The Tutorial Cellar is where new players first start. Here they get to customise their character, learn the basics of the game, learn the rules, and earn the right to talk freely. After the tutorial the players are allowed to roam the realm of RuneScape. It is located underneath Roddeck's House in Lumbridge. The Tutorial Cellar was originally in the obsolete quest Learning the Ropes, but is now used in Unstable Foundations.

The Tutorial Cellar was located underneath Roddeck's House in Lumbridge, but can no longer be accessed. It was where new players started the game, being the setting for the two former tutorial quests, Learning the Ropes and its replacement Unstable Foundations.

After the tutorial was completed it could not be accessed again; except by players who had created their account before Unstable Foundations was released, who could go down the ladder to visit Sir Vant. After the removal of Unstable Foundations players could still access the cellar to talk to him. When spoken to for the first time Sir Vant would give the player 2 antique lamps, which awarded 250 experience in a skill of the player's choice, and would tell the player about a battle where he fought the three-headed dragon mentioned in Learning the Ropes. The cellar has since been made inaccessible and Sir Vant has been moved to another location.
