Incomplete Quest Requirements[]

According to the BTS February 2013, The Firemaker's Curse is one of the quest requirements to obtain complete rewards, yet is not listed. I will admit, embarassingly, I don't know how to edit the quest requirements on a page, otherwise I would do it myself. If someone could update the page to reflect the complete requirements, it'd be much appreciated. Arialonomus (talk) 08:04, February 2, 2013 (UTC)

Done, for future reference it needs to be added in manually to the Template:Questreq template. Psychemaster (talk) 09:17, February 2, 2013 (UTC)

It said the quests were needed for full rewards, not completion right? I'd suggest adding a bottom line which says 'Additional Rewards'. Kurrygrodan (talk) 15:21, February 2, 2013 (UTC)

I wonder if it'll be structured similarly to Recipe for Disaster, minus getting quest points after each section complete. I'd love for there to be a bit of bonus content that isn't "required" for the cape, but rewards you for having all of the extra. Jagex named me Able Tis (talk) 09:31, February 3, 2013 (UTC)

I'm thinking (and hoping) that it basically will be like Recipe for Disaster, extending the plotline based on what other information you've learned in other quests (other than getting extra quest points for each part. I find it strange that these things aren't already required, though; at the very least Druidic Ritual probably should. Still, maybe its because its supposed to be the first quest in the God Quest Series (as has been mentioned before), hence why its got less real requirements. Rewards[]

Just a quick Question where is it confirmed that drgonite ore is a reward?

all i see in bts is

Rewards include over 800k in XP, new combat abilities for all points of the triangle, a magical ring, new cosmetic torso gear, and access to a brand new Slayer area with targets that drop shiny level 85 gloves and a pet.

Quest Delayed[]

Quest has been delayed. Confirmed by multiple mods.

Okay, okay. Calm the--... First of all, sign your comment. Second of all, no evidence means lies to us. >.>  Protozom Revenant dragon 02:39, February 24, 2013 (UTC)

I've heard that this is actually confirmed, but whatever the case may be I'm really hoping that they surprise us and release it next week anyway. But yeah, there's really not much proof to give; supposedly it was only posted on personal J-MOD twitter accounts and the high level forums. Trolling us, maybe? We'll see next week. Oh, and I made this a separate section, like it SHOULD have been done in the first place. RelmKisaragi (talk) 05:05, February 24, 2013 (UTC)

Sequel to WGS[]

According to BTS #41 (towards the end when they start talking about TWW), this quest is supposedly intended to actually be a proper sequel to While Guthix Sleeps. Should this be reflected in the article? Obviously the start of the quest won't be like that, but once you get through all the extra features unlocked after completing the quest you will definitely need WGS (since ROTM is a requirement). RelmKisaragi (talk) 05:08, February 24, 2013 (UTC)

That seems plausible; the names fit together nicely (e. g., "While Guthix sleeps, the world wakes!") 70.99.104.234 01:40, March 1, 2013 (UTC)

Also, please add in trivia: doing WGS is not a requirement to complete (not fully of course) TWW. This means you actually get to see Guthix killed, but he's still apparently sleeping when you do WGS after.

Update Reqs[]

Update final quest rewards reqs: (Source: news post)

  • 90 Prayer
  • 74 Firemaking
  • 70 Slayer

Kurrygrodan (talk) 15:14, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

The rewards interface say the requirement is 80 prayer. I think the 90 prayer thing is an error on Jagex's part.

41.47.176.208 18:00, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

It might be that 90 Prayer is required to worship at the shrine after the quest is finished. Mod Emilee confirmed that the 90 prayer was correct. Paronomasia (talk) 18:15, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

I've been looking on the forum's official post about the quest and stumbled onto this quote on page 5 about the requirements by Mod Ana:

There is an 80 Prayer requirement on one of the post-quest rewards, as well as a 90 Prayer requirement for another, so you need 90 Prayer to get ALL the rewards. There's no Prayer requirement on the quest itself! Sorry for the confusion.

So 90 prayer is required for ALL of the rewards availableAbyssal vine whip TonyBest100 Bandos chestplate 18:24, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

Runic[]

I've noticed that all the runes that appear on things in this quest are in medeival runic - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medieval_runes -  though I didn't take any screenshots of them. If someone has screenshots, then we can add the following:

  • Guthix's blade striking into the wilderness says "BEHAVE"
  • The sign leading up to Guthix's house during his memory reads "Shelter Available - All Aided"
  • The lettering around Guthix's shrine reads "Balance in all things"

2.98.219.19 19:39, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

The above is not 100% correct. To start, the sword says "BEHAFE". The voiced version has an extra dot added.
The sign on the house has a rune that kind of looks like a lower letter b. I can't find this in Medieval runic script or any related script. It's definitely not "V", so "SHELTER A?AILABLE".
But the shrine at the end is the biggest mystery though, because it seems to be a mix of different alphabets here. We have two options.
  • Using the Medieval expansion of Younger Futhark as we have done until now it spells: "BALANZE ?NALL THINGS".
  • Using the Anglo-saxon Futhorc it spells: "B?L???? K?LL ?IOI??S".
Either way I am not seeing a distinguishable space between the 9th and 10th rune.
And finally the most amazing is the sword as it is depicted in the Origins of Gielinor video, this seems to be using Elder Futhark and transcribes as something like "FHJMUNG".
Although the H and NG are a bit liberally transcribed here, since the former is in mirror image and the latter should not be open ended.
Oh and there is an image of the sword already: File:Sword of Edicts.png

Tips when she heals on you, kick her. And then the healing effect will be undone.

141.134.185.185 20:35, March 4, 2013 (UTC)Sanny

Tips: just dont eat food. Her damage (and healing) is relational to a % of your current health (at least that's how it seemed to me). I won her by quitting eating, and just slammed my way to the end. At the end she was hitting me for 18, I was hitting her for 300+ and vampyrism was healing me for ~20/hit, also healing her ~16 per hit. So yeah. You heal, she heals and damages you. You dont heal, no problem, damage is scaled down so it barely scratches you.

Guardian Assignments[]

Correct order: 1st room: Chaeldar/Thaerisk 2nd room: Cres 3rd room: Death 4th room: Valluta/Fiara --http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/Arasay2/goldstar-1.png Aria Ryuko (Talk) http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a375/Arasay2/miniMint.png 01:42, March 5, 2013 (UTC)

That might be different for each player, I assigned Chaeldar and Thaerisk to the 3rd room and apparently it was one of the optimal choices of guardians. Leave me a message :) Annarelda Hiscores 07:04, March 5, 2013 (UTC)
No, I think its always the same. I think there are four levels of this. You can either assign them to the BEST room, you can assign an OPTIMAL choice, you can assign a not-so-good choice, or you can assign them as THE WORST choice. Speaking of these choices; is Fiara the ONLY one that can die? It'd be interesting to know if anyone knows if any other guardians can possibly die during the quest. To be honest, Fiara is the only one that makes sense because she doesn't particularly play any major roles outside the quest. (Chaelder can probably be replaced fairly easily as well, so I'm trying to figure out if its possible for her to die, but haven't seen anything on it.) RelmKisaragi (talk) 07:55, March 7, 2013 (UTC)

Saradomin's symbol? Or at least, the symbol that is on The Crown and The Staff. We known Saradomin was in the Naragi's world. Very possible that people started to worship him. My contributionsTHARKON 18:20, March 14, 2013 (UTC)

Duplicate Trivia[]

The page is protected at the moment, but there is a duplicate bit of trivia; two entries reference the two bits of text seen during the quest, and the runic writing it is written in. The second one seems to be the more complete. Could someone clean-up? 134.58.179.35 10:40, March 5, 2013 (UTC)

The first piece of trivia refers to the presence of roman numerals in the text; "V" and then "I" which together are rendered "VI", the number 6, which may be a reference to the Sixth Age. I recommend consolidating the two comments with both sets of features. (EDIT: Whenever we have an image available, it'll be easier for everyone to see the text for themselves. Hopefully that will clear the matter up some.) Thanks. 208.83.126.102 14:31, March 5, 2013 (UTC)

Storage Room Assignment[]

Are the symbols for the storage rooms fixed for the enemies coming through? Maybe we could put a table with the symbols and guthixian images for easier solution. But I don't know if the symbols are fixed. Dragon pickaxe Thojohn22 Talk HS Dragon pickaxe 18:14, March 5, 2013 (UTC)

Proving your loyalty to Guthix[]

Haven't edited articles before, apart from a few grammar corrections, so I figured I'd ask before I fumbled around with it. So, would anyone mind if I added my notes on the different choices and what they add to the balance bars, you know, Chaos, Order, Good and Evil in the Proving your loyalty to Guthix-part, with the "Strange Map" and multiple choices concerning the naragi? And I'm not sure if my signature was correctly done. : p

They're in a format like this:

"You find a world without balance. Chaos triumphs and violence is rife.
The naragi - inhabitants of this world - fight over limited resources.

What is your first action to bring balance?

Give the Naragi rules to follow to live in peace.                25% Order and Good
Introduce more resources.                                             25% Chaos and Good
Impose rules on the naragi, smiting those who disobey.   25% Order and Evil
Give the naragi knowledge to advance their weapons.       25% Chaos and Evil"

Juna[]

If you have completed both this quest and The Chosen Commander and you talk to Juna about Zanik and Bandos, she still acts as if 1. Guthix is still alive (he isn't), and 2. it's terrible that you "betrayed the gods" by preventing Bandos' return (despite the fact that we now know that Guthix hated all the gods and wanted a world free from being influenced by any of them, including himself, which is why he let himself die). Jagex sure has a lot of storyline-correcting to do since this new lore messed up a lot of the existing continuities. 70.99.104.234 03:18, March 6, 2013 (UTC)

The existing continuities haven't been messed up at all. All quests that are part of the "extra rewards" for The World Wakes CANONICALLY take place before The World Wakes. It doesn't MATTER what order you do them in (heck, technically, every quest takes place before TWW). The only reason TWW doesn't require them is because it literally changes the entire face of Runescape for all future content updates, not just quests. Future quests will go back to having full requirements. RelmKisaragi (talk) 07:50, March 7, 2013 (UTC)

Actually, Jagex stated future quests may not have those quests as requirements, since those are assumed to be in the past already, and now all have disclaimers stating that they are flashbacks or something. This opens up opportunities for novice quests that happen after the RotM. However, this is irrelevant to the story, since quests requirements are merely a game mechanic. It is true that the dialogue from Juna about Bandos exists before completion of TWW. However, it is not part of the quest and doesn't have the disclaimer about it being in the past that the quest has, so it should reflect the current state of events. On the other side, while Guthix told us that he wanted a world without gods, not even himself, we have to remember that he told us that, he did not tell Juna. My contributionsTHARKON 18:49, March 14, 2013 (UTC)

Length[]

I just did this quest in about an hour and a half (I also read all of the dialogue). Last I checked: that wasn't "very, very long." Was this a trolling by Jagex or is that based on a level 140 failing each task a dozen times? Dsctatom (talk) 07:25, March 6, 2013 (UTC)

I agree with the original post. There is not any way possible that The World Wakes can be considered either a "very, very long" or a "very long" quest (especially when you compare the length of The World Wakes to some of the other Runescape quests). Do we want our wiki to be objective (in which case we change the quest length to "long")? Or do we want our wiki to follow the branding designated by Jagex (keep quest length as "very, very long", when it isn't)? Umopapisdn (talk) 19:32, March 6, 2013 (UTC)

The wiki currently lists the official length (very, very long) and what the wiki has decided (medium-long). So I don't see any problem there since the official length being shown is just stating facts (fact being that Jagex designated that as such), while the wiki's length is stating what it actually is. So I don't have a problem with what the wiki is currently saying, but rather was just wondering if anyone has seen any word from Jagex on why they don't know how long their own quest is.
It has long since been tradition that Jagex comes up with a length for a quest and the players determine what the real length is (usually one notch or so down). But this time: there's no excuse for how off they are with this estimate. Dsctatom (talk) 01:33, March 7, 2013 (UTC)
I definitely don't think it should be categorized as Very, Very Long. But its definitely a fairly Long quest. RelmKisaragi (talk) 07:57, March 7, 2013 (UTC)

Continuity issues[]

Apparently, if you do The World Wakes before any of the other quests that preceded it chronologically (such as Ritual, Firemaker's Curse, etc.), you will get a message saying something like "the events in this quest have already taken place in the past". I haven't had this happen to me as I already had a quest cape before I did TWW, but other players have had this happen to them. 146.57.249.82 18:57, March 6, 2013 (UTC)

This was stated in one of this week's update FAQs on the runescape forum. The message should appear before any of the quest that happened 'in the past', now that RuneScape has permanently entered the Sixth Age. 134.58.179.35 06:47, March 7, 2013 (UTC)
There are no continuity issues with the quest. Actually, its very good continuity-wise and really expands on the stories of prior quests. The only issue is that other players do not have to play the quests. But to be honest, the quest doesn't really revolve around what happened in past quests at all. The characters appear, of course, but spoilers from past quests are not addressed in detail at all, and the only "odd" thing out is with the player knowing who Sliske is. And at every point in the quest players are given the option of asking who all the characters are, even if certain characters require high level quests (such as Thaerisk or Valluta). The Staff of Armadyl is often brought up as being a continuity issue, but its not an issue either; in fact its been stated in the past that if the shaft of the staff could be retrieved the staff could be reformed. And Sliske did just that. How he did will be a MAJOR focal point in a future quest. Undoubtedly that quest would also explore more about the Dragonkin. RelmKisaragi (talk) 10:30, March 7, 2013 (UTC)

Fireballs[]

After being roasted by Nex's fireballs a few times, I made a mage log bonfire, ate a couple of rocktails, grabbed my dragonfire shield quaffed super defence and anti-fire pots and made it with 2/3 of my (10,418) health intact. I have no idea if the antifire helped, but it looked like I was getting hit for less. Some braver soul may wish to experiment. Rich Farmbrough, 21:27 8 March 2013 (UTC).

Anchor symbol[]

Nex's earrings are the same symbol as the one on the dead god creature's chestplate on Guthix's homeworld. I don't know what to make of it, but it's interesting. Phoenixjo (talk) 22:58, March 8, 2013 (UTC)

They are similar indeed, but so is the symbol on our Captain's log, it's not a rare or custom symbol after all. My contributionsTHARKON 18:51, March 14, 2013 (UTC)

Collect additional rewards afterwards?[]

I'm wondering whether to do this quest.  If I don't have the requirements for total completion, can I claim the addition rewards when I have the levels?  Or will the rewards be unavailable if I can't claim them at the time of the quest?71.169.139.158 01:43, November 12, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, you can do it.. you can collect rewards later on. This is the case with every quest that has additional rewards and requirements - you can comeback later... although, you may miss out on seeing some NPCs and (maybe) some dialogue.
