What's the point of this "guide?" The Woodcutting skill guide has it all, which makes this "guide" effectively useless. Besides, willows aren't even the fastest experience in the game. Check out my userpage for the true givers of mad experience.  Tien  00:44, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

adding your methods to the article would be a good idea. May be coloured blue in the near future.earth(t)

No offence to maker, but this was poorly written. Jdogy15 00:13, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Yews are roughly 25k xp an hour. Not 50k.

I have 99 woodcutting and in no way are teaks faster than Ivy. I did teaks for a few million experience which took ages (not to mention having to pay constant attention). When I became a member again recently and learned about ivy, I thought I would give it a shot. With a woodcutting level in the high 90s it is easy to reach 100k exp per hour (not to mention being able to be AFK for a while).

I think you need to cut about 50k Ivy to get from 1-99, which is pretty fast (I think?).

Soz 68-99 lol

XP rates[]

Some of the xp rates on this page are grossly incorrect. Ivy can NEVER yield over 100k XP over hour, for instance. With a dragon hatchet/inferno adze and cutting behind castlewars, you will be hard pressed to even hit 80-90k per hour at 99 woodcutting. Teaks on the over hand, are grossly underestimated. Maximum XP per hour at 99 woodcutting at teaks is about 110k, though for the average player who will likely make a few mistakes, 90-100k per hour is a more reasonable estimate.

In addition some fundamentals have been missed out, for instance full lumberjack's effect on training, and the benefit that cutting teaks also provides decent firemaking XP. 90.212.203.233 (talk) forgot to sign this comment on 13:08, 8 May 2010.

There is some inconsistency between the experience rate of ivy shown in the training section, and the breakdown further down the page. Something more correct would be lovely.-- Rene Skat 19:47, December 11, 2010 (UTC)

Prices[]

Some of the log prices and high/low alchs are incorrect. Someone has been vandalizing the log pages or this page.

- NinjaMatie

Without trying to sound stupid, but if Ivy is 80k xp/h at 99, how would it average to 90k/h from 96-99?

low alching now obsolete?[]

Noticed in the hardwood section that you can now left click light(drop) and click the tree immediately to avoid any delay in woodcutting, aren't you not woodcutting in that time between dropping and clicking the tree?

Is low alching still a faster method at the price of nature runes or is it no longer even worth considering with the light option?

Artic pine rates seem wrong[]

According to the "Fastest Experience - Low alching arctic pine" section, you can get 100k-140k xp/h... this seems kind of wrong, I was cutting with dragon hatchet (they suggest inferno adze, which cuts at the same rate) and beaver, no wc urn, low alching. I got about 75k/h. I don't feel like wc urn would get you that much more xp, would it? Each strong urn gives you a bonus of ~8k xp... Leave me a message :) Annarelda Hiscores 09:25, July 3, 2012 (UTC)

Never mind, I did it again and it was higher. I guess it is very variable. Leave me a message :) Annarelda Hiscores 12:59, July 3, 2012 (UTC)

Elder XP rates[]

This morning, at lvl 92 woodcutting with a dragon hatchet, I got 103 logs and 33k experience in 1 hour.  I'm hesitant to add that to the page though based on my experience alone.  Anyone else have any numbers?Matchgirl42 (talk) 04:09, October 9, 2013 (UTC)

Updates to the guide (March 2015)[]

Placing this message here to explain the updates I’ve just made to this page.

Willows vs maples

Maples can be cut at level 45 woodcutting, they would be an alternative to willows for a more AFK training method than teaks (until cutting ivy). Maples were always less xp/hour than willows when I tried them from level 45 up until level 68, with the difference being large enough that even using a seer’s headband for extra xp when cutting maples, maples would still be slower than cutting willows.

Maples

Level XP in time tested Equivalent XP/hour
45-46 10,900/20m 32,700
51-52 4,800/10m 28,800
56 5,000/10m 30,000
60 12,300/21m 30s 34,326
64 8,600/15m 34,400
67 6,500/10m 39,000

Willows

Level XP in time tested Equivalent XP/hour
46-47 5,940/10m 35,640
51 5,737/10m 34,422
55-56 6,682/10m 40,092
60 10,530/15m 42,120
64 11,475/15m 45,900
67 7,560/10m 45,360

Mahogany

Can be cut at level 50 Woodcutting, similar to teak, at the hardwood grove. At level 50 Woodcutting these are ~14.5K xp/20m (43.5K/hour), at level 71 they’re ~20625/25m (49500/hr) and at 99 they’re around 65.5K/hour. Didn’t include them as they’re pretty much exactly the same as teaks but worse xp.

Teaks vs Arctic Pines vs Crystal trees

Was expecting arctic pines to be better xp than teaks but they actually worse xp/hour. Usually ~85k xp/hr (up to 90k) at level 99 with arctic pines and ~92k xp/hr at level 99 with teaks. Could not use a crystal hatchet when I was testing so the experience rates for 75+ are lower than what they should be and I didn’t include them in the guide.

Using all possible boosts arctic pines are just faster than teaks (~160k/hr vs. ~145k/hr), however this is using beaver familiars, a legendary lumberjack aura, superior log-splitting scrimshaws, perfect wc jujus and urns and crimson skillchompas. Without using skillchompas artic pines and teaks are both around 140k xp/hr. Crystal trees were around 160k/hr with skillchompas and 123k/hr without them. So it is actually possible to get more xp at arctic pines or teaks than at crystal trees if using all boosts available - however I didn’t put this in the guide because I don’t think expecting players to be using all boosts is very realistic. The two boosts which have by far the greatest impact on xp rates are using skillchompas (which are very expensive currently for the extra experience that they give) and the legendary lumberjack aura (which costs a lot of loyalty points and even when owned can only be used for an hour or two at a time). The other boosts in the guide have a much smaller impact on experience rates, so overall for the majority players (not using skillchompas and the best tier aura) I think teaks and crystal trees would be best overall for training.

Teaks

Level XP in time tested Equivalent XP/hour
53-54 10,880/12m 31s 52,224
58-59 14,790/15m 59,160
62 20,910/20m 62,730
65 22,525/20m 67,575
70 23,970/30m 71,910
76 62,815/50m 75,378
79 110,500/1hr 27m 76,206

Arctic pines

Level XP in time tested Equivalent XP/hour
54-55 27,058/30m 54,116
59 18,226/19m 16s 57,555
62 13,879/13m 45s 59,481
65 24,254/22m 40s 63,271
70 22,712/20m 68,136
76 73,605/1hr 2m 71,230
79 76,689/1hr 76,689/1hr

Eucalyptus

Got around 10,725 xp/15m (42900/hr) with level 58 Woodcutting and 57,750/hr at level 99 Woodcutting.

Yews

At level 61 using a dragon hatchet I got 17,150 xp/30m (34300/hr) at yews (would be equivalent to 196 yew logs an hour) and at level 99 I got 44,625/hr.

Sawmill

At level 80 Woodcutting this is ~80,477/hr (160,954/2hr) and at 99 its around 94,529/hr at 99 (189,058/2hr).

More information needed[]

This page needs more experience rates from players with different Woodcutting levels. The methods that need to be tested are cutting teak trees (at level 75, 80, 85, 90 and 93) and cutting ivy (at levels 75, 80, 85, 90, 93). Experience rates should be from Woodcutting with a crystal hatchet only; using no experience boosting items or bonus XP. The experience rates for teaks should be based on training where teaks are dropped using the action bar. The section on woodcutting in a clan citadel also needs more information from players with a Woodcutting level of less than 99, and potentially also information about woodcutting from a Woodcutting plot under tier 7.

Evil trees[]

Added new section about woodcutting these following the recent update that buffed experience for the top 3 types of evil tree. The method I used was to woodcut one evil root and then woodcut the tree until the root grew back. The exact xp rates I got were:

  • Elder tree 1: 44,628/11 minutes 30 seconds = 232,842/hr
  • Elder tree 2: 46,076 /11 minutes = 251,324/hr
  • Magic tree 1: 77,003/24 minutes = 192,507.5/hr
  • Magic tree 2: 62,435/22 minutes = 170,277/hr
  • Yew tree: 61,014/26 minutes = 140,802/hr

Elder trees both had ~10 other people woodcutting. Magic tree 1 was with 1 other person and magic tree 2 was done solo. The yew tree was done with 1 other person.

Updated experience rates:
  • Yew tree - 54,215/29m 15s = 111,210/hr (no other players cutting)
  • Magic tree - 72,025/24m 30s = 176,388/hr (1 other player cutting)
  • Elder tree 1 - 82,842/23m 15s = 213,786/hr (2/4 other players cutting)
  • Elder tree 2 - 50,797/13m 15s = 230,024/hr (~5 other players cutting)
  • Average for elders - 133,639/36m 30s = 219,680

Crystallise[]

Added information about Crystallise. At level 99 Woodcutting:

  • Arctic pines (using crystallise & light form) - 79,717/30m = 159,434
  • Arctic pines (using crystallise & light form, lumberjack outfit, legendary aura, perfect juju, superior scrimshaw, beaver and strong urns) - 112,854/30m = 225,708
  • Teaks (using crystallise & light form) - 88,360/30m = 176,720
  • Teaks (using crystallise & light form, lumberjack outfit, legendary aura, perfect juju, superior scrimshaw, beaver and strong urns) - 118,459/30m = 236,918

SAWMILLS[]

How about sawmill jobs being mentioned as a P2P training method?

106.51.225.255 18:33, January 3, 2016 (UTC)

They are not as good for training Woodcutting as the methods mentioned here, but Sawmill training#Rewards does have an experience rate for doing them :) Magic logs detailIsobelJTalk page 09:23, January 4, 2016 (UTC)

Crystallise: Level 94?[]

I don't see why it is recommended to crystallise teaks from level 94, when the xp is also great for lower Woodcutting levels. Anyone care to enlighten me on this/edit the page? Thanks! --94.210.67.207 02:06, October 29, 2016 (UTC)

Teaks are the best method for training 35-94, even if you don't have crystallise. After 94, teaks are only good for training if you have crystallise - if you don't have crystallise you should do crystal trees. Hope that clears it up :) Magic logs detailIsobelJTalk page 19:13, October 30, 2016 (UTC)
That does clear up a lot, thanks! It had me confused since it comes across as if level 94 is a requirement for crystallising teaks. Maybe adding an allusion to Crystallise in the earlier 'regular' teak section would be a good idea to avoid confusion? I believe the Mining article has a similar problem with respect to granite, as well. --94.210.67.207 01:16, October 31, 2016 (UTC)

Wrong Accumulator Info[]

Sup

The part about woodcutting accumulators says you need 60 invention and to specialize in the goblin tech tree. I meet neither of those requirements and have made and used them. Also might be worth mentioning the crafting requirement to make the urns used in the process.

Should be fixed now. --Iiii I I I 08:46, February 11, 2017 (UTC)

Bamboo and golden bamboo[]

Do these have any use in fast training? People will want to cut quite a lot for the arc anyway. Rich Farmbrough, 17:28 18 February 2017 (UTC).

There's experience rates on the Golden Bamboo (tree) and Bamboo (tree) pages, they're not the fastest wc method, but might be worth a mention anyway. Magic logs detailIsobelJTalk page 08:56, February 21, 2017 (UTC)

The XP rates for crystallise teaks are wrong. >210,000xp/h is easily achievable at 99 woodcutting. I edited it but it was reverted for some reason. FrenchToastRS (talk) 19:00, March 23, 2017 (UTC)

Hey I removed the increased rate as we only use base experience rates in training guides (I put this in the edit summary which you can see in the page history, but sorry if you didn't see that). Experience rates with bonus items can be found on the teak page already, otherwise I would have moved it there. Thanks, Magic logs detailIsobelJTalk page 18:10, March 24, 2017 (UTC)

Acadia trees using Crystallize should start at 80 Woodcutting[]

Wouldn't it make sense to have the methods/summary table be like this? In the current form, it is very confusing since you can start using Crystallize at level 80 Woodcutting (if i'm not mistaken), which is definitely better than just chopping Acadia trees all the way up to level 94. I had it like this before but it was changed.

Level Method Woodcutting experience per hour Alternative methods
1-15 Regular trees 14,500
15-30 Oak trees 19,000
30-35 Willow trees 27,000
35-47 Teak trees 41,000–49,000
47-80 Acadia trees 55,000–??
80-99+ Acadia trees using Crystallise 142,000–180,000

Note: I left the Alternative methods blank for this discussion since those just add to this confusion. I just want the Main Methods to be accurate/make the most sense. Zahti (talk) 18:15, September 2, 2017 (UTC)

This seems logical to me, I'd encourage your change. If you did of course also update the more detailed part aswell as the summary. I'd be interested in the author that changed it's input aswell, first. --User:Borithel/Signature 04:15, September 7, 2017 (UTC)
Acadia trees are the best method from 47-94 regardless of whether you have crystallise or not (ofc if you can use crystallise you should do, as well as any other boosts you have access to mentioned in the useful equipment section). At 94 cutting acadias is only the best method if you are using crystallise, otherwise crystal trees/golden bamboo would be a better option.
