== Constitution or Hitpoints? ==

  +
Near the bottom, the part about 9 Constitution reads
  +
  +
"Accounts may also have less than 10 Constitution if they were created during [[RuneScape Classic]] and did not level it, this is because the required xp for level 10 was raised for RS2 and therefore characters who had not trained '''Constitution''' in [[RuneScape Classic]] did not have enough xp for level 10."

Should the bolded part actually read '''Hitpoints''', as Constitution technically did not "exist" in RuneScape Classic?

This talk page is for discussing the Skills page.

Revision

I am currently revising the F2P skill guides. All the free skills are listed below. The ones with a strike through them are done, though improvements are welcome.

  • Attack
  • Strength
  • Defence
  • Range
  • Prayer
  • Magic
  • Runecraft
  • HP
  • Crafting
  • Mining
  • Smithing
  • Fishing(very well done if you ask me)
  • Cooking (about 3/4 done)
  • Firemaking
  • Woodcutting

Starting now.--Richard1990 19:59, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

Should we have a 'stat boosting stuff' for each skill, for example, under Strength you'd have 'Strength Potion' and 'Beer', for Smithing it would be 'Dwarven Stout' etc. --Eucarya 16:20, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Certainly. --Richard1990 16:21, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Ok, all had temporary boosts done except for Agility skill which has yet to be written (missed a few of the beers out like Dragon Bitter, but no-one ever uses those) --Eucarya 19:22, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Herblore and Farming are largely complete and I've padded out agility a bit but it still needs a lot of work. --Eucarya 07:51, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Images

Should there be images of the skill icons? I got all 21 of them, I can upload them and put them on this page with their skill. Can I? --Richard1990 21:56, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

Go for it, sounds like a great idea! --Eucarya 07:51, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

So I uploaded the images and put them in, but I don't really like it's looks. I was thinking maybe we could do what tip.it does? --Richard1990 20:05, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Looks ok to me ! --Eucarya 21:10, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Big XP Calculator

I personally don't like the look of the great big fills-up-a-massive-amount-of-space xp calculator. And I don't think many poeple will understand it. -- Carralpha 12:32, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

I'll replace the formula presented with text version, but I don't think it's right. Woodcutting-icon HYEN-ASTE 12:57, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
LaTeX is enabled on these boards? That would make life easier for me nowadays. (P.S. That does indicate flooring, right? Perhaps you should define it, as there are disputed ways of representing the greatest integer function.)24.149.196.78 11:31, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Slayer = a combat skill?

the combat skills section say: "skills that have to do with fighting stuff". in the slayer skill, all you do is fight stuff. so sould it be added to the "combat" skills section? Tesfan 18:09, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

It probably should say "Skills that effect your ability to fight stuff". Excalo 15:29, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

combat guide

already posted a thread on this but does anyone wanna help me with starting up a combat guide i.e. a guide that helps players level their combat at a fast rate Icecube022 15:32, 26 May 2007 (UTC):icecube022

slayer is already a combat skill, if you kill enough u will get a new skill in str, att, or def. for instance i had to kill 101 ice giants. did that and got my combat lvl up 3 times. --- —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.46.19.232 (talk).
Slayer doesn't count as a combat skill because it doesn't affect your combat level. --Andorin (Talk) (Contribs) 23:44, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

New Skills

I have heard many rumors of varying skills that Jagex is working on. Does anyone know if Jagex is working on any new skills, and what they are? Also, is Jagex going to release updates for the current skills? What are some of the things you've heard about new skills? I might have missed the update. It's always an anxious wait to hear from Jagex about new updates. Thanks!

We cannot answer that question because we are not Jagex. And of course over time Jagex will release updates for skills as they have always done. Dragon medium helm! Whaddaya know?Chiafriend12Better than rune!I have 12 friends. 18:19, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Strange trick I've found...

I found that if you get a Skill Lamp, you cna use it on the P2P skills even if you're a free player. I tried this out a few times, and it still seems to work...could we stick it in a trivia section or something? It sounds useful, especially for those who forgot to pay their subscription and it ran out (me). Raven110283 06:46, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Heh, thats what I did to raise my farming back when I wasn't a member but now that I am I....still do it cuz I F***ING HATE FARMING!
Still, Genie lamps don't work, only the antique (red) ones work. File:Expert dragon archer hat.pngDoomedrusher|Talk||Contributions| 17:26, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
That has never worked for me. I have always been f2p, never member. Antique lamps require you to have a level of at least 20, so f2pers who have never been mems wouldn't be able to do this. Excalo 15:33, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
I tried raising a members' skill with a genie lamp (I'm a free player), and it didn't work. Does it with the antique lamp? I didn't think there were any requirements to rub one.

lmao the login 1337 total level thing actually works, I thought it was bs. you have to put your finger on the screen where the skills tab is, logout to lobby, log in again and spam click the interface and that's what your total is for about a second =P Some sanity 17:28, May 16, 2010 (UTC)

Training Guides

I think we should make training guides for the skill. A lot of RS fansites have training guides and I think we need them too. The forums and talk pages always have ppl asking how to level-up a skill. There's a moneymaking guide so why not this? Cheers, Chicken7 >talk 07:44, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Shortcuts in header

I'd like to see links to all the skills at the top of the page, not a big deal I know but I find myself constantly scrolling down to get to the individual links for the skills. Any thoughts?

Well as nobody had any thoughts, I added an alphabetical list of the skills. Gangsterls then removed the changes. Is editing this Wiki just a battle between peoples personal preferences? Or is there some democracy involved?

Did you even look at it? You screwed up the layout of the whole page. Look at that compared to how it looks now. ChristineTalkFlickr 23:38, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Well I did look of course but I did not think of testing it in different screen/window sizes. I'm sorry I jumped to the wrong conclusions and I'll try to do better in the future. Perhaps in the revision comments it could have some explanation why the revision was made? Marzinnia 08:18, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Difficulty

The difficulty placed next to the skills are ugly and have no meaning behind them at all. Each skill can have their difficulty debated on hundreds of things. I suggest that they be removed.

99.145.226.245 05:11, 28 January 2008 (UTC)Malsh

Agreed, skill difficulty is highly subjective. I know that many people would argue that cooking is easier than woodcutting, for example. Skill 05:15, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
This user has added it back again. I think it's agreed that this is a futile effort to try and create this category, so I'm removing it, and going to put a notice to the user. Template:Signatures/Nq2h 18:30, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
i beleave many ppl want to know how hard a skill is to raise, so insted of removing it should be improved and difficulty's revised. it should be general skill difficulty. whiteferrett
There is no way to measure skill difficulty objectively. No matter how much we tinker with the difficulty ratings, it will still be pure opinion. Readers should look at the articles and skill descriptions and decide for themselves how difficult each skill is. Skill 19:43, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
we could have everyone who wants to praticipate rate all the skills how they think they should be ranked and then average all the rating for each skill and use the average skill difficulty rating. Whiteferrett

It won't work. One could argue that summoning is a very easy skill, since "All you do is gather charms and make pouches", while fletching is extremely difficult due to "The need to cut a log first, training woodcutting, and then the need to use a knife in the process of making an unstrung bow, as well as the requirement to pick flax and subsequently spinning it, and finally using the resultant bowstring item on an unstrung bow to gain a mere ten fletching experience." (Of course, it's the other way around, but it serves to illustrate a point)

level Advancing Animation

Does anyone have an updated version of the gaining a skill animation? JimInRS 05:15, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

I don't think we do. We should get one soon, I hope. --Rollback crown Spencer (Talk | Edits | Contribs) 05:13, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
Well the fireworks actually look the same, unless a particular milestone (such as 99 in a skill, a certain total level, or a combat level) is reached. So the current animation isn't too out-of-date, besides using the old graphics. That said, I agree that a new one would be nice. troacctid 05:14, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

do i loose my items in stealing creation that i didnt resive during the mini game?

--68.173.110.213 19:05, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

You cannot take any items into the Stealing Creation minigame, and you leave the minigame with nothing. The out-of-minigame rewards are classed as normal items and are kept or lost according to the items kept on death interface. Weird gloop @Gaz#7521 19:07, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

New Skill section

I believe it is very disorganised. And pretty much the whole section talks about Sailing. It would interest users to list possible skills, but this may go against RS:NOT#CRYSTAL. Opinions? Cheers, Chicken7 >talk 09:33, October 15, 2009 (UTC)

Too many sailing, but it's confirmed it will not be sailing =D, here's a list of player suggested skills on forums:

A list of player suggested skills:

  • Sailing (Confirmed this wouldn't be)
  • Mounting/Riding
  • Music
  • Skinning
  • Gravedigging (Would be strange, there's a random!)
  • Healing
  • Mechanics
  • Pokemon Card Skill (Too strange =D)
  • Crystal Singing (From a quest, really strange)
  • Swimming
  • Runelore
  • Barding (Music?)
  • Engineering (Mechanics?)
  • Luck
  • Sheepshearing (Crafting)
  • Archeology

--Zorak plorak 19:46, November 3, 2009 (UTC)

The closest one of those is barding. If you look on the article it says that the skill will start with b. --Aen47 19:02, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

Two things, 1st off, Zorak Plorak, you forgot Tortise Stacking :) 2nd, it was confirmed by Jagex mods that the mod that said the skill would start with B actually picked a random letter. It could be any letter of the alphabet. Cheers! 72.49.27.34 02:41, November 20, 2009 (UTC)

B for 'Brilliant' - I was wondering if Excl was just pulling our leg and meant the B as in a 'Brilliant Skill' --81.103.177.88 11:48, December 12, 2009 (UTC)

While neither Animal Conversation or Animal Husbandry start with "B", go to the Poison Arrow Pub in south Ardougne, where you bought the "skewered kebab" for 25 coins in the Achievement Diary, and talk to the small furry brown animal in there with the green headgear. The player states that if they had better skill at talking with animals, they could understand this creature (chipmunk, squirrel, grinney, badger, ?). Is this an 'in game' hint? Steelhorse66 18:09, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

Sparky is a squirrel and you can talk to him with 70 summoning. Features already included in the game will hardly become a new skill. If Archeology was the new skill - why did they not wait to release the Temple at Senntisten to include it? Luck cant possibly be a skill begause it cant be traded. Why is Barding lined out and preposterous things like Sheepshearing not? Stormpride 17:02, January 18, 2010 (UTC)

I heard on war of legends that the new skill was revealed to be buccanearing or however its spelled on the high lvl forums. Would anyone in the high lvl forums be able to confirm this? it seems possible, especially considering that I believe a mod has said in a Q&A or something that it will be much better than sailing, and buccanearing would be sailing and more... Guys, I know I'm kinda random but I know for a fact that yes,b arding is armouring horses but also a bard is a person who travels around playing music. -Holden

The new skill could be Necromancy.. It's a combat skill that's never been guessed at before. -MeStarfinder

I disagree with Dungeoneering a minigame

In this article it mentions what types of skills are, e.g. Slayer is a combat skill, Fishing is a resource skill, etc. It says right there that Dungeoneering is a "Minigame Skill." I think that this should be changed, and removed. Dungeoneering is a combat skill. Eaten Alive3 13:03, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
