The corpse of a thief is encountered during the Broken Home quest. He tried to steal an eye gem from Ormod Gulvas and was imprisoned for 102 days before starving to death. His cell is covered in tally marks. Searching his body yields the eighth eye gem, required to fix the final statue in the fourth room after opening the statue door, where you'll unlock the shrine of the son to find the mother's hairbrush.
