A
- B
- C

Im quite a newcomer at editing, however i do agree that this article needs a complete makeover, ive been using rs wiki for over three years and this article is in need of some TLC. - Spookie Pie
- I'm going to convert the text to prose. After that, it'll hopefully be easier to decide what's best for the article. Manga Maniac 18:17, January 12, 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks! The first parts look much better now. I'm thinking it might be better having a separate section for each level that a new useful technique unlocks at instead of the level ranges I originally suggested. --User:MarkGyver/Signature/Real 23:07, January 12, 2011 (UTC)
Alchemy[]
I think it would be very helpful to add a page about high alching and the best items to high alch. I hear from many people that high alching is by far the best way to level up your magic.
Murdes =) 04:44, July 14, 2011 (UTC)
There are already several pages of alching information. Here's a short list of the most relevant:
- Grand Exchange Market Watch/Alchemy - All profitable items in a sortable table.
- Grand Exchange Market Watch/Alchemy - A sortable table of some commonly-alched items with a buy limit column saying how many you may buy on the GE every 4 hours.
- High Level Alchemy - General information.
Also, during times that alching is less profitable, you might want to check the Grand Exchange Central's alchemy profits list which shows the all the current top items even if they aren't profitable. User:MarkGyver/Signature/Real 06:04, July 14, 2011 (UTC)
More 90+ methods[]
Not that I'm in need of such high level training but I noticed there are only 2 methods. I heard allot of people training even at such levels with Plank Make but im not an expert on that. I don't think 2 methods give enough diversity when training.
71.161.116.162 10:55, December 20, 2012 (UTC) Using water surge on armoured zombies is now around 150k exp an hour due to their weakness to water spells.

There is however this clip of a guy who found a new method

2 stun sections?[]
there are 2 stunning sections in the 70-93 section of the page if theres ment to be 2 or not?.. no good with editing templates so if anyone wants to edit go for it ANGRYnubtalk 23:31, August 20, 2012 (UTC)
Magic armour?[]
I think we need to add a section on magic armour for combat training - rember to be cost-effective.
Stinky Troll[1] 00:57, September 10, 2012 (UTC)
"The metal armour is designed to reduce the effectiveness of combat spells so that the target can be 'splashed' to receive minimum damage, so that the target regenerates their life points at a faster rate than what they are being damaged at."
This sentence is completely false. We can gain experience only after a kill, so we need to train magic and do damage as effective as possible.
This page is a mess, I've add the incomplete table and am currently working on revamping this guide over the course of several days... Any help or suggestion would be appreciated
This guide is out of date completely, and need to be revised, it's an embarassment to this site...

XP per hour[]
Note that while I am re-working the page and adding some new methods or at least clarifying them in ways that are actually useful, any data used was already present on the page. Thus, following EoC, all 'exp per hour' numbers quoted will need to be checked and updated. This wouldn't hurt to be done with all methods. Also, if anyone has any real methods they find useful that can not be found on the page as of yet, feel free to include the method so we can get it added appropriately. - LDemonl (talk) 03:02, May 30, 2015 (UTC)
Sub-sections[]
I feel like the previous edit was better for minigames, etc using bold titles rather than headers due to unnecessary fluffing of the navigation menu. Having a link to the minigames under a header, for example, is enough - each individual minigame seems like over kill.
Thoughts? -- 02:47, July 26, 2015 (UTC) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by LDemonl (talk) on 02:47, July 26, 2015 (UTC).
- If the only issue was the size of the table of contents, I have limited it to 2 levels. IP83.101.44.209 (talk) 03:46, July 26, 2015 (UTC)
- That was only one aspect. I thought it looked cleaner with titles because beyond the third level all of the headers look the same. I'm not sure why my last comment didn't add my name though. o.o -- User:LDemonl/Signature 05:57, July 26, 2015 (UTC)
- I assume you accidentally typed five tildes instead of four, which gives you the current time instead of leaving your signature. --Iiii I I I 06:01, July 26, 2015 (UTC)

There's a mention of magic training through Barbarian Assault (Attacker role). As far as I know, attackers don't get combat experience. Please change it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 106.51.30.104 (talk) on 20:06, April 19, 2016 (UTC).
