Is this guy or Solus Dellagar more powerful?

Im confused........

I dont get it. Why would the wise old man rob the draynor village bank? He believes in saradomin, but still, why did he rob the bank?--Pkthis 20:47, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

We don't know yet. :| Oddlyoko talk 20:51, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
He is a beleiver of Saradomins but that does not make him preistly or saint-like. The reason why he robbed the bank was because he is short of money. Even more was that he claimed to have saved people and villages and slain and vanquished terrible creatures (or at least that is what he claimed if u talk to him after you views his telescope at the second floor of his house). He also felt that he deserves something more than than the life he is experiencing before he robbed the bank (which he said was misserable and broke). Pushed to the corner and not getting the fortune or recognition he felt that he deserved, he robbed the bank (and perhaps got more than what he bargained for). --Fatman4ever 17:00, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Even Saradomins himself is not purely beneficent - it has been noted that (from the sources of Rune HQ) that Saradomins demands his followers to respect life, he himself also demands death and destruction to the followers of Zamorak (even if the follower is a human being). Remember that this wise old man was a legendary figure (as strong and powerful as any warrior or mage considering how he manage to rob the bank and "trounce" everyone that got in his way with ease). --Fatman4ever 17:00, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

I can see why he wanted to rob the bank, but why did he even bother to KILL all those people! Not every person was a zammy fallower ya know................and if hes planning to attack the wizard tower again, then i think hes a faker! And when i say faker, i mean that hes really a majarrat in disquise and that hes acting like hes saradomin and all high and mighty! Oh yeah, and 1 more thing, how come he does more damage by using the god spells? Even if you charge it, he can still do 10 more points of damage.--Pkthis 03:07, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

The wise old man, though a follower of saradomins, he may also be acting independently. Note that he is NOT directly controlled by saradomins per se and therefore, he can do anything he wished to do and that means he will kill a fellow saradomins follower if ever that person gets in his way. --Fatman4ever 01:00, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

I also note that the lores and legends of rs is not yet complete. it is yet to be revealed who the wise old man is in totality. until the legends of rs is complete (which i cant tell when it will), we cannot tell who this wise old man could be if ever he is something or someone with other intensions. --Fatman4ever 01:00, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Regarding why his god (sara strike) spells are so devastating was that he is an NPC and therefore, the physics of combats (that includes magic) would be different between an NPC and a player. Therefore, with such difference in condition (which is like a double standard) its not appropriate (even akward) to compare the fighting capabilities and stats of an NPC and a player. --Fatman4ever 01:06, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Lol, it's simply naive to think that those who call themselves do-gooders are 100% good. There's always evil somewhere and even the most "good" people will have done something bad along the way... Sol Levante 09:27, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Real name?

Is his real name "Dionysius"? Dragon helmChiafriend12Granite body (old)Loon is best buttlord 23:40, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

There's a book about him that you find in the Swan Song quest that tells you his life story. He's referred to his real name in the book. Dtm142 23:21, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Are you sure his real name isint dinosaur?--Pkthis 16:31, 6 August 2007 (UTC) Yes, because having 'dinosaur' as a name is beyond even Runescape standards. Sol Levante 09:30, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

OMG... Dionysius is a greek god of wine! Dont you know that?! -

You inorant *****!!!

he isn't planning to steal runes from the wizard tower, he is plannig to burn it down to the ground!! C'mon!  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 2007-09-16 03:28:11 (UTC).

He says that he's short on runes. Please try to stop and think. Also, you are ignorant on how to spell "ignorant." Zeldafanjtl 00:45, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Accually, I think that he'll get runes from it, then burn it to the ground. He is short of runes, and he takes them from you when you ask him to check your bank, but he also has several tinderboxes in his house, indicating that he might burn the tower down. White partyhat old C Teng talk 22:47, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

He will burn down the tower, mages from all over runescape are willing to save the tower. This is the chance where the wise old man strikes, he puts on his Saradomin (g) armour and he will rob other Rune Stores. When the tower is burned to the ground (or saved) the mages will go back. They just used all there runes with them to save the tower. They go back for new runes but who is there? The Wise Old Man. He kills the mage and goes back to the tower for more Runes, later he will repeat his action on the Mages Guild and Ali M's market. After a while he got all the runes he wanted, creates a new type of rune and sells them at his home. He will also create new spells like:
  • Wise Old Mans home teleport
  • Wise Old Man (sara) strike
  • Wise Old Mans quick kill
  • And many many more, maybe even a new spellbook called "Wise old mans Spells"
And watch out for this new Very Hard, but short quest, where you are going to help both sides to unlock this Spellbook and new Runes.

Cool. If it's made, it better be f2p. White partyhat old C Teng talk 02:14, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Are his spells normal spells? I mean, can they accually be cast, or were they made just for the Old Wise Man? White partyhat old C Teng talk 00:48, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
If I'm not wrong they're player spells but he hits extremely hard with them (due to being an NPC and having mad stats that players cannot achieve). And being the powerful mage that he is, the WOM would probably blow up the whole wizards' tower with a fire wave or whatever. Tinderboxes are for mundane people =\ Sol Levante 09:33, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
He is planning to burn down wizards Tower and collect runes!!!!!!!!!!! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 16:03, June 18, 2011 (UTC). 08:50, July 4, 2013 (UTC)Does anyone else suspect that he was the one who removed the enchantment in Rune Mysteries125.209.147.117 08:50, July 4, 2013 (UTC)Sythero

Think about this

The WOM's true name, Dionysius, is greek name that comes from the greek god Dionysus [1], god of wine an madness. The weird thing is that next to his house in Draynor Village, there is a Wine stall with a Wine salesman. His act of robbing the Draynor Bank is found to by mad or insane by many people. It may also be found weird that despite having a very greek name, he speaks latin. The Wise Old Man is a man of many mysteries. 64supernoob 03:14, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Dude, names don't mean a thing in runescape. You've got people and NPCs with names that come from nonexistant languages and they still speak english :D. Having a wine stall next to his house is probably just Jagex's way of reinforcing the reference to the Greek god. Sol Levante 09:29, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

"Old man" redirects here?

  • ahem*, there are several NPCs with "old man" in their names.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 2008-05-25 11:26:20 (UTC).
"Old Man" usually refers to him. White partyhat old C Teng talk 22:22, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Next he will burn down the wizard tower AGAIN!Check one of his bookcases! There full of tinder boxes! When he robbed the bank his telascope was pointed was at the its pointed at the wizard tower!  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 2008-12-30 21:29:00 (UTC).

I was just wondering what robes the Wise Old Man wears, along with the black hat, and the blue party hat. Also, what weapons does he use? One more thing I want to add, is he bald?  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 2008-06-25 23:10:10 (UTC).

Um I remembered a whileeeeeeeeee back I saw the wise old man hanging around the crossbow tree at catherby beach. When I talked to him, he said he was keeping an "eye on things" and my character replied that he was cool. That's about all I remember, does anyone else have information on this? At the time I thought it was a quest, but I now have the quest cape and completely clueless as to why he was there.--Kodeman76 04:10, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Wise Old Man's POH

There appers to be something more interesting in W.O.M's POH, and this is he's chapel, where you can clearly see it's Zamorakian, all that window decoration and the symbol on altar.

What i'd expect to be happening with all this, is he's new love interest is follower of Zamorak, so.. W.O.M turns evil because of her? Whom knows, really.. Have to say it's going to be awesome quest that is coming in future. °-°

Training Under Lozar

Does anybody remember where it's mentioned that the Wise Old Man studied under Lozar? I'm not questioning the fact; it sounds really familiar, I just can't remember where it's stated. It would be helpful to expand on it in the article. Quest Morian Smith Saradomin crozier 02:56, July 6, 2010 (UTC)

Magicks most destructive

i know when i was in rimmington near a big oil distiller i found 'Magicks most destructive' in a book shelve and it didn’t say it wasn't incomplete or corrupted in any way

I was once in Rimmington on my main when he use to be mem, and as i was going into the POH i saw some guy with the Wise Old Man following him. I was thinking WTF? and all it had i think was follow wise old man, it's been a long time. So if you ever see wise old man following someone member world in rimmington, remember our manner and say hi :)

What can he do for me?

I came to this page trying to figure out what uses this guy has. Like clearing junk from your bank. But the wiki page has nothing but quest spoilers and useless yet entertaining information.

Maybe add some info regarding his ability to clear useless quest items from your bank and inventory.Twistdshade (talk) 23:19, August 17, 2012 (UTC)

This is something that I'm wondering as well. I know this comment is old, but this article needs this information.

I recently got info that he also cleans Diango stuff...and if that's true, then we really need that info. Just saying... --EscapeTheApe (talk) 17:59, August 27, 2015 (UTC)
