Two-handed crossbows are ranged class weapons that players may use for combat. Two-handed crossbows take up both the weapon slot and the shield slot on the player's equipment screen, and thus can be used for ranging abilities that require a two-handed ranged weapon. However, this disallows the use of off-hand weapons or shields. Like single-handed crossbows, these weapons use bolts as their ammunition. They may be fletched at specific fletching levels in the same way as their one-handed counterparts. Although they fire slower than one-handed crossbows, they more than make up for this in the damage they deal per hit.

Metal crossbows can be created through the Fletching skill. The stocks must be cut from logs, and the limbs are made via the Smithing skill (except for dragon limbs, which are a drop from tormented demons). The player can then use the two items together to make an unfinished crossbow and string it with a crossbow string.

Salamanders

Salamanders act as two-handed crossbows, the difference being that they are all limited to one specific type of herb tar as ammunition, which is not reusable when shot as a basic attack.
