DDP, DDP++, DDP+, etc.[]

I noticed that many abbreviations related to poison are still on this list, even though poison (as applicable to weapons) no longer exists.  Should these references be removed? Owl N7 (talk) 04:14, December 6, 2012 (UTC)

People still use it so i think it should stay on  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Killers455 (talk) on 04:16, December 14, 2012.
You didn't sign it. And they only use it in '07. EmileWillows (talk) 23:02, November 5, 2013 (UTC)

GF[]

Good fight should be in here because it is refering to the runescape fight. Agent 22135 00:49, July 19, 2010 (UTC)

Its not just RuneScape slang though. People everywhere use it. http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu33/Psycho_Robot/Sigs%20and%20Avatars/kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar 00:51, July 19, 2010 (UTC)
The header states "The Slang dictionary is a list of informal words and expressions that are commonly used in RuneScape." It does not say "The Slang dictionary is a list of informal words and expressions that are only used in RuneScape." At this time, there are four definitions under N: Nat, Nerf, NFS, and NPC. Only Nat is used only in Runescape. In fact, you can't even say the others are used more commonly in Runescape, even though they're also used elsewhere. Should Nerf, NFS, and NPC also be deleted? (That's not a rhetorical question. It's intended to elicit the exact logic being applied here.) There are several examples that could be listed for every subpage, but I picked on N because it's 75% of the content. --Saftzie 02:37, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
Yes they should be deleted. http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu33/Psycho_Robot/Sigs%20and%20Avatars/kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar 02:40, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
And the purpose statement of the dictionary should also be changed to replace "commonly" with "only?" So far the content still only appears to be governed by whim. --Saftzie 02:48, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
I agree with Saftzie, if it's limited to Runescape-specific slang, the definition should be changed.   Chaotic rapier  Jim  Talk  SL Slayer-icon 03:00, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
Ok I will update the description to be more clear. http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu33/Psycho_Robot/Sigs%20and%20Avatars/kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar 03:01, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
You might wanna change [[RuneScape:Slang Dictionary|this]] too.   Chaotic rapier  Jim  Talk  SL Slayer-icon 03:26, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
I think that page is clear enough, do you not agree? http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu33/Psycho_Robot/Sigs%20and%20Avatars/kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar 03:28, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
I think he means something like changing "only slang which directly relates to RuneScape" to "only slang which exclusively relates to RuneScape" (without the bold). Otherwise slang like GF, which does relate directly to Runescape, could be included. I'll make that change now. If I missed the point, it can be updated again. It's a wiki, after all. --Saftzie 06:23, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
That sounds good to me. I'm going to move this conversation to the main talk page though, since it relates to everything. http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu33/Psycho_Robot/Sigs%20and%20Avatars/kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar 06:36, July 21, 2010 (UTC)

"Crashing"[]

I've noticed a lot of Runescape users referring to "crashing", however I do not know what this means. When I came here to look it up, I got no results, but I've seen it in conjunction with Dragon Claws. Halp? Example: "My mate told me to crash him, so I did." and "A bunch of people came in all 130+ and crashed the Dag King." 97.90.66.2 09:34, August 20, 2010 (UTC)

  • Crashing in the economy means that an item is falling in price at a very fast rate maybe 1m a day for expensive items and a few hundred k for non expensive items and does that for a long time before levelling out at its new price several mil cheaper than its price before the crash. Crashing a high levelled monster normally means going in while another party is still fighting it and you use your numbers or better skills/equipment to get the kills forcing the original party to leave. "wtf"[]

Should I put "WTF" and it's meaning in W? just asking. Natvsnat 07:38, November 30, 2010 (UTC)

There was this thread (can't remember which) that we are now supposed to list only RuneScape related slang (like 2h = Two-handed). Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 07:47, November 30, 2010 (UTC)

Then why are things like "np" and "brb" or "afk" in here? i know that those are used in other MMORPGs Natvsnat 01:37, December 4, 2010 (UTC)

Other languages bug?[]

OP[]

Does anyone know what OP mean? I see in the forums sometimes I think it has something to do with free players.

It normally means Original Poster/Opening Poster, as in the person who created the thread. --Small recharge gem AnselaJonla Slayer-icon 02:03, July 27, 2011 (UTC)
It actually normally means overpowered.
It doesn't mean overpowered in forums, in game it would though. AFKeying 02:57, April 25, 2012 (UTC)

nl means no life or no lifer.

BA slang[]

BA slang abbreviations that have been in use for years

A2g or Atg - Attack to go. H2g or Htg - Heal to go. C2g or Ctg - Coll to go. D2g or Dtg - Def to go.

Goml[]

This. I saw it a lot on RuneScape. Why remove it?

Exact same thought. I actually put it there, but neglected to sign in when I did. I see it near exclusively on Runescape, though it is used elsewhere. As previously argued on this talk page, there is plenty of slang listed that is in no way unique to Runescape. Newguy298 (talk) 03:45, October 11, 2012 (UTC)

Well, there's always "get off my lawn", but it's more "get on my level" on RuneScape. Bankstanding at the Grand Exchange should give anyone a taste of what Goml is, tbh.

In fact, I've compiled an alphabetical list of words that don't belong if we follow this criteria.

  • Ammy, Baxe, Blk, B sale, BXP, C'bow, Cball, CC, Crash, DD, DP, Emote, FMod, Helm, Hybrid, Mager, Maxed, Merchanting, Mith, Pl0x, Price Check, Spec, W8, X-bow, Zombs
  • Main offenses:
  • Atk
  • Def
  • F2P/P2P
  • GF
  • Haxor/Hacks (This isn't even ALMOST Runescape exclusive, this is pretty much a meme.)
  • Invy
  • L2 (also meme)
  • MMORPG (Runescape did not invent MMOs.)
  • Noob (a term older than Runescape.)
  • NPC
  • PvP

Not a single one of these terms is Runescape specific. Granted some such as Hybrid take certain connotations under the context of Ruenscape, but the large majority of them do not. Bring back goml, or remove these. Newguy298 (talk) 04:05, October 11, 2012 (UTC)

I have just been made aware of a forum thread about this, which is Forum:Slang dictionary cleanup. The closure statement was that non-RuneScape terms were to stay out of the slang dictionary pages.
Also, I disagree with your labelling for Ammy, Baxe, BXP (unless it is indeed general for MMOs), Cball, CC (as in Clan Chat), the fact that DD has multiple meanings, DP, FMod, Mith. All of the main offences are indeed general MMO stuff.  a proofreader ▸  04:41, October 11, 2012 (UTC)
Wow, I didn't even need to go that far. Slang dictionary/Rules. Sigh.  a proofreader ▸  05:06, October 11, 2012 (UTC)
