Intro[]
- Skaldrun: Here's a tale that only came to me recently: three books on the same shelf, three distinct personailties, and one dangerous mission.
The heroes[]
- Ozan: *Whistles loudly* Just look at this place! No wonder the Frems want to keep this place guarded. There must be all manner of treasures down here. HELLOOOOOOOOO!
- Sir Owen: Will you cut that out? We're hunting a dangerous criminal. Do you want him to know we're coming?
- Ozan: Oh, relax. there's no way Carn would be waiting for us so close to the entrance. I'm willing to bet that these dungeons don't exactly let sound carry.
- Ariane: Ozan has a point. There's something strange about this place, as though it's in a state of flux... a constant potential for change. It's fascinating. I'm certain that we won't be able to follow the same route as Carn, even if we are to walk in his footsteps.
- Ozan: Aha! Ariane sides with me.
- Ariane: That said, Ozan, it's best to be cautious: Carn is a dangerous criminal and one that we would be wise not to underestimate.
- Sir Owen: Okay, let's get moving. Be cautious and keep your eyes open.
- Ariane: And don't forget Linza's request.
- Ozan: Linza's what?
- Sir Owen: Honestly, Ozan, do you ever listen?
- Ozan: Sorry, did you say something?
- Ariane: Just keep an eye out for new ores and smithing techniques. If you're good, Linza will smith you something shiny.
- Ozan: I am a fan of shiny things.
- Sir Owen: Come on, let's get a move on.
Small talk[]
Sir Owen and Ozan[]
- What do you know about Carn?
- Sir Owen: What do you know about Carn?
- Ozan: I thought you were the one leading the charge.
- Sir Owen: I'm just making sure you know what we're up against.
- Ozan: He's a bad, bad man.
- Sir Owen: I was looking for something a little more specific.
- Ozan: Carn's a bandit leader with a weird obsession with animals. You know how owners start to look like their pets? Well, Carn looks like ALL of them. Smells like them too.
- (Return to the previous options.)
- Why aren't you taking all of this seriously?
- Sir Owen: Why aren't you taking all of this seriously?
- Ozan: If you can't laugh at something then there's something wrong, I always think.
- Sir Owen: I just need to make sure you're not distracted.
- Ozan: Ha ha ha! Just because I find the humour in things, does not mean I don't stay focused. You need to look REALLY carefully to find the humour in something dangerous.
- (Return to the previous options.)
- You're keeping an eye open for those ores, right?
- Sir Owen: You're keeping an eye open for those ores, right?
- Ozan: Yes. If I spot anything ore-like I'll let you know.
- (Return to the previous options.)
- Let's get back to the mission.
- Sir Owen: Let's get back to the mission.
- Ozan: Probably for the best.
- (Dialogue ends)
Sir Owen and Ariane[]
- What do you know about Carn?
- Sir Owen: What do you know about Carn?
- Ariane: I don't think we should be wasting time repeating everything you already know. This mission was yours, after all.
- Sir Owen: I just wanted to make sure we are all on the same page.
- Ariane: Rest assured that we are. Carn attempted to raid the druid village of Taverley for the secrets of summoning. We stopped him and followed him here.
- Sir Owen: Very concise.
- Ariane: I didn't see a point in giving elaborate details.
- Sir Owen: Any idea what he could be doing?
- Ariane: I'm not sure, but I'm certain it's classed as mischief.
- (Return to the previous options.)
- What did Linza want us to look into again?
- Sir Owen: What did Linza want us to look into again?
- Ariane: Honestly, you'd forget your head if it wasn't screwed on. *Sigh* Linza heard that strange metals were being used down here, and she wanted us to get her some.
- Sir Owen: So, just keep an eye out for new metals?
- Ariane: Or metal-crafting techniques, yes. She's interested in how she can apply the techniques of Daemonheim to her own smithing.
- (Return to the previous options.)
- (After talking about Carn with Sir Owen and either Ariane or Ozan:)
- Why do you think Carn was so interested in summoning?
- Sir Owen: Why do you think Carn was so interested in summoning?
- Ariane: In his case, he probably just wants the animals to fight for him, neglecting all their other uses.
- Sir Owen: What other uses?
- Ariane: There are far too many to list, you just need to be creative.
- (Return to the previous options.)
- Why do you think Carn was so interested in summoning?
- Let's get back to the mission.
- Sir Owen: Let's get back to the mission.
- Ariane: I agree.
- (Dialogue ends)
Ozan and Sir Owen[]
- Why are we hunting Carn again?
- Ozan: Why are we hunting Carn again?
- Sir Owen: You can't tell me that you've forgotten the Taverley incident already.
- Ozan: I've slept since then.
- Sir Owen: I hardly think that death and kidnapping is something to make light of.
- Ozan: I find that the moment we stop making light of things, that's when the bad guys win.
- Sir Owen: I think bringing the villain to justice is far more important than making fun.
- Ozan: This is getting us off topic. Just remind me what Carn did again.
- Sir Owen: Carn was the mastermind behind a brutal and vicious attack on the druids of Taverley. He led a clan of bandits down White Wolf Mountain and let them loose on the village; he would have cause more carnage if Xenia hadn't heard about his scheme from one of her contacts. We and the Temple Knights were ready for him, and we were able to stop a lot of damage before it started. Of course, random violence was just a diversion. Thanks to Ariane's seer abilities, we were able to discover his true goal. He was stealing the secrets of summoning from the druids. He has been known to train wildlife for battle, and summoned familiars would only add to his bestial forces. We were able to stop him, but he got away from us. The Temple Knights have charged me with bringing him to justice, and I thought it best to bring people I could trust.
- Ozan: What makes Carn so dangerous?
- Sir Owen: Aside from being a cold-blooded killer? He's able to manipulate animals. He gathered a small army of creatures to attack the druids, and he's rarely seen without some large beast guarding him. Beyond that, he's cold, calculating and dangerously clever. No doubt he has got a trick or two up his sleeve, so we should proceed with caution.
- (Return to the previous options.)
- So, what is Ariane talking about with the ore for Linza?
- Ozan: So, what is Ariane talking about with the ore for Linza?
- Sir Owen: Linza has heard stories about new and unusual ores in Daemonheim. She wants us to keep an eye out for them, maybe get her a sample or two.
- Ozan: Do we have an idea of how to sneak the ores out?
- Sir Owen: That's where your skills come in.
- Ozan: I'm sure I can think of something.
- (Return to the previous options.)
- These dungeons are certainly impressive.
- Ozan: These dungeons are certainly impressive. There must be a great story behind this place.
- Sir Owen: With you as the hero?
- Ozan: Well, the best stories are told from the perspective of the lead character.
- Sir Owen: I'm not entirely sure I agree with that.
- Ozan: Trust me, I'm an expert. When you tell a story, you want to relate to the feelings of the characters, and the only manner of doing that is by telling it from their point of view.
- Sir Owen: Or, you could make the characters you're writing about empathetic.
- Ozan: True, but that's nowhere near as fun.
- Sir Owen: While these dungeons might be interesting, they're also dangerous. Keep your eyes out for traps and lurking enemies.
- (Return to the previous options.)
- Do you know what we've currently found for Linza?
- Ozan: Do you know what we've currently found for Linza?
- Sir Owen: Forgotten already?
- If no ores have been found and the cub skinweaver has not been summoned
- Sir Owen: We've found nothing so far.
- If no ores have been found and the cub skinweaver has not been summoned
- (Return to the previous options.)
- Let's get back to the mission.
- Ozan: Let's get back to the mission.
- Sir Owen: I couldn't agree more.
- (Dialogue ends)
Ozan and Ariane[]
- What do you know about Carn?
- Ozan: What do you know about Carn?
- Ariane: I suspect I know the same as you. If you want an update then Owen's a better fit.
- Ozan: Any idea what he could be doing?
- Ariane: I'm not sure, but I'm certain it's classed as mischief.
- (Return to the previous options.)
- What did Linza want us to look into again?

Ariane and Sir Owen[]
- Why are we hunting Carn again?
- Ariane: Why are we hunting Carn again?
- Sir Owen: You can't tell me that you've forgotten the Taverley incident already.
- Ariane: Of course not, but a second insight is always useful.
- Sir Owen: Fair enough. Carn was the mastermind behind a brutal and vicious attack on the druids of Taverley. He led a clan of bandits down White Wolf Mountain and let them loose on the village; he would have cause more carnage if Xenia hadn't heard about his scheme from one of her contacts. We and the Temple Knights were ready for him, and we were able to stop a lot of damage before it started. Of course, random violence was just a diversion, as your vision alerted us.

- Ariane: Do we have an idea of how to sneak the ores out?
- Sir Owen: That's where Ozan's devious skills will come in handy.
- Ozan: Devious. Skilled. Handy. Sounds like me.
- (Return to the previous options.)
- Look at this place, there must be so much history here.
- Ariane: Look at this place: there must be so much history here. So much that we could learn.
- Sir Owen: Careful now, Ariane. We're on a mission here.
- Ariane: Oh, I know that, but there's no reason we couldn't take a look around.
- Sir Owen: We need to be focused, Ariane. We can't risk giving Carn additional time to plot something.
- Ariane: A shame. You're right of course.
- Sir Owen: While these dungeons might be interesting, they're also dangerous. Keep your eyes out for traps and lurking enemies.
- (Return to the previous options.)
- Do you know what we've currently found for Linza?

- Ariane: You know what we're doing with the ore, right?
- Ozan: Updating Linza's weird rock collection?
- Ariane: More or less. Just keep your eyes open for any strange ores, or anything to do with smelting techniques down here.
- (Return to the previous options.)
- Let's get back to the mission.
- Araine: Let's get back to the mission.
- Ozan: Probably for the best.
- (Dialogue ends)
Dungeon exit[]
- Skaldrun: I don't believe that climbing these stairs is part of our tale. If you leave now, the story leaves with you. Shall I end our tale?
- Yes
- (Exit saga)
- No
- (Dialogue ends)
Opening the first door[]
- Sir Owen: Carn's henchmen. At least we know we're on the right path.
- Ozan: We'll have to fight our way through them. How should we do this?
- Sir Owen: We'll mark them so we can concentrate our attacks on one enemy at a time.
- Ariane: Don't be greedy with the food. We'll need to get out of this alive.
- Ozan: Don't know about you, but I'm going to eat if I get injured. Make sure you hand me some fish if I'm not looking good.
- Ariane: How will we know the difference?
- Sir Owen: Save the jokes until we've dealt with these guys.
- Ozan: Spoilsport.
