A Valentine heart is a rare item that can be won on the Squeal of Fortune, obtained through skilling, or taken as a drop from a monster. They are only available from 14 February 2013 to 25 February 2013. Players can "send" Valentine hearts to open up a rewards interface.
The rewards unlocked with Valentine hearts are split into Love and Hate rewards:
- Love
- Love at First Sight emote - 1750 hearts
- Cupid bow - 1000 hearts
- Lovestruck pendant - 750 hearts
- Hate
- Jealous Rage emote - 1750 hearts
- Rosethorn wand and Broken heart - 1000 hearts
- Heartbreak pendant - 750 hearts
Chocolates, a neutral reward, can be received by trading in 50 hearts.
There are six different chocolates, all of which can be won on the Squeal of Fortune or bought with Valentine hearts. Each of these six chocolates heals 200 life points and gives a temporary +2 boost to a specific skill, as listed here:
- Noisette triangle key - Dungeoneering
- Chilli chocolate - Firemaking
- Coconut cream - Herblore (members only)
- Dwarven delight - Mining & Smithing
- Rose essence truffle - Runecrafting
- Vanilla fudge log - Woodcutting
Trivia
- Upon obtaining Valentine hearts in-game, players receive the following message in their chat box: "Congratulations! You've found some Valentine hearts!"
- Valentine hearts can only be traded to other players and cannot be bought or sold on the Grand Exchange.
- Free-to-play players can only unlock the Love at First Sight and Jealous Rage emotes as well as chocolate. All other prizes are members only.
- Although they aren't tradable on the Grand Exchange, the price checker values Valentine hearts at 1,000 gp each.
- On the day of release, some players were buying Valentine hearts for in excess of 10,000 gp each on the street.
- Valentine hearts can also be fed to a pet Baby Troll to give them Valentine-themed names.
- Opening the rewards interface for Valentine hearts emits a heart beat sound effect.
