The special attack of the Zanik's Crossbow, Defiance

Zanik's crossbow is a reward from the quest The Chosen Commander and is named after Zanik, the main character of the quest. It is similar in appearance to the Dorgeshuun crossbow, but has significantly higher stats. The crossbow has the Ranged attack bonus of an adamant crossbow, and can fire up to adamant bolts (including bone bolts, but excluding enchanted bolts). It cannot fire broad bolts. It has a negative Prayer bonus, but wielding a prayer book, Falador shield 2 or Falador shield 3 in the shield slot cancels that out.

The special attack, Defiance, takes up 50% of the special attack bar and deals increased damage (3-15) to players using Prayers and/or equipment marked by the gods. When used, lightning seems to blast out from the crossbow.

Under the right conditions, the special attack can hit for a max of 59.

Should players lose the crossbow, they may retrieve it from Oldak in exchange for an adamant crossbow.

It is a good alternative for training Ranged because it can fire Bone bolts, which are only 3 coins each in the Grand Exchange. Its rough price is the same as an adamant crossbow, which means it is cheap to replace yet strong. In the first few hours of the release the player would receive a debug message when using the Special Attack; File:Zcbowdebug.png Although all enchanted bolts up to Diamond are considered to be up to Adamant, they are unable to be used with Zanik's Crossbow. It and the Dorgeshuun C'bow are the only crossbows with special attacks.
