Object name[]

The object in Lumbridge Castle is called a "Cooking range", not simply "range". It may be that these objects have names that vary from place to place. Leevclarke 16:50, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Range vs Fire[]

I always cook Swordfish over a fire. I usually burn 6-7, which is also the max I ever burn. I used a range and burnt 12, I have never burned 12 before. Dsctatom 18:16, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Lumbridge Castle Research[]

Is anyone who has a load of cooking to do interested in keeping a burn-log to see exactly how much the castle range improves the rate? I tried cooking 100 swordfish and 100 sharks on both the Lumbridge castle range and a control range (the fishing guild), at 84 cooking, with no gauntlets or boosts:

  • Guild range: 1/100 swordfish burnt; 25/100 sharks burnt
  • Lumbridge range: 4/100 swordfish burnt; 26/100 sharks burnt

Obviously this doesn't show any improvement in the burn rate, but they are small numbers. Add to this if you're cooking!

I agree that some chart to study approximate burn rates would be very usefull. If you're handy with charts, I suggest you start one something like this one which I've made using real data that I collected.

Food type Burn rate level Cooking gauntlets
Monkfish 35/380 82 yes
Monkfish 64/1920 83 yes
Monkfish 7/400 84 yes
Shark 17/140 84 yes

This is data from 2700 Monkfish and 140 sharks cooked on the lumbrige cooking range. As you can see, the burn rate decreased significantly as I leveled up cooking the monks, from about 10% at lvl 82, to about 2% at lvl 84. More contributions to this should give us more accurate figures for the burn rates on the cooking range, which we can then compare to those of ordinary ranges, which I assume data has already been collected for elsewhere, seeing as we know where burn rates become 0.Quest point capeSk8r dan man Quests 04:43, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

Sulphur Vents[]

Sulphur Vents burns all potatoes and thus does not classify as a range.

Lumbridge Cooking Range[]

Although many guides seem to imply that the Lumbridge range will lower the burn rate of all foods, this does not seem to be the case. If you get the Cook-O-Matic 25 Manual from the cook, it lists, "Foods benefitting from the Burn-u-less (tm) technology". These are listed as "bread, redberrry and meat pies, stew, meat, chicken and turkey, crayfish, shrimps, anchovies, sardine, herring, trout, pike, salmon, cake." Lobsters, swordfish, and others are not included. I think the test shown here, the manual's list, and my own experience shows there is no burn-rate advantage to this range for foods not listed in the manual as being covered.
