Requires 10 skills level 75?

Currently this page says 8 skills are needed at level 75, but in the lastest BTS video mod mark says 10?

Zachattck1 (talk) 23:42, August 3, 2014 (UTC)

The decision was made to omit the 75 Ranged/Woodcutting requirements from the list, as anyone hoping to do Plague's End will already have them from the prerequisite quest Within the Light. Small recharge gem.png AnselaJonla Slayer-icon.png 00:25, August 4, 2014 (UTC)
I personally believe that the requirements should still be on the page; it's listed ingame.Ghostly Owns (talk) 04:27, March 9, 2016 (UTC)
As do I, please do not remove the requirements, unless Runescape information shows otherwise 09:03, June 26, 2016 (UTC)
They are indirect requirements, therefore we do not list them. If Jagex do list them (in this case, redundantly), that isn't our problem. :) 18px-Avatar.png Fswe1 26px-Brassica_Prime_symbol.svg.png 12:54, June 26, 2016 (UTC)
IMO It's misleading to add requirements just because they're listed as requirements in-game, even if they're not actually requirements. Take Priest in Peril for example, it's still listed as a requirement for most of the Morytania quests, even though as of 2012 they can be done without it. I guess 75 Woodcutting and Ranged are a bit different in that they're actual requirements (if you were to somehow do Within the Light without them, you'd be prevented from starting Plagues End), but the opening paragraph is misleading in that says "Within the Light in addition to 10 skills at level 75", which implies that there are two other level 75 skills. So that needs to be changed at the very least :/.Adventurer's log Wahisietel (Talk) Quest map icon.png 13:15, June 26, 2016 (UTC)

My points from doing the quest:

When trying to find the elders

Traehearn- go to well of voyage, directly south is a wall you can mine, enter and fight off three traehearn automatons (one for each combat type), repair her exoskeleton with a rune bar, then wake her.

Crwys- chopping trees in tirannwn leads you to the tree you need to talk to. It is located in the dense forest east of tyras camp. use a plant cure on it to talk to him.

Ithell- around lleyta are 5 symbols of ithell, one near the bank, one north of the altar, and three more near shops. When you activate them all, you'll have plans to build a statue in the centre of lletya using 10 magic logs. Do so to find out lady ithell is an elf citizen.

Amlodd - take the charm gwir gives you plus 200 spirit shards, a spirit pouch and one of each summ charm to a summ obelisk and  make a pouch. summon him.

Hefin- starting south of the magic trees outside lletya, jump on rocks into the poison waste, across islands, all the way west off hte poison waste. there is a hermit camp. Lady hefin will quiz you on seren, the answers are option 2, 1, 1, 3 (iirc)

Meiyr- brew the potion given to you which is just adding ground red and blue mushrooms (picked in isafdar) to a defence potion (3). Go to daemonheim to the castle and drink a dose. a portal will appear, step in and talk to her. Almost all the enemies in the quest are weak to magic, including the final boss, which also uses magic and spawns dark clouds that you must avoid to prevent typless damage.

Rewards were heaps of 50k exp lamps, an exoskeleton set, each piece of which gives 25% protection against stuns when pickpocketing and bites whenin pyramid plunder (very op, I think each piece gives 25% and set gives 100%? havent tested  it yet). you also get "of the elves" title and access to prifddinas and 2 qp

Want A Soul (talk) 13:31, August 11, 2014 (UTC)Want A Soul

25% is the set effect, not individual piece effect. The set has other benefits, like -2kg per piece, the Black Ibis bonus xp, and the bracers give 5% more successes in pickpocketing. All told by the Check option they have in-game, so they may be wrong. Nothing special here. (talk) 16:21, August 11, 2014 (UTC)
My two cents on the topic - I noticed that during boss fight there sometimes were no purple mist attacks when standing between pillars. Not entirelly sure why though. Also seems shadows are less agressive with Dark lord in weakened state 08:13, August 12, 2014 (UTC)

Crystal Trinket?

Currently the required items lists the Crystal Trinket. I just completed the quest and did not use the crystal trinket at all. Can somebody confirm if the trinket is actually required?

Yayepicyay (talk) 13:41, August 11, 2014 (UTC)

I didn't have it on me or in my bank during the entire quest. I think the list was transcribed from the items given in-game, which are definitely prone to being inaccurate. Nothing special here. (talk) 16:18, August 11, 2014 (UTC)

The mushrooms are just scattered about the forest Andreg13 (talk) 19:11, August 11, 2014 (UTC)

Crystal Trinket not needed as you don't actually enter the temple. Fred lay (talk) 20:57, August 11, 2014 (UTC) 20:56, August 11, 2014 (UTC)

Players' reactions/controversy?

Just a speculative question. The feedback has, on the whole, been overwhelmingly negative for this quest, with many people citing the fact that it felt lazy and/or rushed, and that there were many plot holes left unanswered. Given that this is a wiki with such a comprehensive documentation on so many other topics, it seems like this is something which should rightfully be included, as many quests don't have such an extreme reaction to them. For history's sake, I believe it is important to document it here.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 19:59, August 13, 2014 (UTC).

People complain about everything, what makes this special? MolMan 20:00, August 13, 2014 (UTC)
If you are on RS forums, you are only viewing a vocal minority. (sad that it goes both ways.) Without a major poll accessible to the players, with thousands, or 10s of thousands, of votes saying positive, neutral, or negative, you will have a hard time giving a definitive statement as to the overall feel of the quest. Yes, some people hated it, some people liked it. Personally, I thought it was ok. However. Mod Osborne's comment on 800k vs 500k xp comment due to an error in an early draft, making it public, thus Jagex plans to release the added 300k not given in a quest, when the city is released, that might be something to add ... --Deltaslug (talk) 21:15, August 13, 2014 (UTC)
It has NOT been overwhelming negative, most of the people I talked to enjoyed the quest, although admitted it wasn't perfect. There are no plotholes in the quest, just a few things left unexplained that will be explained when Prifddinas will be released. Number of times the Dark Lord is fought

Stop revert warring over this please. This silly revert war made me check a video, and I can confirm you do indeed fight him five times, not four. Once at the start of Phase 4, the start of Phase 5, the start of Phase 6, the start of Phase 7 and the start of Phase 8.

From the transcript, here's what he says at the start of each fight, and also what he says at his death. This proves that he is fought five times.

  1. (First fight, phase 4) Lady Ithell: Great Mother Seren! What is that?
    1. Dark Lord: Death! I bring you death! You are alive now - but soon, you will not be alive! Death!
    2. Player: What are you?
    3. Dark Lord I am the Dark Lord. Does that name not tell you all you need to know? You wish to build, to create life, to continue existing. I am that which opposes you! I am the voice in your head as you explore the darkest caves, whispering that you should stay... embrace death... destroy rather than create.
  2. (phase 5) Lord Amlodd: You did it! The light harms it!
    1. Dark Lord: Your efforts are futile. Your death is inevitable!
    2. Player: You seem pretty obsessed with death.
    3. Dark Lord: Death is the place to which all mortals travel. It is the only certainty! It fascinates me. I had not imagined it, before I encountered beings that died. Does it not terrify you to your very soul? How can you live, knowing that you will one day die?
  3. (phase 6) Lady Hefin: You know you can't win, Dark Lord. My predecessors designed the Temple of Light to contain you. We will contain you again.
    1. Dark Lord: Those who built the Temple of Light are dead, while I remain! Death will always defeat life!
    2. Player:' Lady Hefin, you know what it is?
    3. Lady Hefin: A darkness about which Seren warned our ancestors when she shattered herself at the end of the God Wars. It dwells beneath the mountains, attracted to the power of the Death altar. One of my predecessors designed the Temple to contain that darkness, and the other clans helped us to build it.
    4. Dark Lord: You cannot contain death! You can delay it, with your machines or your potions or your magic, but it will come for you! I will come for you!
  4. (phase 7) Lady Meilyr: You're winning, Player! It's getting weaker!
    1. Dark Lord: I must have more power. Lord Iorwerth!
    2. Lord Iorwerth: What's happening? Great Dark Lord! You are here! What do you want of me?
    3. Dark Lord: I want the power of your death!
    4. Lord Iorwerth: Aaaargh!
    5. Dark Lord: Yes... the death of an elf clan leader is powerful.
    6. Player: Seriously, what's with your death obsession?
    7. Dark Lord: I am immortal! My creator and my sibling were immortal. For aeons, I did not imagine that life could end... I found the elves in their forest world. I watched them live, and then... I watched them die! Death was a terrible, fascinating, alien thing! It caused the elves distress... and yet their poets claimed it added meaning to their lives. I did not have that distress, or that meaning. I gave the elves magic, and I tried to make them live longer. I stretched their lives from decades to centuries - but they always died!
    8. Lady Meilyr: You didn't give us magic! It was Seren, the goddess of light and life!
    9. Dark Lord: It was Seren! It was I!
  5. (phase 8, final fight) Dark Lord: I am the creator of the elves! I taught you magic and brought you to this world! You cannot destroy me!
    1. Lord Crwys: You lie! It was Seren who brought us to this world!
    2. Player: The Dark Lord is Seren?
    3. Dark Lord: I was a part of her! She case me out! In the God Wars I saw billions die. I could not leave my elves like the other gods left their races. I shattered myself into crystals to remain with them. But I was at war with myself. The rest of Seren banished the part of her fascinated by death - the part you see now. I found solace beneath the mountains, in the Death Altar - and then I was trapped by the Temple of Light. I wanted to reach out to my followers, to see them live and die, to be part of the tools and weapons that they sang. I spoke to the minds of those who walked the Underground Pass. I shared my fascination with death with them. I asked them only to provide new, more interesting deaths for me to observe. Lord Iorwerth would have been my greatest ally. He provided me with so many deaths... and now his own, and that of King Lathas. Lord Iorwerth and King Lathas are both dead! I devoured their souls to gain the power to manifest here! The soul of a king is a rare delicacy! But your soul, hero, will be a rarer delicacy still! Prepare to be my finest feast!
  6. (end of phase 8, death) Dark Lord: No! I cannot die!
    1. Arianwyn: You did it, Player! The Dark Lord is dead!
    2. Iestin Edern: You've empowered the Seal of Seren. The clan leaders can sing the city into shape as it grows.

Now stop arguing over a number please. Adventurer's log Wahisietel (Talk) Quest map icon.png 15:30, August 17, 2014 (UTC)

Dark Lord Strategy

When I started the boss battles (in early 2015), I tried hiding behind the light emitting platforrm and I kept seeing text messages that said the Dark Lord has summoned a shadow. This happened whenever I hid behind the platform.

If this still happens, this might not be recommended since the player will take damage from neaby shadows when killing the Dark Lord and killing shadows.

I have finished the quest so I can't confirm if this still happens. Feenix Libra (talk) 20:41, February 1, 2016 (UTC)

Time Taken
