Two Lists

Seeing as we can never really confirm if an item is or is not on the rare drop table, I decided to split the list into a "Confirmed" and "Likely" list. Obviously the Likely list is much more lenient in terms of what we can put on it, so go ahead and add a lot more stuff to it everyone XD. Though please make sure at least several monsters drop the item before adding it.Anincent 12:22, June 22, 2010 (UTC)

Deserves a Separate Page?

I don't think this should have it's own page... it's not a tangible thing, it's Jagex's coding. If anything it should be located at the Ring of Wealth article. Yes, I highly suggest it gets moved there Concerned User:Lil diriz 77/Signatures 01:34, February 2, 2010 (UTC)

Theres a lot of pages about non-tangible things. I think it deserves a seperate page because it is seperate from the RoW and could make a good reference in various monster pages. It's not a mechanic of the RoW after all, it exists outside of the ring. It does need completing though, but I'm not sure what other Rune/Dragon items might be on it. I tried looking at various monsters who have the rare drop table but the drops weren't completely consistent and I didn't want to guess wrong.

Cheese KaBob799 03:54, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

I completely agree with Kabob799, this Rare Drop Table is a game mechanic of it's own, separate from the Ring of Wealth, so it deserves it's own page. Only some monsters give access to the Rare Drop Table, but the moment we know that it does drop from the rare drop table, we immediately know a lot about what the monster will drop due to a page like this. Also I would suggest making a change to the entire Wiki in regards to monster pages, an additional 'tidbit' on the side stating whether or not a monster does give access to the Rare Drop Table. Something like this would tell players if they would benefit from the RoW because, as the description implies, the RoW is actually useless on some monsters (monsters which do not drop from the Rare Drop Table). In fact, a huge revolution of the Wiki is necessary in light of the knowledge of the Rare Drop Table, since listing items such as Half Keys, Uncut gems, etc. is redundant the moment we know a monster does drop from the Rare Drop Table.--Anincent 06:32, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

This is NOT the Ring of Wealth Article

I notice there have been several edits adding information about the Ring of Wealth on this page. That is not what this article is about. I've removed mentions of the Ring of Wealth that are not related to the Rare Drop Table. In particular is the statement that the Ring of Wealth affects Charm drops; that has no relevance to the Rare Drop Table. Charms are on a seperate table, made clear by the fact that most monsters will drop three things the majority of the time if a charm drops: a 100% drop, a charm and a normal drop. If Charms were in the Rare Drop Table then it should be a very common occurance that a monster will drop two stacks of items from the rare drop table in one kill (ie. Bones, an Uncut Sapphire AND a Half Key from one kill), or two stacks of charms (ie. Bones, 3 Blue Charms, 3 Blue Charms) which does not occur, thus showing that charms are in fact not in the Rare Drop Table. This would lead to the conclusion that the Ring of Wealth does not affect charm drops, but that's really a seperate issue NOT related to this article.60.240.242.167 10:05, March 7, 2010 (UTC)

Monster List

I'm not sure if this is allowed but I added the monster list from the article: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Shield_left_half To this page, as I believe it's more relevant here than it is there. If this isn't allowed then it wouldn't have wasted a lot of my time if it's removed.--Anincent 07:11, February 3, 2010 (UTC) Since the half shield is actually part of the rare drop list, the monsters should be included.XXstaticXX 19:18, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

Monster Organization

I would say we should organize the monsters on whether they are slayer monsters or not, and in combat levels, instead of alphabetically.XXstaticXX 19:02, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

Dragon med

Is the dragon med helm really on the rare drop table? Cheese KaBob799 20:55, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

It certainly seems so to me. It's dropped by a wide range of monsters and is a really rare drop. If you truly believe that it's not so, then by all means go ahead and remove it. Tokkul detail Inhaps talk 22:52, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

Yes it is. Even though it isn't worth much it is still a rare drop.Nundinae 22:02, March 28, 2010 (UTC)

Clarification

I have compared wikia's listed drop for several low-level monsters that are on the table (Able to tell by shield half) and came up with the following list:

  • Shield Left Half
  • Dragon Spear
  • Rune Spear
  • 5 Rune Javelin
  • Loop Half of a Key
  • Tooth Half of a Key
  • Uncut Diamond
  • Uncut Ruby
  • Uncut Emerald
  • Uncut Sapphire
  • Chaos Talisman
  • Nature Talisman
  • Coins

Rune Spear is found on every monster that drop dragon spear or shield half and jagex did say rune items were on it. Rune javelin is found on 90% of the monsters and I assume the other monsters just haven't had a confirmed drop yet. Coins are all monsters lists, so not sure if they are related to the rare drop table at all. Chaos and Nature Talismans seem to be dropped by all monsters with the rare drop table. Some list only one of the two, which I believe is just due to lack of confirmation. So I would say it is safe to add Rune Spear and 5 Rune Javelins, the others are still not confirmed due to inconstancies. Either way, I'm glad someone took my suggestion to make it (or thought of it on their own =P).

Edit: Oh, and Cockatrice are on the drop table =PBio 05:49, February 14, 2010 (UTC)

What about 20 addy javs, 42 rune arrows, 150 steel arrows, 100 silver ore, 67 nature runes, 45 law runes, cut dragonstones, dragon meds, rune sq shield, rune kiteshield, rune 2h swords, rune battlaxes, runite bar, cosmic talismans and nothing drops? And I don't think coins are part of the rare drop table since almost all monsters drop coins and not all of those monsters have the rare drop table.
Sorry for all the edits but i kept thinking of more that are probably on the list too.
Starkiller58 21:53, February 20, 2010 (UTC)

should vyre corpse/vyrewatch be on this list?

Vyre corpse cremation rewards include everything in the rare drop table currently. I know they technically don't drop anything, or get affected by the RoW, but it might be worth noting. Rune Full Helm?

Should Rune Full Helm be on the list? It's dropped by a wide variety of monsters Purepout 10:28, March 20, 2010 (UTC)

  • Rune Full Helm does NOT seem to be on the drop table, since not all droppers give it. Just check the lower level droppers, if they don't give item they it isn't on it. I am pretty sure Cockatrice should be on the list. Also, Rune 2H Sword and Dragonstone are NOT on the drop table. Neither Jellies or Pyrefiends can drop them, and those are just 2 I picked at random. I'm sure you'll see the same thing for some of the other dropper. Chaos Talisman still may be part of it, and it certainly fits nature of the talisman too. Bio 19:27, June 15, 2010 (UTC)

Few Additions

Cockatrice should be listed. They drop all the Rare Drop Table Items, so it seems fair to say they belong on list. After all, they were one of monsters I used to figure out the items on the list!

Besides Cocaktrice, there are 2 items that should be added. As mentioned several times before, Chaos Talisman seems to be a Rare Drop Table Items. It is in most of the monsters Drop section and fits the randomness of the drop table nicely.

Besides this, I think the new Ancient Effigies may be from the rare drop table. Jagex did make a comment before about how they considered improving ring of wealth since it isn’t that useful, getting Ancient Effigies sure is useful. Higher Combat monsters have higher Rare Drop Table Rates, so that applies to it as well. The only real way to prove this would be to do many comparisons to Effigy droppers and list of known/suspected Rare Drop Table monsters. If there are some that drop Effigies but not Rare Drop Table, it may be ones we missed from Rare Drop Table list even! Bio 23:48, June 15, 2010 (UTC)

Cockatrice drop half keys, so that confirms that they do drop from the rare drop table. I'll go ahead and add it. If you see any monster that drops a half key that is not on the list then you should add it.
In regards to the items found on the Rare Drop Table, no one can tell for sure what is or what is not on it (besides the ones confirmed by Jagex, being half keys, gems and the left shield half), we can only guess; even if we kill millions of every single monster in the game, and get comprehensive drop tables. The main reason being that it's possible Jagex assign a 0% probability for a particular item on the table for some monsters, and so some monsters might not drop that particular item even if it is on the rare drop table. This seems very likely since a lot of monsters drop 100 noted Silver ores (to name a few: Fire giants, General Graardor, Kalphite Guardians, Dark Beasts, Iron Dragons, Dagganoth Rex, Abyssal Demons) hinting that it may be on the rare drop table, however it seems lower leveled monsters do not drop 100 noted Silver ores. With this in mind, pretty much any item could be on the rare drop table.
Also, I seem to recall a Jagex moderator confirming that the drop rate of the starved ancient effigy is not affected by the Ring of Wealth. This would confirm that the ancient effigies are not on the rare drop table, although I can't seem to find the post anymore.Anincent 11:49, June 22, 2010 (UTC)

Goblins?

In RS KB it says "The rare drop table is shared between a variety of NPCs - e.g. goblins, fire giants, most Slayer creatures. A good way to tell is that if an NPC is known to drop a half key, then it will drop other items from the rare drop table."

But goblins doesn't seem to drop half keys

Link: http://www.runescape.com/kbase/guid/magic_non_combat_magic

MU7C Ronaldo 05:11, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

A monster doesn't have to drop every item on the rare drop table to be a candidate. As I mentioned in the previous section (above), Jagex may have assigned a 0% probability of dropping for some item for some monsters, but that particular item still counts as being on the monster's drop table. This possibility is evidenced by the following quotation (in the knowledge base): "The ring of wealth comes into play whenever you are rolling on the rare drop table, its ability effectively removing most of the empty slots, drastically increasing your chances of receiving an item from the rare drop table. The actual percentage increase differs between NPCs." which implies the the drop rates while rolling in the rare drop table is different for different monsters.

This is also the reason why it is literally impossible for us to determine conclusively which monsters give access to the rare drop table, and also what items are on the rare drop table.Anincent 12:57, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

rare drop table updated

someone really should spruce this article up since the new ROW update changed the rare drop table a bit

~These are some new 'rare drop table' items I have recieved while doing a dark beast task:

  • 500 big bones (noted)
  • 200 battlestaffs (noted)
  • 200 adamant bolts
  • dragonstone (uncut) [not the cut version that is also a drop]
  • dragon dagger
Yes, I'm thinking all these insane drops from everything are actually additions to the RDT. Didn't jagex say one day they'd use up the blank spots for new items? Perhaps that's what they did. Adding possibly the above, and the 4K yew logs, 100 runite ore, 2K coal, 80(ish) torstol, multiple high-level tree seeds, and possibly the vecna skull. Adding Rare drop table to creatures drop tables

If we're going to remove all the new rare drop table drops from the creatures' drop tables, why aren't we also removing the old such as 100 noted silver ore, gems and key halves?
If it's possible, I suggest making a Rare Drop Table template that we can insert onto the creatures pages. Law rune Samberen Nature rune 12:40, March 17, 2011 (UTC)

This idea really should be considered. If a monster lists uncut gems/silver ore/etc. AND rare drop table, which also has those drops, is there really any point? Remove standard gem drops, half keys, related dragon items and such from monsters' drop tables and instead have the Rare drop table? Should we do this? Godel 23:56, March 29, 2011 (UTC)

2500 sara brew (3) drop is true. 68.177.66.209 20:04, March 19, 2011 (UTC)

Why was the Uncut Onyx removed from the table?

If there weren't drops like 2500 sara brews, then there wouldn't be much incentive to purposely go out hunting monsters that from the rare drop table, and i certainly wouldn't have a ring of wealth in my bank. Anyways, the sara brew drop is a very rare drop in a drop table that is rare already, so it's extremely rare to get one. Dragon claw Candle Max Dragon platebody 11:19, July 17, 2011 (UTC)

Bringing Some Light

I just wanted to point out that the new drops are all part of the rare drop table, and should be added. The only exception to this is the Vecna skull, which can only be obtained while using the Ring of wealth. 173.248.242.95 20:03, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

If you'll direct your attention to this question in the Game Update FAQ 15/3/11, you'll see that things such as the Abyssal whip, Granite maul, and any other unique item dropped by monsters who have the Ring of wealth message alert you every kill, are affected by the Ring of wealth.

“What does the message "Your ring of wealth glows more brightly!" actually mean? It happens on every kill so it is completely pointless and does not accomplish the intended purpose of letting us know when it changes something at all.”

Mod Piesche: The message lets you know that the Ring of Wealth has improved your chances for the coming drop. This does mean that it will appear every time when killing monsters that have a chance to drop unique rare items on every kill (such as abyssal demons), but the message does not necessarily mean that the drop you receive is rare.

Mod Mark: We wanted to be very clear on when the ring had a potential effect on the drop since it was the most common question about the ring before this update. You can of course filter this out if you turn your game filter on.

Factual correction

This is my first time doing anything like this on a wiki, so I apologize if I'm doing this wrong, however it appears that you have the "addy ore (noted)" as a ring of wealth drop only, and I seem to have gotten that same drop from cockroach soldiers which is also listed as only dropping 1, unless from the rare drop table. The quantity was 772, and I was not wearing a ring of wealth at the time.

Uncut Dstone

This article is making it seem like it's near-exclusive to the row. I have gotten two uncut dstone drops in the past two days without the row. Dsctatom 01:44, March 25, 2011 (UTC)

Nature runes

Just had a 79 nature rune with RoW from ice strykewyrms which is rather odd since I expected it to be a 67 nature rune drop :| I'm not sure if the RoW changes the 67 nature drop to 79 or if it's a new drop all together. Either way it's a new piece of data to add to the mix.

Ring of wealth "only"

Many (frankly I suspect all drops) in the section Ring of wealth drops are not ring of wealth only. I and many of my friends have had those drops while not wearing a ring of wealth. Can we get these merged up into the above section? Weird gloop @Gaz#7521 19:10, March 26, 2011 (UTC)

Snap Seeds

Today i received a single snap seed drop from Frost Dragons, Since Frosties do not drop Snap seeds or seeds period... i believe its safe to say it's on the RDT. I recieved the, "your RoW shines more Brightly" message, and the seed wasn't accompanied with anything except the bones and a charm, so it had to be the cause of the message. Perhaps this isn't an RDT item that isn't typically noticed because it is a possible drop for so many monsters.

Rune Arrows X 500 are on the rare drop table. I was killing abby demons while wearing the R.O.W and got it as a drop. Idk how to edit that table though. so could someone who knows how to please do it. :)

As this is the first time I have ever gotten souls as a RoW drop, I'm not sure if this is the right category. 3 Watermelon seeds?

While killing Armoured Zombies, my ring of wealth shined and I got 3 watermelon seeds. This wasn't mentioned anywhere under the drop table for the zombies nor the rare drop table page. I'm not very good with wiki so I can't edit it myself, but can someone add in the watermelon seeds to either of those pages? I got 3 but I'm really not sure if you could get more or less.

Dragon Dagger

The single DD drop (from RoW part) isn't noted, as I just got one from Fire Giants, and it wasn't noted.

"Contrary to popular belief, they may be obtained without a ring of wealth; this means these items are not on the rare drop table, as such the rarity is only compared to other drops of the ring of wealth"

If you can get the confirmed rare drop table items without a ring of wealth, then they are not on the rare drop table? The claim leads to a contradiction of the law of noncontradiction.

From personal experience, they DO NOT appear to be part of the rare drop table. Ring of wealth shines when a drop is taken from a drop table it effects. However, I've gotten dragon daggers without it shining. This suggests that they're not on the rare drop table, and instead should be listed in the regular drop table for every monster that drops them (single unnoted) Godel 23:09, April 30, 2011 (UTC)
Pretty sure dragon daggers (single unnoted) are NOT in the rare drop table now. Recieved another drop recently and ring did not shine. Also, for how frequently I was getting it from certain monsters (abby demons, dark beasts), after 5000+ kills of cave crawlers (level 138), I've yet to recieve one. It MAY be on a slayer monster drop table though. Going to remove single unnoted ddagger from the rare drop table and individually add it to monsters which drop it. Godel 01:35, May 8, 2011 (UTC)
I can't understand why there is so much confusion about this. The ROW *improves* your chance of accessing the rare drop table; it does not GRANT access. Therefore, it will not always shine, only when it has specifically helped you received the rare drop. Just as you can receive rare drops without wearing the RoW, you can recieve them while wearing RoW without having been helped by it. This is why it does not always shine when RDT items drop. I have recieved noted sharks from banshees without the ring shining, and I'm sure that's not one of their regular drops. I'm also adding the single, unnoted dd back to the RDT list. I recieved one of these from a kalphite guardian, and I do not believe they dropped them prior to the RDT update, leading me to believe it is a RDT item along with the 50 noted. Chrishankhah 09:05, May 8, 2011 (UTC)
Chrishankhah is pointing out what everyone should have read on the article before coming to the talk page. I get dragon daggers without wearing the ROW. I have also seen coins shine and I have seen battlestaves not shine. This drop is definitely on the table. 24.88.253.204 06:58, May 16, 2011 (UTC)
The items on the rare drop table have a higher chance of dropping when a ring of wealth is worn. That doesn't mean the ring of wealth is needed to get any of the drops. JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 07:06, May 16, 2011 (UTC)
Just wanted to say that it was declared in the Game Update FAQ that the row glows when it has a chance of affecting the drop. Every time the rare drop table is accessed, the ring will help by removing some blanks, and therefore shine. Every kill of something like an abyssal demon will cause it to shine because it affects the chance of a whip. If you get a dragon dagger without it shining, it cannot be on the rdt.

Irony

On some item pages, the rare drop table is "very rare", which I think is funny. It would be like calling a "common drop table" uncommon. Imdill3 13:37, May 12, 2011 (UTC)

Long & Curved Bones?

The last two times I got a long bone drop my ring shined more brightly, yet I don't see long or curved bones (I'd assume if one was on the rare drop table that the other would be) on the rare drop table. I'm not 100% on the guidelines for something to be on the table as I know certain items that are specific to certain monsters (i.e. sigils or abyssal whips, ect) also cause the ring to glow when dropped and obviously don't belong on the list since they are single-monster specific, but since long and curved bones can be dropped my many monsters, maybe they should be added to the list? Although not all monsters that give access to the table can drop the bones, so I don't know whether or not it would warrant being added to the list based on it causing the ring to glow and the fact that it can be dropped from multiple monsters, in spite of the fact that not all monsters that can give access to the RDT can drop the bones.

General rune discussion, i guess. I got roughly 500 runes today from the harpie bugs in one drop. Anyone else get any rune drops not yet on the table? KurosakisTwin 22:00, September 21, 2011 (UTC)

I suck at editing on here but just got 100 runite ore drop from fire giants.

We have that listed already. User:Urbancowgurl777/Signature 18:19, October 7, 2011 (UTC)

ROW says it shines when it WOULD get a clue scroll.

If you already have a clue scroll in your bank you'll get the row glows brighter even though the clue scroll wont show up.

Dragon Dagger Revisited

So yeah, the wealth update has been around a LONG time, and since then, I've only gotten a dragon dagger from a very select few monsters (abby demons, dark beasts, ice wyrms). Would anyone else like to list the monsters they remember FOR SURE that they received a dragon dagger from. I have reason to think that they added dragon dagger as regular loot to a few monsters and it's NOT part of the rare drop table actually. Godel 10:24, December 10, 2011 (UTC)
