The Third-age mage hat is a member's only piece of armour that is part of the Third-age mage set. To wear the mage hat the player needs at least 30 Defence and 65 Magic. To obtain a Third-age mage hat the player can either receive one from a level 3 Treasure trail (1 in 10,000 chance), buy it on the GE, or buy from another player. It is currently tied with the Ectohood as the fourth best mage item worn in the headwear slot in the game, beaten by the Runic hood, Spiritbloom hood and Celestial hoods. However, it is the best mage hat in Gielinor, offering the same Magic attack and defence bonuses as Zuriel's hood.
