Hello. I was directed here through a series of talk page messages and other things, and thought I'd let you know that you really should protect the main page. It's an obvious target for vandals. DoomsDay349 03:20, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

It is protected from unregistered users. The majority of vandals won't bother to take the time to register when they can just vandalize a bunch of random pages anonymously and cause us just as much hassle. Welcome to the Wiki, though. ^^ --Avian Maid 03:28, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Shadowdancer

I'm sorry if this is late or irrelevant, but I was browsing some pages, and I'd REALLY appreciate it if you stopped seeing Shadowdancer as a bad guy. He had his bad days, but I looked into why he was easy to anger and banned half the people who edited here, and I understand a bit more now. If you want the details, I'm ingame a bit more lately, but please, either forget about him, or talk about his good contributions.

I've moved this to the talk page. I don't know what this is about, but I'm fairly sure we don't need to blank the main page for it. Shadowdancer quit this wiki ages ago, so I don't know why you think anyone here is seeing him as a bad guy. Angela ^talk 07:22, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

I can see how it may have been an accident with the HTML comment tags, but check this revision to see that the page was blanked. Angela ^talk 07:59, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Well caught! - looking at the code, the html comment was incorrectly closed and turned everything following into part of the comment. As for Shadowdancer, a good editor, but that doesn't automatically make someone a good admin - He'd probably still be here and contributing if it wasn't for that. You need to add the new update about bank space and galleries to the main page.

Speaking of graphics

• pokes* Hey, RuneScape got the Hunter skill and new graphics for the imps, you might want to update the main page. Don't worry though, it only happened about 10 seconds ago, you've got plenty of time. Speaking of the new graphics...can someone go around and replace the old graphics/animations of the creatures that have been updated with the current graphics? I'd do it myself, but I play on low detail, so my screenshots look awful :P. --Raven110283 10:44, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Portugese RuneScape wiki

Click the link on the main page. It has no articles and has been inactive since August. I don't think we should link to it until it gets some content. 70.64.106.136 22:46, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

The site now has a main page. Please leave the link since it could encourage Portuguese speakers to revive that wiki. It's more likely to stay dead if no one can even find it. Angela ^talk 15:16, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Featured Article / Article of the Month

I've been looking at our main page, and I've come to the realization that having a featured article every month doesn't feature our articles well. With over 2,000 articles, many excellent articles will never be features. Admittedly, we can rule out several hundred articles as stubs or small articles on items, but we have many excellent articles, and there are only twelve months to each year. I think having a featured article every week would not only further advertise the depth of our knowledge base and bring more interesting articles to light, but would bring a bit more change to our main page. --Gangsterls 02:16, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

We barely get enough nominations for one a month let alone one a week. And besides, I was looking around earlier for something new and shiny (that we haven't had before and isn't a quest) and was struggling a bit. The only time we've ever had more than 5 votes for an article of the month was this month (probably cos the readership has gone up). Ohhh I didn't realize articles had to be nominated to be features. Maybe we should improve our location guides and feature some of them? Membership is increasing, and hopefully it will bring more thorough articles and more new articles.

Hi. I happen to have the power to do so. Unfortunately A) I have occasionally been known to need sleep. B) I just stayed up way past my bedtime writing the guide C) The evolution of my third arm is coming along slowly. I can only do so much at one time. I'm not sure, but I think the others might have some of those limitations too. Less so the writing of the guide, but you get the idea. It will happen. Just not by me. I need sleep. Does anyone like the new news thing. We should keep the 3 newest news topics on the template, which goes on the main page if you were wondering, and display a link to the RuneScape:News page. It doesn't say "Main Page" any more

I've just changed monobook.js so that it no longer says "Main Page" on the er, main page. It should give the front page that fresh trimmed look, and a bit more eyeball space. What do we think? (control-f5 to ensure you get the latest .js file) --Eucarya ^Talk 20:59, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
