Shop message

link For months, I've been getting a message from the Varrock bstaff shop when I click 'buy all'. It says the shop only had 80 in stock and my price has been adjusted accordingly. I just tried buying exactly 10 chisels (shop's full amount) from the general store nearby and received the same message. If I buy less than the shop's full stock, I don't get any message. I just tried 'buy all' 50 apples from Culinaromancer's chest, 28 to my inventory and no message. Did 'buy all' again, and got the exact same message I've been getting for months, or even year+ now: "The shop only had X left to buy, your order has been adjusted accordingly." What new message are you guys getting, and are you sure it isn't a glitch rather than an update? A picture would be good. Please keep all replies here rather than on my own page. 15:49, December 2, 2015 (UTC)

Since monday's update I'm getting the message that you appareantly are getting for months/year+. I didn't get it earlier than monday's update, it's new for me. But it's exactly the same as you're describing. Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 16:06, December 2, 2015 (UTC)
You've been using 'buy all' all this time too? That is very weird. It's a useless message anyway if you hit 'buy all'. The way it's worded, it would only be helpful if the player chose a buy option greater than the shop's stock. Anyway, I've removed that hidden update. 16:24, December 2, 2015 (UTC)
Edit: Okay, I noticed a change in this one. Before the recent update, I could go to Lunar Isle runes shop and click 'buy all' on each of the runes I wanted, one after another. The message is exactly the same, except now I have to click 'continue' after each purchase so that I can buy the next rune. Come to think of it, it may not have shown up at this shop before because it's blocking a few runes I want to buy. I know that I didn't need to click it to buy the runes it's now hiding, but I'm also positive that I've seen this exact message from the Varrock bstaff shop for a very long time now. I shop there daily, but other shops like Lunar isle less frequently. Perhaps Jagex was testing it out there and is now ready to release it completely? The way it's working, phrased, and on talks on the RSOF, I don't think it will last long exactly as is anyway. 16:42, December 2, 2015 (UTC)
Yes, I've been using the buy-all option all this time too. I agree it's very weird, and Jagex should revert it. Why would they want to make a message annoying like this? Anyway, I only shop daily at Culi's chest, claim the free tar from Lletya's general store, and the broad arrowheads from the slayer masters. Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 18:08, December 2, 2015 (UTC)
According to Mod Kelpie (see here) it's a bug they want to squish before the next update! =D Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 19:16, December 2, 2015 (UTC)

Re:Rc cape image

What do you mean how did I make it? Bren 09:40, December 4, 2015 (UTC)

Orb of oculus, just set the Move Speed slider all the way to the slowest possible (all the way to the left) so you have very fine control over getting it in the direct center of the screen - after all it is a 3D game, so centering it does make for an "unwarped" image. Bren 09:49, December 4, 2015 (UTC)
You drop it, you have 3 minutes to pick it back up before it disappears so get that timer out :P Not really necessary since it's 120k but when you're orbing stuff you don't want to lose, just keep in mind about how long it's been dropped for. Bren 10:22, December 4, 2015 (UTC)
Add me in game? I just changed my name to "Euk" Bren 10:36, December 4, 2015 (UTC)

I totally wasn't paying attention and didn't even notice his return. Such an overreaction to an image being deleted. Why am I taking the flak for something Spine did, anyway? Small recharge gem AnselaJonla Slayer-icon 07:34, December 6, 2015 (UTC)

RS:UCS though. It's stupid to have a large heading on a tiny article with a list of exactly one thing not even relevant to the main subject. That one sentence looks much better in prose.18px-Avatar.png Fswe1 26px-Brassica_Prime_symbol.svg.png 16:52, December 9, 2015 (UTC)

It looks ridiculous. No reason to make it stand out, especially not like this. 18px-Avatar.png Fswe1 26px-Brassica_Prime_symbol.svg.png 18:09, December 9, 2015 (UTC)
To chime in, a "required for the completing" is a header typically used on quest pages and it only makes sense there because: 1) quest articles usually have many sections, 2) you can't "complete" a cape, so the wording here is particularly poor. I agree with Fswe. 5-x Talk 16:35, December 10, 2015 (UTC)

Release date

It is actually not against policy to add release dates to articles! The opposite in fact: RS:FUTURE lists release dates as something that can be added ahead of an update so long as the release date has been confirmed and isn't put in the infobox. As you know, the release date was confirmed in the Dev Q&A I referenced, so it meets this criteria and so I've put it back in. I remember that completing all achievments was a requeriment, but searching through the requeriments again, I see its not. They'd probably scrapped it or something. Keilo104 (talk) 20:55, December 10, 2015 (UTC)

Dungeoneering journals

Look at revision history, I got M and Thok page 4 on floor 19. Clearly Mod Manti has downs. Unfortunately we can't go by what all jmods say. So the info on the article you updated it to going by what Mod Manti said is inaccurate. Please adjust accordingly (I made the edit on my other wiki account which I don't use anymore, which is Euk) Bren 04:47, December 11, 2015 (UTC)

Memo/Banker's diary

They aren't significant enough to warrant anything more than a mention inside the quest article. We have no additional information to put on a separate page, because there just isn't any. Also, please familiarise yourself with RS:3RR. 5-x Talk 12:16, December 15, 2015 (UTC)

Convince me there's a use to these pages. Add a transcript, an image, or anything else which could be relevant. Because at the moment those pages bring nothing new to the table. You click a link off the main quest article, and learn nothing new or useful whatsoever. 5-x Talk 13:25, December 15, 2015 (UTC)
Good idea. I won't change them into redirects and we'll see how these two pages develop, then. 5-x Talk 16:45, December 15, 2015 (UTC)

Template:Timbo's Trees

Are you kidding? This is speedy delete material. 5-x Talk 16:45, December 15, 2015 (UTC)

No. It's useless. Three related links don't need a navbox, they don't even need a category. You've made up a name for it and elevated these three very small articles to some kind of significant piece of content, which it isn't. Not to mention wiki is not a crystal ball. 5-x Talk 18:47, December 15, 2015 (UTC)

I was going through the wanted pages: your page had several flags on it, specifically RfD related. You only have 5/8 of the "Freeing" subquests listed and they are shown as not having an article, but they actually do. This is probably because the 3 you don't have listed use : while the other 5 use /. After that is changed (I'll leave it up to you which way that should go, but / would probably be better since it'd link back to the main article), you'd still have redlinks for categories; are categories really necessary for subquests? Dsctatom (talk) 22:36, December 15, 2015 (UTC)

RfD categories seem to be the only ones left. Dsctatom (talk) 16:13, December 16, 2015 (UTC)
I think the Redlink page only updates once per week or something, causing it to seem like it still was a problem. Dsctatom (talk) 20:13, December 16, 2015 (UTC)
Did you purge it? I tried doing &action=purge but it didn't do anything. Either way, it's updated now. Could you take a look at Special:WhatLinksHere/Category:Articles in need of wikification and figure out why it still says that? Dsctatom (talk) 21:11, December 16, 2015 (UTC)
Those few others are admins as well so I figured I'd let them handle their own pages. Most of the remaining redlinks are master capes, SGS animations and upcoming TH promos. Dsctatom (talk) 23:13, December 16, 2015 (UTC)

Is there a way of viewing a list of references to redirects? I know there's ListRedirects but that's for pages that are redirects. WhatLinksHere would only work for one reference at a time. BrokenRedirects assumes the redirect doesn't work at all. DoubleRedirects is only for a redirect > redirect > page. What I was looking for is something that lists things that use redirects. E.g. a page that has "RfD" has the link for Recipe for Disaster rather than properly using the true name. Dsctatom (talk) 16:49, December 23, 2015 (UTC)

re:Quest navbox

i don't see why this would be needed at all. it's wrapping the exact same features we had before but removing a lot of the possible flexibility. for example if we want to have different top level headings (for any reason) in a navbox it is extremely straightforward to change the name the gtitle, but if we cover this with another template someone might need to go in and edit Template:Quest navbox, which is very difficult. it is much harder now to predict all use cases, say in the event a future quest has something new. i would prefer to continue using normal navboxes Riblet15 21:11, December 24, 2015 (UTC)

What I mean is that I can't predict right now what every possible quest navbox should look like. The existing navbox lets us do any desired features easily. The new template lets us do only some features of a navbox. It is less useful than a navbox, and only removes a couple lines of code. Adding something (i don't know, say a footer) to a navbox is trivial, but to add that into a template wrapped by quest navbox means we have to add code into the lengthy Template:Quest Navbox, which only you understand. It doesn't make sense to add this extra step, or complicate the logic by using a wrapper navbox when the default navbox already does the job with full flexibility and is understood by everyone on the wiki. Riblet15 08:55, December 25, 2015 (UTC)
By adding in these and any other possible features, Quest Navbox approaches the flexibility that Navbox already 100% provides. I still don't see what benefits using the new template could provide over navboxes, but I do see the added potential of maintenance on the new template which is avoided by not using it. Riblet15 04:56, December 26, 2015 (UTC)
Pls don't actually use this :( ʞooɔ 20:04, January 7, 2016 (UTC)
It forces all quest navboxes into a standard that not all of them can actually fit. What you see as standardization, I see as limiting flexibility both on existing navboxes and future ones. I think there are often superior ways to organize the information, and this template makes those impossible. I don't think modifying the quest navbox template to permit these formats is a viable solution. It's just more work to get less.
Also, for what it's worth, I'm not a fan of moving all chathead-less characters to the end of the section... ʞooɔ 11:21, January 8, 2016 (UTC)
Off the top of my head, you're missing support for subquests. But that's not really the point. ʞooɔ 11:52, January 8, 2016 (UTC)
Hi can you please not continue using this. It limits what we are able to do with navboxes. Riblet15 06:16, January 14, 2016 (UTC)
I've discussed with a couple of people and see opposition. I think this would be a good issue to bring to the yew grove. Riblet15 23:59, January 14, 2016 (UTC)

Couldn't help but notice your comment ("aren't palindromes for words only?") in the undoing of an edit (I agree with the undo regardless, as it is useless trivia in my opinion). According to Wikipedia: "A palindrome is a word, phrase, number, or other sequence of characters which reads the same backward or forward.", so it was in fact a palindrome.

quest navboxes "enemies"

any reason enemies shouldn't be included in the same top level heading as other NPCs? I also think "personalities" is a bad word to use as the heading. I would define personalities to mean "notable celebrities", when really the word we want is "NPCs". Riblet15 21:57, January 9, 2016 (UTC)

well, items/rewards is a different situation, because they form two different sets that do not completely overlap. however, all enemies would fit into the set of NPCs, which means it has reasonably been placed as a subcategory of NPCs.
Even though some navboxes originally used the word 'personalities', that doesn't make it the correct term to describe the group. I think it would make more sense to use a different title. Riblet15 03:01, January 10, 2016 (UTC)
