Items required	Items from the tool belt are not listed unless they do not work or are not automatically added. A regular beer (or two coins to buy one at the Dragon Inn in Yanille) A bucket of sand or bucket (can fill with sand during the quest) A lantern lens (the lens from an Emerald lantern won't work) Five earth runes An empty vial (bring two if you want to be teleported to Port Sarim to get the Truth serum). Redberries (1) White berries (1)
Recommended	It is also recommended not to bring anything that cannot be taken onto Entrana. Explorer's Ring 3 or 4 About 500 coins for boat trips (or less with activated Ring of charos). Activated Karamja, Port Sarim and Yanille lodestones. Teleport to House spell or teletabs to reach Brimhaven or Yanille.

A helping hand

• Talk to Bert near Yanille's house portal. ( 2•✓)…

• Give the Guard Captain in the nearby pub a beer.
• Ring the bell outside the Wizards' Guild to the east. ( 2)…

• Return to Bert.
• Go to Brimhaven and find Sandy in a small house north of the pub.
• Search his desk.
• Pickpocket Sandy for some sand (may take several attempts). (17 required)
• Return to Bert.
• Ring the bell and talk to Zavistic Rarve again. ( 2)…

  2	I have a rather sandy problem that I'd like to palm off on you.

Truth serum

• In Port Sarim's magic shop, talk to Betty. ( 1)…

  1	Talk to Betty about Hand in the Sand.

• Use your redberries on the bottled water Betty gave you, then the whiteberries.
• Use the pink dye on your lantern lens.
• Talk to Betty again. ( 1)…

  1	Talk to Betty about Hand in the Sand.

• Open the door to her shop and stand in the doorway, then use your rose-tinted lens on the counter. Successfully doing so grants you a truth serum potion.
• Talk to Betty again. ( 1)…

  1	Talk to Betty about Hand in the Sand.

• Make your way back to Brimhaven.
• Talk to Sandy ( 2)…

  2	But the pygmy shrews have eaten all the sand!

  to distract him. If you receive a 'I'm not falling for that one!' message, try adding the truth serum to the coffee mug beforehand. If this still doesn't work, lobby then log in again.
• Use the truth serum on the coffee mug on the table.
• Activate the magical orb in your inventory.
• Talk to Sandy again. ( 1•1•1)…

Retrieving the head

• Head back to the Wizards Guild and ring the bell once more. ( 2)…

• Head to the sand pit in south-west Entrana.
• Talk to Mazion to receive the wizard's head.
• Ring the bell at Wizards Guild a final time. ( 2)…

Rewards

• 1 quest point
• 1,000 experience
• 9,000 experience
• Able to buy pink dye from Betty
• Bert will ship 84 buckets of sand to your bank if you talk to him after the quest. This number is increased to 120 after completing the elite Ardougne Tasks. This can be done once per day. Clicking on the quest's name will give you the time left before you can ask him again.
• 2 Treasure Hunter keys and 2 Hearts of Ice
