For the wolpertinger featured in the Wolf Whistle quest, see Giant wolpertinger.
[view][talk]

Wolpertingers are level 92 Summoning familiars which are part-rabbit, part-wolf. They have the ability of boosting the Hunter skill by 5, though this boost is invisible. Wolpertingers also double the experience and yield when berries are being harvested in the Farming skill. These familiars provide 5% defence bonus against Magic.

During the Wolf Whistle quest, the player must scare a Giant wolpertinger by summoning a level 1 Spirit wolf.

Wolpertinger pouch

[view][talk]

Wolpertinger pouch is made by using a Summoning pouch on a Summoning obelisk with 203 spirit shards, a Crimson charm, a raw rabbit, and a set of wolf bones in the inventory. Making the pouch earns 404.8 experience points. Using the pouch to summon a Wolpertinger gains 4.6 experience points, and costs 10 Summoning points. This is one of only two pouches that requires 2 tertiary components, the other being an Ice titan pouch.

Magic focus scroll

[view][talk]

Magic focus scroll enables the use of the Magic Focus special move for a Wolpertinger. Using the pouch on a Summoning obelisk creates 10 scrolls.

Magic Focus

Magic Focus is the special move for Wolpertingers, which will boost the Magic level by 7. This is the highest Magic boost available in the game (equal to the Extreme magic potion (+7 boost), followed by the random Spicy stew (up to 6 boost) and the more reliable Magic potion (+5 boost).

Trivia

  • The familiar's examine text, "It's just a harmless wee rabbit" is a reference to the scene in the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail, when Tim warns them about the killer-rabbit. "Wee" also means small in Gaelic, the language traditionally spoken in Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
  • Wolpertinger is also a small fictional mammal found in Germany.
  • A Wolpertinger is also a mythical Chinese creature called a Jiao Tu. These creatures are placed on the roofs of important Chinese buildings to protect from fire and ghosts.
  • The Wolpertinger resembles the Jackalope of North American folklore.
