No idea where the widget gets its data; might be from older data. What is the link for the widget? The wikia stat would be the most reliable. Chrislee33 05:44, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
Ah, the 'Top Users' widget counts the total number of edits; whereas the stats pages separates them into Articles vs. Other. Stat rankings are by content namespace or Articles edited, not total edits which include talk pages. Chrislee33 08:57, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

I'll attempt to make a long story short. After Total's last attempt to rejoin the community in June failed his IP was blocked and it's talk page protected due to his swearing. Subsequently an IP then left a message warning of a "coming new era" to three users (Atlandy, Sacre Fi, and myself). Warnings continued to appear every now and then for a month or two, with Skill blocking each IP. Finally an account named Daedryon came to the wiki and admitted to Skill that he was the IP proxier who had been leaving the message, later that night (or perhaps the day after), Christine raised concerns that the user was infact Total and in the next days we gathered evidence against him. Once confronted, Daedryon denied everything and soon his lies unraveled, after a checkuser Total's IP range was blocked by Christine. (I've seen been forced to revert this as it was blocking innocent users due to the size of the IP range). Over at Sannse's central talk page, Stinkowing and Daedryon argued with one another, Stinkowing was unable to control his temper and used an IP to vandalize Daedryon's central talk, which nearly got him blocked and could have undermined our agrument against Daedryon's claims of us being out to get him.-- 20:34, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Certainly was a mouthful, I'm glad he's learning to control his anger, but being the pessimist that I am, I'll wait for the results. I certainly have always hated the politics that go on around here, though sometimes it can be downright entertaining (Earthere vs. Christine), with the recent influx of users of users and the size of the wiki I've noticed "growing pains" as of late. For some reason it seems that regular users and those with sysop tools have become disconnected slightly, not like the good 'ole days, funny thing is not many know that I was an IP for about six months before I registered this account and am a bit of a veteran here myself (pulls out walking cane and limps away to yell at the kids on his lawn...).-- 20:55, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Ahh, I've finally found it! (I was looking for it to put in the history of the Daedryon issue but oh well) Here is the last discussion of Total's fate on the CVU, also explains why I was one of those contacted by him during the "new era" bit.-- 21:21, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Ha ha, my favorite part of the whole fiasco is that she's the one that welcomed him. Well, there certainly was always a degree of friction between the two (different personalities and what not), there was a dispute over Christine's talk, along with multiple small arguments that followed, many took place on Earthere's earlier RfA's or even those of other users. Earth's first RfA is an excellent example of the wikidrama of the old days, but the major turning point that really sent things down hill between the two was their revert war over Christine's talk, in which both were blocked for their violation of the 3 revert rule (which was created shortly after the incident. More recently, the two have warred on issues ranging from Earthere's last RfA (he snapped quite frankly, lucky for him Christine blocked him for a day to cool down, he may not know it but she saved him from what mostly likely wound have become a perm block), to Christine's calling him a troll, to Earth's interference in the Blanko issue. I'll admit that this story is quite detailed and I do no justice to my favorite wikidrama series, however many of the earlier disputes occurred during my hiatus from the wiki. This is about as neutral a point of view on this story, as you'll find though, what bridges (among the vets of that time) that Earthere did have before his last RfA were severely strained by his closure of it and eradic behavior afterwards, though I'm sure there are a few things you may find in your travels around the wiki as well. Until the next of "Azaz's Cat Nap Stories", enjoy this picture of the good ole days (you'll have to go to the Web address to see the image). -- 04:40, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
talk page stalking atm.
Actually, I don't have anger issues. Just more of a self esteem thing. =]
Was planning on nothing more than edit warring over the blanking of my RfA, and being a complete, gibberish idiot on my talk page. Honestly that day I was depressed.
I'm glad to see that that dispute was just a bit of comic relief. Definitely, the single reason I hated the internet last year came off as a complete joke. runescape wiki is serious business I guess. =]
honestly, I'd probably laugh off the bedtime story as well, but seeing as how you opposed my RfA based on this "circus" of a vendetta, I'm not too terribly pleased. Rollback crownearth(t) 05:43, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Oh but of course, the best part of Aprils fool's day jokes are the backfires, without that it'd just be another day with a half-witted joke.-- 20:04, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Quest Monster Succession

Not to be critical here but the succession templates on many of the monster pages you have just added are explaining things very poorly or just dead wrong. I believe you're trying to show the timeline of the strongest quest monster. To do this you should swich the templates to Preceeded by|Strongest Quest Monster in RuneScape|Succeeded by. If your aiming to see which quests monsters are currently the strongest in RuneScape then you need to do a litte research. The Bestiary might be a good place to start. Cheers! :) --Whiplash 02:52, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Oh no problem. I just got a little confused looking at the templates since what it was stating didn't exactly match up. Lol. --Whiplash 03:03, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Just got the latest edit to your message. The template states "Strongest Quest Monster" in RuneScape. This simply implies it was the strongest monster succeeding such and such until being succeeded by such and such. Hopefully that clarifies things. :) --Whiplash 03:05, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. Was wondering what that meant ^.^. (Get with the program Whip) --Whiplash 03:18, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Navbox is being centered/centred again

A user by the name of Sara knight has centralised the text for "single line" navboxes. What should we do? I thought we agreed not to centralise the text, as it became too ugly for wide browsers?   az talk   05:50, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

These are some of the templates that have been changed. A full list is available here.

Combination of two formats: centered and left-alignment.

If they are, I'll just follow what he/she's done so far.   az talk   07:14, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

So, let me get this straight: It's center-aligned if its only one group, and left-aligned if there are more than one group. Is that correct?
Instead of using <center></center>, it would be better to use: | style1 = text-align:center. It's already coded that way, so why waste a parameter... =)   az talk   07:51, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Iconic navboxes

Hmm.. maybe we could. But I'm not sure how we could change of text to image (and vice versa) in the HTML. JavaScript is messy in terms of HTML substitution. Why don't you give it a try?   az talk   07:51, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

"Talk" in your signature

Could you add a "talk" link in your signature? It would be much easier to come straight to the talk page. I almost edited your user page several times thinking that it was your talk page.   az talk   07:51, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Wow.. my bad. It's so hard to locate.. I spent 30 seconds figuring out where to click. Some people (like me) would miss the em-dash or the "space" links. LOL.

Pic Edit?

I saw you did the animated pic for the old battered door leading to Movario's base in the While Guthix Sleeps quest.

It shows 4 of the 5 possible rune displays. I found a pic of the sixth one (fire symbol)

and thought it would be nice to see it in your pic to make it complete.

Sorry, I know you do enough around here already. Just throwing it out there. :-P Pokemama 01:30, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

While I'm out

Is it okay if, maybe, you just keep a casual eye on my userpage/talk page (like put it on your watchlist)? I'm going to be gone for a bit, and I don't want it getting vandalized, like it did last time. I'd greatly appreciate it. It's not a huge deal though; if you'll be away, that's okay. You see, the block took into account his massive block log, his communication with Total Rune, and using personal information to attack Christine. Quite frankly, I seen numerous indefinnite blocks give for less than that.-- 22:35, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Well, I had a long and winded response typed, and then my computer froze, needless to say, I'm now using my old computer monitor...Anyway, for a now much shorter response. Total first started out here in February of '07, claiming to be his brother Nick, after a bit of flamming, he claimed that his brother was the one who had committed the acts and was unblocked. Christine, Wowbagger, Chasngcars, and Endasil were some of the main opposition to Total at the end (I should also note Dtm142 was no fan either). After he was finally blocked (more flamming had occurred and he made a whole drama bit about finally leaving the wiki), Total would come back many times with his socks to attempt to disrupt the wiki. Trying to find clear, concise records of the exact history (from back then) is incredibly difficult, all the info is mixed with bias, half-truths, and wikitics, this all occurring in the earliest of my wiki days hasn't exactly helped my memory either. When it comes down to though, Total is nothing more than a narcissistic twenty year old from Alberta, Canada, named Tyler Warren whose been banned from every community he's been apart of from this wiki to wikipedia to anything elso you can think of. Quite frankly, his history here is so extensive that it has to be broken into segments such as the Daedryon issue. I have to admit a bit of bias as my userpage has only been vandalised three times and good ole Total was the first to take a whack at it. And so ends another chapter of "Azaz's Cat Nap Stories". Until next time, meow.-- 04:46, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Nested infoboxes

I've done some tweaking to the Navbox template (stored in Template:Navbox2) so that another infobox can be nested within an infobox. This is how it would look like:

There are two things to remember when nesting is concerned.

  • The nested navbox should contain the parameter:
    • |subgroup = Yes
  • The location of the nested navbox (for example group4) should have the style parameter as follows:
    • |style4 = padding: 0px (Note: Without this, the nested navbox would not blend into the parent navbox.)

I highly recommend using this nesting system for large navboxes. However, I would suggest that this system is used sparingly (hopefully, there are not many navboxes that require nesting), as the coding for this nesting may be too complicated and may befuddle casual users.

If it works and looks okay, we can copy over Navbox2 into Navbox, and delete Navbox2. (Navbox2 is meant for testing...)   az talk   18:02, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

To my knowledge, no. Wikipedia uses a different template altogether for subgroups: Wikipedia:Template:Navbox subgroup which uses Wikipedia:Template:Navbox anyway. I, somehow, managed to merge the two into a single template, skipping past "Navbox subgroup" altogether.   az talk   05:07, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

About the Slang dictionary

I haven't actually had time to look at this yet though I can say this. Because this article is related to chat in the game slang that contains references to swear words could possibly be in violation of Rule 1 in the game. Im personally not sure that the RuneScape Wiki should be advertising chat that is probably in violation of JaGex's rules but then again we don't censor material either. I'd personally say that it is probably a good idea to move the more "offensive" content to another page and but a header that this page may promote material that is in violation of JaGex's rules. Optionally it could alwalys be moved to the Dark RuneScape Wiki where the rules there are far different than here. Cheers. :) --Whiplash 16:52, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Userpage Help

Hey Kytti Khat, I'm working on my personal userpage, and I was wondering if you can help me out with something. Let me explain my situation. On your userpage, on the top right corner, you have a list of all your stats, and I decided I wanted it so I copied the template from your page and put it on mine, but for some reason it looks nothing like it does on your page. I was just hoping that you could tweak it to make it not be so... huge? --Evil borg2 01:46, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Update: Ok, I figured out what you did. You made it so that your skill template thing was updated by the hiscores on the Runescape webpage. I did what you did, I created a parse.dat page for my user, and an hs.dat page for my user. I pretty much just copied and pasted what you had on your pages, and I found out that I had the same stats as you on my page, so what I did was I went to the link on your hs.dat page, and changed the url from kytti_khat to evil_borg2. After that, everything was perfect. I'm getting the hang of this wiki stuff. --k thx bye - Evil Borg2 04:10, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

I love how the skill box thing updates my skills without me having to edit it. I was wondering, did you do that yourself, or did you get it from someone else? I never would have been able to do it myself, I only managed to put it on my own page by looking at the edit page and copying what was there, and I noticed that you had a phase.dat page and all that and made one for myself. -- k thx bye - Evil Borg2 22:35, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

In response to the above post and your response, Kytti khat: PNG images actually support something called alpha transparency. Alpha transparency allows for translucent pixels to be created, meaning that the portion along the anti-aliased edge can have a varying degree of opacity. I'll get to work on updating the image ASAP. (It's still best to get a new image without anti-aliasing, however.)

I'm just a general recent change stocker--so yes, I guess that qualifies me as a talk page stalker, too. ;)

As for the image, I'm almost done with adding transparency to it. You're right in saying that transparency probably doesn't matter, but it's always good to prepare for the future.
