Untitled[]

Very high level people wielding two warhammers at once have been spotted in the fight pit (go down twice from the volcano to get near it).

How do they manage to wield two weapons??

The double warhammer would appear to be Torag's hammers, part of a Barrows armour set - apparently, all Barrows weapons are two handed.

Weapon comparison charts[]

It'd be handy to have a matrix showing the various stats of different weapons side by side, or at least some discussion about how different weapons perform against different foes.

When you want to level fighting skills, you want to go for the weapon that'll give you the best hourly accumulated damage. With standard weapons, I have an idea that scimitars are good, their speed making up for the lower strength bonus... Drevicko 05:15, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Sometimes, the sheer power of two handed swords lures a player into thinking that they will get more xp faster with them: these players are wrong. 2 handed swords are extremely cumbersome and are twice as slow as a scimitar. Therfore, if a player maxed out with a 2h at, say about 20 damage, the person with the scimitar could easily hit a 12 and a 13, thus earning more xp per hour.

Own pages?[]

Should each weapon have it's own page? For example, in Bronze weapons, there should be links to Bronze dagger, Bronze longsword, etc.? --Richard1990 21:07, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

I talked abit to Oddlyoko about that, and he agrees with me that we should have separate pages that redirect to the main page. For example, "Bronze dagger" would redirect to "Bronze weapons#Bronze Dagger". Fetttson 21:57, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

I was thinking like this:
Bronze weapons
link to bronze dagger
link to bronze sword
etc. Well I'm gonna go on ahead and do that. --Richard1990 00:30, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

Is it OK if each weapon type has it's own page? Like, dagger would have it's own, sword would have it's own, etc. I think it'd be good. --Richard1990 20:04, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

I think each type having its own page would be a good idea. Swords have more in common than bronze weapons. It would be easy to have a chart with all the stats of the different types of metal that that kind of weapon could be made of

I was thinking more like the swords page would say what advantage a sword has in combat, it's speed, etc. Also, I was thinking of maybe adding ranged weapons and magic weapons. --Richard1990 00:05, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Ranged[]

Why are not ranged items included on this page? Surely bows are weapons, too? --Paania 21:52, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Yup. Same with staves, barrows weapons, etc. I was gonna put them in but forgot.--Richard1990 22:44, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Staves[]

This is for future reference. From Wikipedia:

A staff is a large, thick stick or stick-shaped object used to help with walking or as a status symbol or a weapon. An older plural form of staff, based on the archaic variant word stave, is staves. In American English the usual plural form has become staffs, however British and International English regard both as acceptable and "staves" as preferred.

Thus, we use Staves; British English. :) JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 19:32, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Warhammer isn't stronger...[]

I compared the warhammer and battleaxe side-by-side, and although the warhammer is more accurate in the crushing style, its strength bonus is lower than the battleaxe. So why is the battleaxe listed as "weaker" than the warhammer? White partyhatCh1lled SocksWhite partyhat 13:13, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

I don't have a clue what the attack bonus actually refers to, since it's blatantly not accuracy (Maces are agonizingly inacurrate despite being average in attack bonus, or at least better than the more-accurate dagger). That's why it's listed as stronger. Change it if you like. JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 17:41, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Weapon power[]

Rune longsword, a medium-powered weapon: {{Template:Infobox_Bonuses| | astab = +38 | aslash = +47 | acrush = -2 | amagic = 0 | arange = 0 | dstab = 0 | dslash = +3 | dcrush = +2 | dmagic = 0 | drange = 0 | str = +49 | prayer = 0 | aspeed = 5 |}} Rune claws, which is weaker than medium-powered: {{Template:Infobox_Bonuses| | astab = +26 | aslash = +38 | acrush = -4 | amagic = 0 | arange = 0 | dstab = +10 | dslash = +19 | dcrush = +5 | dmagic = 0 | drange = 0 | str = +39 | prayer = 0 | aspeed = 6 |}}

The claws should be labeled "weak"

Salamanders[]

I'd like to see some more information on salamanders, like are all attacks based on magic? (I've always assumed they were, because all of the animations look alike- a blast of fire)
Also, all of the combat spells have preset max hits, do salamanders have preset max hits, because they can attack with magic?
Most importantly, I'd like to know if the max hit formula applies to salamanders, or what the max hits are. --Base metal 21:04, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Weird Weapon?????[]

I saw a person weilding a Hand with a long pole attatched to it with 2 hands. WHat the heck is that!! 68.51.252.68 19:14, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

That's a giant hand. WWTDD? 19:15, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
lol i have a giant hand in my bank. Dont ask me why. Dragon scimitar Candle Max Dragon claw 11:57, June 26, 2011 (UTC)

attack speed[]

daggers, scimitars, swords, and claws all have the same attack speed (at least according to the game guide). All of the notes for these seem to disagree with this- Elvenchakra 17:22, November 3, 2010 (UTC)

Attack speed actually no longer factors into combat in runescape after the animation reworks. It used to matter, but now that combat in runescape is more turn based, it doesnt matter if you're weilding a godsword or a dragon dagger, all combat follows the hit/block/hit pattern, so there's no longer an advantage to using a "faster" weapon.99.8.202.125 15:14, October 27, 2012 (UTC)

General cleanup[]

I'd like to start with this:

"It has been reported that while doing the Knight's Training ground mini-quest (unlocked upon completion of the "King's Ransom" quest), the salamanders are not registered as a melee weapon, even while on the melee setting (This is relevant because you are permitted only to use melee weapons while in the training grounds)."

Which is completely irrelevant to an article related to all weapon types in general, rather than an article focused on the salamanders. I find this would fit much better on the black, green, orange and red salamander pages, in the trivia section. I will move this remark to the said pages.

Next to the salamanders section, there is an animation of the dwarf multi cannon completely misplaced. The multi cannon is only referenced once in the whole page, much earlier in the article. It should be removed/placed somewhere else.

I disbelieve that there should be two sections for magic, one for F2P and another for P2P. Wouldn't it be easier to add the (m) next to members staves? Further more, the ranged section is divided into four sections. Shouldn't we merge F2P, P2P, "Miscellaneous" and Throwing Weapons into a single ranged section?

Miscellaneous includes: Holy water (which could fall under the Quest-related weapons; scratch that, it DID fall under Quest related and miscellaneous), crossbows (which are much more used than bows) and composite bows. Did I mention that composite bows are on the bows table as well?

Again, on throwing weapons sub-topic we find "Miscellaneous" again, without the holy water. What should I do about the Holy water, include it on both throwing and quest?

On "Other melee weapons", we have an introduction text:

"Members have access to more powerful weapons than the basic ones. However, because of their power, they are much more expensive than the basic weapons."

Which is completely incoherent with the list below it. The list includes "Wooden sword" and the "Training sword" which are not even P2P exclusive. It also includes "Goliath gloves", "Chaotic longsword", "Void knight mace", "Fremennik blade" and the "Decorative sword": NONE of these can be obtained with coins, so how can they be "more expensive than basic weapons"? Couldn't "Quest weapons, fun weapons and blackjacks", "Other melee weapon types" and "Salamanders" in their special section in this merge?

Plus, shouldn't "Basic weapons” be renamed to "Melee weapons"? It is quite confusing.

Smaller edits:

"Member magic weapons" should be renamed to "Members-only magic weapons" if no merge happens, as it only includes P2P weapons than F2P+P2P weapons.

"The ranged and magic tutors can be found at Lumbridge, in a sort of training centre, north of the General Store (marked by an empty flour pot on the mini-map.)

Because of the time limit of 30 minutes, when your Ranged level gets higher, it is wasting your time waiting for the 30 minutes to be up, so you can get more bronze Arrows. At around Level 5 Ranged it would pay to switch to the Oak shortbow with Iron arrows."

The information given is THREE YEARS dated, plus, training methods do not belong to this page.

"Can be bought from any Slayer Master, used to kill Turoths and Kurask, and can't be traded." Under the listing of "Locations", I don't think that the arrows' usage is necessary, or in place. Broad arrows can be used to kill other NPCs other than Turoths and kurasks, making this extra information even less relevant. A section for arrows strength could be added as well. Plus a lot of missing spaces and few more small errors.

Finally, this page is missing the combat beta tag. (Which I unknow how to do)

Editing as of the posting of this message.

Which is better?[]

Hey guys,

I am really interested in finding out a better weapon. So far, for the last couple of weeks I've been using a spider orb and wand, I use it for pretty much everything I do. But I have been wondering if I should go back to my mithril 2h sword instead.. I of course have the full mithril armour set, but just don't know what to do. My brother a few weeks back, traded me his rune amour, dragon amour, coins, swords and such. So what do you guys think??

Weapon pages[]

Ranged weapons exists, but Melee weapons and Magic weapons just redirect here.... why don't they have their own pages, or at least subpages (+move Ranged weapons to Weapons/Ranged)? Star Talk ayy lmao ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) 00:07, June 26, 2015 (UTC)
